Abstract: Every link member is composed of individual link member disks having designs different from each other. All link member disks have tongues and projections projecting above these tongues, which projections comprise thrust surfaces. The link member disks of every link member abut each other via these thrust surfaces and the two outermost link member disks of every link member are intended to abut via their thrust surfaces the conically extending surfaces of the driving disks of an infinitely variable transmission having disks looped by a flexible belt. The link member disks of every link member have different thicknesses viewed in the direction of the pivot pins which penetrate the tongues.

  • Patent number: 4581002
Abstract: A push-type metal V-belt for use with V-grooved pulleys is produced with a single formed and fan-folded strip of sheet metal. The folded strip has alternately tight-folded and open-folded portions having less height when viewed edgewise of the open-folded portions. During the forming of the strip, adjacent drive edges are formed so that when folded, these edges are aligned so as to become drive surfaces of the belt. When viewed in a lateral section, the drive surfaces are the outer edges of a substantially trapezoidal surface. Also, during the forming of the strip, a plurality of lateral slots are formed to provide an area or space for housing a plurality of metal bands which maintain the fan-folded strip in a continuous belt or loop configuration.

  • Patent number: 4579550
Abstract: There is described a transmission belt for use in a constantly variable power transmission of the type utilizing pulleys of variable effective diameter, the transmission belt comprising a plurality of identical links of substantially trapezoidal form, having pulley-engaging traction surfaces (1, 32) at their non-parallel edges and being formed on each face with a series of aligned tunnel-like loops (3, 4, 30), the two series of loops on each link being complementary so that when two links are superposed, the loops on adjacent faces define a cylindrical cavity in which a pin (11, 14, 21) is receivable to provide a tension-transmitting articulation between the links. The links are also formed with compression-transmitting surfaces (7, 41, 57) on each of their faces, these surfaces abutting when the links are in a linear array. Optionally, the longer of the parallel sides (43) of each link may be adapted to carry a plain tension belt (40) to augment the power transmission capacity of the belt.
