Abstract: Disclosed is a transceiver for an envelope following system that includes a power amplifier (PA) having a signal input, a signal output, and a power input that receives power from a power management system that modulates a supply voltage provided to the PA in response to an envelope signal. The transceiver includes a calibration subsystem that is adapted to provide a first test signal to the signal input of the PA and to provide a second test signal to the power management system in place of the envelope signal. The calibration subsystem is programmed with calibration methods that sweep the first test signal through a first range and to sweep the second test signal through a second range in order to derive values that make up a pseudo-envelope look-up table (LUT) that is usable by the transceiver.

Abstract: A wireless transceiver includes an antenna array that transmits an outbound RF signal containing outbound data to remote transceivers and that receives an inbound RF signal containing inbound data from the remote RF transceivers, wherein the antenna array is configurable based on a control signal. An antenna configuration controller generates the control signal to configure the antenna array to hop among a plurality of radiation patterns based on a hopping sequence. An RF transceiver section generates the outbound RF signal based on the outbound data and that generates the inbound data based on the inbound RF signal. In one configuration, a switching section selectively couples a selected one of the antennas in the array to the RF transceiver section, based on the control signal. In another configuration, the RF transceiver section includes an RF section for each antenna in the array.

A device will hold data that indicates a priority order for selecting user-interface display elements, such as buttons, labels, etc., to present. When a user-interface skin is loaded onto the device and the skin has a limited number of slots (i.e., segments, spaces, places, etc.) for presenting user-interface display elements, the priority order will be used as a basis to select which elements to present in the available slots. For example, if the skin has only five slots for presentation of user-interface display elements, just the top five elements in the priority list will be presented. Those top five elements can then be presented in any order, such as in priority order, alphabetical order, or randomly.

When a PoC client performing an Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) PoC multimedia call service supports a plurality of media types, and media types supported by PoC clients are not common, a PoC session can be established to support only media types set to be transmitted in a first response message after the session is established. In addition, a method of efficiently managing a session by updating the session when a newly supported media type is provided or when a recipient of an existing media type is changed is suggested.

Abstract: Switching signals between a mobile communications device and a wireless headset can include setting a switch in a first position; connecting, through the switch, signals received from a mobile communications device to a wireless adapter for transmission to a wireless headset; and repositioning the switch, in response to input, to a second position, wherein signals received by the wireless adapter from the wireless headset are connected through the switch to the mobile communications device. Further, signals can be transmitted from the wireless adapter to the wireless headset using a short-range radio frequency protocol. Additionally, the input in response to which the switch is repositioned can be received from a hand-held trigger switch.

Abstract: In one illustrative example, a mobile station includes a wireless transceiver which operates with a wireless communication network; a processor; memory coupled to the processor; and a user interface which includes a Push-To-Talk (PTT) switch for transmitting a PTT voice communication through the wireless transceiver, a PTT replay switch for replaying a PTT voice communication previously received through the wireless transceiver which is stored in the memory, and a speaker for outputting audible voice signals. The wireless transceiver is operative to receive a PTT key message; receive voice data of a PTT voice communication following the PTT key message; and receive a PTT dekey message following the voice data. The processor is operative to cause the voice data of the PTT voice communication to be recorded in the memory based on receiving the PTT key message, and cause the recording of voice data of the PTT voice communication to be terminated based on receiving the PTT dekey message.

Abstract: A method and server for establishing a push to talk type service such as push to talk over cellular (PoC). The server receives a message from Client A indicating one or more media types that Client A will accept in defined circumstances in a push to talk type session. When the server receives a message from Client B inviting Client A to establish a push to talk type session for one or more proposed media types, the server determines whether the media type(s) proposed by Client B are acceptable to Client A. If at least one proposed media type is acceptable, the server forwards the invitation to Client A with a list of the acceptable media types. Thereafter the session is established.

Abstract: An anti-theft system, especially in the form of an access and/or starting system for a vehicle has a vehicle-mounted receiver for receiving a request signal containing the instruction to find out whether objects that are associated with the vehicle, e.g. lost identifiers, are located in specific areas of the vehicle. The anti-theft system further has a vehicle-mounted control and evaluation unit for verifying whether the objects are in the specific areas of the vehicle and outputting information on whether an object that is associated with the vehicle has been found. The anti-theft system finally has a vehicle-mounted transmitter for transmitting a result signal containing the information on whether objects have been found. Such an anti-theft system allows an identifier, for example, which is associated with a user, to start a search from a distance in order to verify whether certain objects are located near or inside the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 8144846
Abstract: A system and method for interrupting a transmitting communication unit in a communication system. When a call is first initiated, the call is assigned to a communication channel and broadcast from a base site using the assigned communication channel. If it is determined that a transmitting communication unit should be interrupted, a zone controller signals a base site to generate an interrupt message. The base site generates an interrupt message containing an identification code for the transmitting communication unit and broadcasts the interrupt message on an outbound link of the communication channel. The transmitting communication unit, while transmitting on an inbound link of the communication channel, continuously monitors the outbound link. If the transmitting communication unit receives, on the outbound link, an interrupt message containing an identification code matching its own identification code, the transmitting communication unit stops transmitting.
