Remote Programming Control Patents (Class 455/419)
  • Patent number: 9781543
Abstract: Techniques are described that can be used for efficient mobility management signaling. In some cases, a network can specify an extended timer used for a machine to machine (M2M) type device to communicate with a network. The extended timer can be transmitted in connection with an attachment acceptance message, Location Updating Accept message, Tracking Area Update Accept, or Routing Area Update Accept message. In some cases, a timer can be adjusted using a multiplier in order to increase a period at which communications with the network occur. The network can transmit an indication to change a timer by multiplying the timer with the multiplier.

The system proposed is based on a virtual network linking the various apparatuses so as to form a hierarchical tree. This virtual network is reliant on the network for real communication between the apparatuses. However, the topology of the virtual network is independent of that of the real network. Each apparatus includes a diagnostic agent offering local self-diagnostic capabilities. Each apparatus enables offering a state of its operation and of the operation of the entire sub-network of which it is the father. The self-diagnostic capabilities of an apparatus are implemented either locally by the apparatus, or within apparatuses of its close network environment as a function of the capabilities of the various items of equipment.

  • Patent number: 9513893
Abstract: A digital broadcast network is disclosed that can provide scheduled updates for non-critical data in a different manner than critical data updates. Updates that included non-critical information can be scheduled to be broadcast, over a digital broadcast network, during an update window, which can be a specific period of time. Receiving devices can be notified of the update window and, utilizing background functionality, the non-critical updates can be accepted and applied at the receiving device. The non-critical updates might be accepted and applied during the update window if the receiving device is in an idle state or a period of low activity. The non-critical updates can be broadcast on a separate channel or stream. During periods other than during the update window, other data can be transmitted on the separate channel or stream. Critical updates can be applied in real-time.

  • Patent number: 9473931
Abstract: Various embodiments provide methods performed by an modem-assisted-service-classification (MASC) client application operating on a multi-SIM computing device for implementing MASC functionality for two or more subscriptions. In various embodiments, the MASC client may implement MASC functionality by associating MASC policies for one or more access point names (APNs) with a specific subscription and by applying those policies to applications associated with those one or more APNs while that specific subscription is in active communication with its network. Thus, by managing a mapping of subscriptions, APNs/networks, and applications, the MASC client may enable implementation of MASC functionality for a multi-SIM computing device.

  • Patent number: 9462036
Abstract: A method and apparatus turns a typical home telephone system into a platform for delivery of web based content and services. The preferred embodiment of the invention comprises a broadband enabled telephone system for the home and a series of web servers that collect, package, and deliver personalized content and services to all of the telephone handsets throughout the home. With this end-to-end solution, any information or services available via the web can be delivered through a broadband enabled telephone system. Through the web, each member of a family can build a profile which defines what information and services they want available through the handset. In addition, each handset can be dynamically personalized for any family member. The color screens on the handsets become windows through which an individual can view and interact with a broad range of content and services. The audio channels thus become an extension of the voice based services, such as messaging and voice chat.
