Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods for selecting or reselecting a cell from among a plurality of cells. The present disclosure is also providing mobile stations for performing these methods, and computer readable media the instructions of which cause the mobile station to perform the methods described herein. For this purpose, the mobile station is detecting cells which are candidates (i.e. candidate cells) for selection or reselection, utilizing either the normal coverage mode or the enhanced coverage mode. Further, the mobile station is selecting or reselecting a cell among the candidate cells detected, utilizing either the normal coverage mode or the enhanced coverage mode. The mobile station is performing the detection and the selection or reselection on the basis of stored information indicating whether or not at least one of the candidate cells supports that the detection and the selection or reselection utilize the enhanced coverage mode.

  • Patent number: 10285216
Abstract: Various embodiments provide dynamic reconfiguration of a connectivity configuration associated with a wireless networking device. The wireless networking device maintains multiple wireless connections with multiple user devices using a combination of beam-formed wireless signals and omnidirectional wireless signals. The wireless network device generates a list of connected or associated user devices that are capable of beam-formed wireless communications, and obtains metrics for each respective user device. The wireless networking device prioritizes the list based upon the respective metrics, and determines whether a current connectivity configuration differs from the prioritization. Responsive to determining a difference, the wireless networking device can dynamically reconfigure the connectivity configuration by modifying a connection type associated with at least one user device.

Abstract: A method and system for an enhanced uplink (EU) operation in a wireless communication system during soft handover. The system comprises a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), at least two Node-Bs, and a radio network controller (RNC). One Node-B may be designated as a primary Node-B, and the primary Node-B may control EU operation during soft handover including uplink scheduling and hybrid automatic repeat request (H-ARQ). Soft buffer corruption is avoided during soft handover by controlling H-ARQ by the primary Node-B. Alternatively, an RNC may control EU operation during soft handover including H-ARQ. In this case, an RNC generates final acknowledge/non-acknowledge (ACK/NACK) decision based on the error check results of the Node-Bs.

Abstract: An inter-cell interference coordination procedure in heterogeneous networks (HetNets) is enhanced based on utilization of cell profile data associated with neighbor access points to improve HetNet spectrum efficiency, mobility performance, and/or overall network capacity. In one aspect, a macro access point can receive cell profile data associated with neighbor access points and modify a power level of reduced-power almost blank subframes (ABS) transmitted by the macro access point to manage macro cell capacity. Further, the macro access point can configure the ABS pattern and transmit the ABS pattern to the neighbor access points. Based on the ABS pattern, the neighbor access points can schedule transmissions to user equipment that are located at (or close to) their cell-edge to reduce inter-cell interference.
