Service Profile Patents (Class 455/432.3)
  • Patent number: 8655354
Abstract: A core network receives in an uplink message a first list of closed subscriber groups (CSGs) located within one gateway domain to which mobility is possible for a user equipment UE. The core network creates a third list by checking the first list received in the uplink message against a second list which is the UE's allowed CSG list, and sends the third list downlink to at least one of a serving gateway of the UE or a serving access node of the UE. In one embodiment the first list consists of all CSGs within a domain of the respective serving gateway/access node; and in another embodiment it consists of all neighbor closed subscriber group cells of the respective serving gateway/access node which sent the uplink message to the core network. In different embodiments the third list is a whitelist or a blacklist.

  • Patent number: 8649760
Abstract: An over the air (OTA) Prepaid system, and a corresponding method, allows wireless connectivity when a wireless network would typically reject a user, such as when the user's profile cannot be validated. In wireless networks, unrecognized users are denied service due to the inability of the network to collect funds from the user for the services to be provided. When such a rejection scenario occurs, the OTA Prepaid system automatically (no user interaction required) initiates the process of local account allocation.

  • Patent number: 8625764
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide optimization of telephone services through telephone calling plan/card analysis. The least expensive rate is found for telephone calls at any given time and/or date, either through static pre-entry of data, or through dynamic querying of rates via a web-based look-up table, and places calls according to an optimized calling plan. Specifically, in a typical embodiment, an outgoing/target telephone number for an intended telephone call is captured, and a corresponding destination geographic region is identified. Based on the geographic region, a calling plan resulting in a lowest price for the telephone call is identified. This is typically accomplished by consulting at least one table (e.g., call information table) that associates (among other things) calling plans and/or calling cards with geographic regions.

  • Patent number: 8619703
Abstract: In an access point device, a controller controls a wired interface communicating on wire with a network switcher accommodating access point devices and a wireless interface communicating wirelessly with a wireless terminal device located in its service area. Services are handed over between the access point devices responsively to the wireless terminal device moving. Access point devices before and after the handover of services are defined as a handover source and a hand over destination, respectively. A hand over at the hand over destination causes a data frame to be generated containing the MAC address of the wireless terminal device as a source address, a broadcast address as a destination address and address information of its own device. A table holds terminal connection information defining the relationship of the MAC address to the IP address of the wireless terminal device. The method further includes providing the roaming information by the first gateway to either the NRTRDE agent or the second gateway in real time.

  • Patent number: 8583110
Abstract: A method of disseminating topology information related to a subscriber in a system having one or more networks, each network having access devices and policy functions, includes identifying a current location of the subscriber by a serving policy function. The method further includes forwarding information relating to the current location from the serving policy function to an anchor policy function associated with the subscriber. The process of identifying the location of the subscriber and forwarding the information to the anchor policy server is repeated each time the subscriber changes its physical location. The system uses the current location information to route policy information from the anchor policy function to the policy function that is serving the subscriber. The system may use a push model, a pull model, or a combination thereof, to disseminate the topology information.

  • Patent number: 8577339
Abstract: A technique and apparatus to provide status tracking of presence and/or location of wireless devices to requesting entities inside and/or outside a particular wireless system. Presence and/or location information is provided to entities outside a particular servicing wireless network via mechanisms of call processing components of a mobile network and standard mechanisms available to any appropriately conforming MSC element. In one embodiment, a wireless chat automatic status tracking system utilizes a change in mobile registration status to automatically forward or copy a registration notification (REGNOT) message to an external IP application, to notify a chat group system outside the wireless network of current status information activity regarding a relevant device. Change in mobile registration is communicated via a suitable signaling link between a HLR and the chat group system.

When a subscriber profile or subscription information is changed or updated, this is detected and a registration procedure for registering a terminal device (40) of the subscriber to a new serving network element (12) is initiated in response to the result of a checking step for checking whether a capability of a network element (10) serving a terminal device (40) of said subscriber is still in accordance with said changed subscription information. Thereby, an automatic or semi-automatic adaptation of the serving entity to the changed subscription can be achieved.

Abstract: A system and method of provisioning services for a mobile communication device are disclosed. A provisioning request including provisioning information and specifying a provisioning operation and a first communication service is prepared on the mobile communication device and sent to a provisioning system. Processing of the provisioning request is dependent upon whether or not a second communication service has been activated for the mobile communication device. If the mobile communication device is outside a coverage area of a wireless communication network when a provisioning request is prepared, the request is stored at the mobile communication device and sent to the provisioning system when the mobile communication device enters the coverage area. The provisioning system preferably manages service provisioning for multiple services, any of which may be hosted by different service providers.
