  • Patent number: 8700063
Abstract: Implementations relate to systems and methods for generating called device location based on cell sector information for the called mobile device. Implementations relate to platforms and techniques relate in which a calling device can call a called device, such as a cellular telephone or network-enabled media player. The network can locate the called device using a paging process transmitted via the mobile switch(es) and associated base station(s) of the called device service provider. The called device can respond to the paging process by transmitting a message. The cell sector location of the base station to which the called device responds can be captured as the current location of the called device. The network can report the location of the called device to the calling device using different message formats, including SMS or USSD messages.

The two measurement components may be measurements performed on physical signal and/or channels transmitted from a same transmitting node and measured by a measuring node. Each measurement component includes one or more measurement configurations, where each configuration is of a resource, signal, transmitter, and receiver configuration types. The two measurement components have configurations of at least one common configuration type in which the configurations of the common type are different for the two measurement components.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention disclose a measurement compensation method, apparatus, server, and system in base station positioning. The method includes: receiving a reference signal time difference RSTD measurement value between different base stations that is reported by a mobile terminal; acquiring an RSTD measurement compensation value corresponding to a positioning aid device, where the positioning aid device is pre-deployed in a fixed position, the mobile terminal is positioned in a range corresponding to the fixed position, and the RSTD measurement compensation value is used to compensate RSTD measurement within the range; and compensating the RSTD measurement value according to the RSTD measurement compensation value to obtain an RSTD compensation result. By adopting the present invention, the RSTD measurement value reported by the mobile terminal can be compensated, so as to improve the positioning precision of the mobile terminal.

A user request is received, the user request including at least a speech input received from a user. The user request including the speech input is processed to obtain a representation of user intent for identifying items of a selection domain based on at least one selection criterion. A prompt is provided to the user, the prompt presenting two or more properties relevant to items of the selection domain and requesting the user to specify relative importance between the two or more properties. A listing of search results is provided to the user, where the listing of search results has been obtained based on the at least one selection criterion and the relative importance provided by the user.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for presence state determination at an access point of a station determines whether a station associated with the access point is responsive to the access point to indicate the station is “present” or “not present”. The access point informs a presence server when the station's presence state changes. The presence server does not therefore need to rely on presence handshaking between the presence server and the station.

  • Patent number: 8660573
Abstract: A technique to allow a server such as a location server to throttle concurrent or closely timed location requests for the position of a given wireless device such that within a certain time period preferably only one location request will be initiated to the positioning engine and the remaining closely-timed location requests will be buffered or cached. When a position for the given wireless device is returned per the outstanding location request, then the retrieved position will be used to respond to each of the buffered location requests. Thus, a plurality of location requests are satisfied with a single request to the positioning engine. By optimizing the use of cached position requests, throttling of location requests per the invention reduces network traffic significantly, increases the efficiency of a positioning server (therefore reducing business cost), and provides for an improved grade or quality of location based services in general.

Abstract: A user registers with an automated transportation use and billing system. The user's geographical location/position is monitored and periodically compared with the geographical location/position of one or more public transportation systems. When a determination is made that the user's geographical location/position is the same as the geographical location/position of a public transportation system, an assumption is made that the user is making use of the public transportation system and once the user's geographical location/position data differs from the public transportation system's geographical location/position data, it is further assumed that the user is no longer making use of the public transportation system. Data indicating the users assumed use of the public transportation system, calculated as described above, is then recorded and credited to the user's account.

Abstract: The disclosure provides devices, systems, and methods for determining a position of a mobile communication device by communicating with the device via a Short Messaging System (SMS). A location query is submitted to an SMS center, which formats a first SMS message for delivery to the device. The first SMS message is delivered to a designated SMS port on the device. A location logic on the device receives the SMS via the SMS port, extracts the location query, and attempts to calculate a location from received satellite signals. The calculated location is submitted back to the SMS server, either to be forwarded to the location server, or to a network element or device that submitted the location query to the SMS center in the first place. Assistance data may additionally be delivered to the mobile communication device via the SMS port.
