Abstract: A method in a network node for handling a transmission between a plurality of Transmission Points, TPs, and User Equipments, UEs, in a wireless network. The network node receives information from each respective UE out of a number of first UEs served by the network node, which information is related to the location of the UE. The network node then identifies a hot spot, based on the information received from the UEs. The hot spot is an area where the load density of UEs is above a first threshold. When a hot spot is defined the network node selects a plurality of TPs dedicated to serve the UEs 130 located in the hot spot and establishes a coordinated transmission mode from the plurality of dedicated TPs to the UEs located in the hot spot.

  • Patent number: 10172184
Abstract: A neutral home network (NHN) may support home-routed traffic between a user equipment (UE) and a network of a mobile network operator (MNO) associated with the UE. The NHN may transmit an access point name (APN) that indicates a public land mobile network (PLMN) identifier (ID) to the UE. If the NHN supports home-routed traffic, the NHN may transmit an APN that indicates an MNO PLMN ID. If the NHN does not support home-routed traffic, the NHN may transmit an APN that indicates an NHN PLMN ID. From the APN, the UE may determine whether the NHN supports home-routed traffic. If the NHN supports home-routed traffic, the UE may transmit a packet data network (PDN) connectivity request to the NHN. If the NHN does not support home-routed traffic, the UE may establish a tunnel to the MNO network through Internet access provided by the NHN.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for performing online charging for text messages. One embodiment comprises a system that handles a Mobile Originated (MO) text message. The system receives a send request for the MO text message, and generates an online credit request for the MO text message. The system determines a type of originating network for the MO text message, and inserts an indicator of the originating network type in the online credit request. The system may also determine a type of terminating network for the MO text message, and insert an indicator of the terminating network type in the online credit request. The system then transmits the online credit request to an online charging system to charge for the MO text message.

Abstract: A wireless communication device includes: controlling circuitry configured to selectively switch an operating channel between a first channel and a second channel; and a transmitter configured to transmit a first beacon signal through the first channel at a first cycle and transmit a second beacon signal through the second channel at a second cycle. A first period during which transmission/reception of a signal is possible and a second period during which transmission/reception of a signal is not performed are set for the second channel within a transmission interval of second beacon signals. The controlling circuitry switches the operating channel from the second channel to the first channel during the second period. The transmitter transmits the first beacon signal through the first channel during the second period. The controlling circuitry switches the operating channel from the first channel to the second channel by an end of the second period.

Abstract: Internet, voice calls, and messaging services have become ubiquitous and the means by which the services are accessed varies widely. The number and types of devices that may use these services have also proliferated. To serve a number and variety of client devices, a mobile Hotspot may be used, which is a device that may include a modem for mobile broadband access and a short range wireless link to distribute the services to local devices which may have such connectivity. Power consumption of battery powered client devices is an important consideration. A method and apparatus are disclosed that enable a client device to receive paging information from the mobile networks through a mobile Hotspot over a short range wireless link which may reduce power consumption of client devices.

Abstract: A user, identified by a network access identifier (NAI) or other user identifier, uses a communication device, identified by a hostname or other device identifier. An Internet Protocol (IP) address is obtained for the communication device, e.g., when the user logs in for access to a packet-switched network. An association between the IP address and the hostname is registered in a domain name server. An association between the user identifier and the hostname is registered in an RWHOIS server. An application may query the RWHOIS server to determine the hostname of the communication device being used by the user and then query the domain name server to determine the IP address of the communication device.
