Abstract: A pulley comprising a circumferential groove which has a non-flat groove surface for increased friction against a belt to be received and a manufacturing method therefor. According to the method a pulley material is forged into a basic pulley configuration which is the shape of the material ready for forming the circumferential groove. The basic configuration comprises a plurality of axial grooves which extend in a generally axial direction over a surface of the pulley in which the circumferential groove is to be formed. Then the circumferential groove is rolling-formed in the pulley material. Thus, a non-flat groove surface for a higher friction is provided. Alternatively, the higher friction groove surface may be formed by roughening a sand blasting, shot blasting or chemical surface treatment.
Abstract: Power-transmission sheaves conventionally include a centrally-open and shaft-engageable hub portion surrounding a directionally transversely extending hub-axis and together with at least one grooved belt-training portion that is surroundably connected to the hub portion and that provides a grooved outward periphery for the sheave. The at least one belt-training portion includes transversely separated flanged sides for the belt-training groove. Such conventional power-transmission sheaves are given enhanced belt engagement by providing one, or preferably both, of the flanged sides with a plurality of transversely extending openings therethrough.

Abstract: The invention relates to a driving wheel for car engines or the like, incorporating a gear wheel, which is intended to cooperate with a cogged belt, and a pulley attached to one side of the gear wheel and arrested to this. The gear wheel molded from a plastic or similar material having a coefficient of thermal expansion higher than steel's coefficient of thermal expansion and by having a helix of steel or another material with a coefficient of thermal expansion similar to or identical with that of steel embedded in the gear of the wheel radially inside the cogs, whereby the helix has such strength and dimension that it determines the thermal expansion properties of the gear rim.
Abstract: A clutch rotor for use in an electromagnetic clutch and the method for producing a clutch rotor is disclosed. The clutch rotor comprises a rotor member and a V-shaped pulley to receive a drive belt. The rotor member includes an outer cylindrical portion, an inner cylindrical portion and a circular end plate connected therebetween. The outer cylindrical member is provided with a groove which is formed on the outer surface thereof for disposing the pulley. The pulley is formed by applying a roller working operation to a cylindrical member. Simultaneously with forming the pulley, an inner annular surface of the pulley is interfitted in the groove of the rotor member thereby simplifying construction of the device.
Abstract: A V-pulley is adapted for a continuously variable transmission which uses a chain belt composed of a plurality of chain blocks connected in its longitudinal direction, and a pair of V-pulleys operatively connected to each other through the chain belt. The V-pulley comprises a pair of conical pulley faces that the chain belt contacts, each of which is provided with a rough surface and a combination pattern of abrasion-prone and abrasion-resistant sections alternatively arranged at intervals shorter than the contact length and width of each chain block.
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a poly-V pulley includes a process for slitting and compressing the peripheral edge portion of an essentially flat blank for forming a widened and thickened flange wall. A series of relatively narrow, deep, V-shaped grooves are cold rolled. The poly-V pulley thus produced has the flange wall with poly-V grooves, from the intermediate portion of which a web extends radially inward. This structure provides good dynamic balance of rotation for the pulley and thus prolongs the life not only of the pulleys per se but also the belt to be put around the pulley. Further, the manufacturing method allows the manufacture of relatively small diameter poly-V pulleys.
Abstract: A belt pulley 1 for a belt drive presenting a belt groove 3 having a transition area to the radially outer cylindrical surface 2' which is rounded at a decreasing radius. Previously, this corner was merely chamfered or rounded at a small radius, which in use led to mechanical damage to the belt placed on it. This invention provides a parabola-shaped contour for the transition area, which effectively avoids mechanical damage to the belt, wherein the largest radius RO of the transition curve is located at the later's junction with the groove face 4'.
Abstract: A roller, especially a tension roller for a belt drive has a hollow hub supporting a rolling bearing, with a pulley or rotating body supported on the outer ring of the bearing. The hollow hub has at least one closed end, with a mounting hole therethrough to enable mounting to a machine frame. The closed end or bottom of the hub is setback from the adjoining facing end of the hub, by an axially projecting annular rim. The hub may be formed of one part, or of two parts, each having a setback closed bottom.
Abstract: The invention refers to wheel-shaped objects such a pulley discs, which incorporate a rigid internal hub, a rigid outer circumferential part and a web interconnecting these parts and being of a material which has a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than the hub and the circumferential part. The invention is characterized therein that the web portion in circular cross-section has a zigzag-like design and that through-grooves are made in the web portion, where this connects to the circumferential part, thus that the material of the web portion at cooling can disengage itself from the circumferential part at these grooves thereby to prevent not desired tensile stresses to develop.
Abstract: A roller casing for a pulley is comprised of coaxial ring halves mounted one over the other. The diameter of the running surface can be varied without varying the bearing size by employing corrugations in the circumferential direction, or by providing lateral radially outwardly directed rims on the inner ring part. Alternatively the iner ring may be comprised of two ring halves having their central parts directed toward one another.
