  • Patent number: 11394437
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A codebook adaptation may be performed for a flexible user equipment (UEs) to determine a codebook for a physical configuration of the UE. For example, if the UE determines that the physical configuration does not correspond to a pre-loaded codebook in its memory, the UE may provide information about the physical configuration to a base station to determine a corresponding codebook. Additionally, the UE may request that the base station provide channel information to assist with the codebook determination. In some cases, this request may indicate for the base station to allocate a specific number of channel state information reference signal symbols that the UE can use for the codebook determination. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may generate the codebook internally and then signal to the base station a request for a beam refinement procedure with the generated codebook.

  • Patent number: 11395198
Abstract: Customer equipment establishes a wireless connection with a first wireless base station in a network environment. The first wireless base station is operative to provide the customer equipment wireless connectivity to a remote network. The customer equipment detects presence of a second wireless base station in the network environment. In response to detecting a condition such as that the first wireless base station is unable to provide a satisfactory level of communication quality to the customer equipment, the customer equipment initiates a handoff of the customer equipment to the second wireless base station via a communication to the first wireless base station. The communication mispresents a power level associated with receiving the wireless signals from the second wireless base station. The indicated power level prompts the first wireless base station to handoff the customer equipment to the second wireless base station.

  • Patent number: 11382026
Abstract: An LTE network extension (LNE) system includes an LTE access gateway (LAG) and a provisioned database. A plurality of LTE access radios in the LNE system broadcast the same shared PLMN ID (sPLMN ID). The sPLMN ID corresponds to a plurality of service provider core networks, each with a different PLMN. The provisioned database includes information identifying which networks are allowed to use the LNE system and includes service provider network address information. An LTE access radio, transmitting the sPLMN ID detects an attach request from a UE, and forwards the attach request to the LAG, which decides if access is to be allowed, based on a service provider home network PLMN included in an IMSI in the attach request and information in the provisioned database. If access is allowed, the LAG serves as a proxy between the LTE access radio and the UE's service provider home network.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and techniques described herein are directed to improved wireless handovers based on device movement. User equipment (UE) can be wirelessly connected to a network via a serving cell, while handover operations allow the UE to transition a connection from the serving cell to a candidate cell to facilitate mobility and connection continuity. In some cases, the serving cell can be a wide area network and the candidate cell can be a small cell, whereby the small cell utilizes millimeter wavelength communications. In some cases, where a candidate cell can provide a higher quality connection compared to the serving cell, a handover decision can be based at least in part on motion data associated with the UE. For example, if a speed of the UE is above a threshold, the UE or network can be prevented from initiating a handover from the serving cell to the candidate cell.

  • Patent number: 11343640
Abstract: A device and method for a user equipment (UE) to implement power savings mechanisms when operating within a significant location. The UE identifies that the UE is at a significant location. The significant location is a location relative to a currently camped cell of a network. At a first time and at the significant location, the UE performs a type of operation related to the network connection. The UE stores information corresponding to the performance of the type of operation at the first time in a profile associated with the significant location. At a second time and at the significant location, the UE performs the type of operation related to the network connection. The performance of the type of operation at the second time is modified based on the information stored in the profile associated with the significant location.

  • Patent number: 11343819
Abstract: Information handling systems and methods for deploying and managing mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) utilize a MVNO provisioning agent for communicating to a direct access manager resource requests associated with a Radio Access Network (RAN) in a network service provider (NSP). The direct access manager uses the resource requests to allocate resources in one or more RANs. The MVNO provisioning agent RAN receives endpoint information and a confirmation from the direct access manager regarding the allocated resources and passes the information to a MVNO deploying agent that deploys a customized MVNO Evolved Packet Core (EPC) in an EPC container. An MVNO association agent initiates a connection between RAN MVNO agents and the MVNO EPC to connect the deployed MNVO with the NSP, such that resource parameters may be communicated, e.g., in one or more control planes, from the MVNO EPC to the RAN MVNO agent(s) to control the allocated resources.

  • Patent number: 11343733
Abstract: A system for delaying or inhibiting data is provided in order to shorten the time required for a reselection process from a first communication protocol to a second communication protocol. Reselection from the first communication protocol to the second communication protocol (e.g., 3G to 4G) requires a period of time without data transfers to allow the reselection to complete. The system delays or inhibits data transfers on the mobile device until the reselection process completes or the mobile device is idle for a predetermined length of time. In an embodiment, the system can buffer outgoing data and then send the data once the reselection has completed. In other embodiments, the system can drop packet sessions or ignore incoming packet pages. In another embodiment, the system can delay or inhibit data based on the priority of the data.

  • Patent number: 11330492
Abstract: A target RAN node (3) receives, from a core network (5), a message requesting a handover of a radio terminal (1) from a bearer-based network to a bearer-less network. This handover request message includes flow information related to at least one session to be established in the bearer-less network in order to transfer at least one packet flow of the radio terminal (1). The target RAN node (3) transmits, to the core network (5), a handover acknowledge response message containing a transparent container that includes a radio resource configuration information derived from the flow information and is to be forwarded to a source RAN node associated (2) through the core network (5). It is thus, for example, possible to appropriately configuring an AS layer of a target RAT in an inter-RAT handover.
