Publication number: 20120144752Abstract: A method of operating a window having a sash and a window opening limit device includes moving the sash from a closed position to a limited position. When in the limited position, the window opening limit device is in a projected position, and the sash is engaged with the window opening limit device. Moving the window opening limit device to a retracted position disengages the sash and the window opening limit device. The sash may then be moved from the limited position to an open range. When the sash is returned to the closed position, the window opening limit device automatically returns to the projected position, and the sash is disengaged with the window opening limit device.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 21, 2011Publication date: June 14, 2012Inventor: Steve Piltingsrud

Patent number: 7654608Abstract: A sliding door for a vehicle has a door bracket. A track is mounted along the vehicle and extends to a remote end. A roller bracket is movable between a first position proximate the opening and a second position at the end of the track. The roller bracket includes an articulating arm retained by the roller bracket by a first pivot and pivotally retained at a second end by the door bracket. The articulating arm has a first orientation for rotationally positioning the sliding door toward the closed position and a second orientation for rotationally positioning the sliding door into the open position. Movement of the roller bearing into the second position results in the articulating arm moving from the first to the second orientation. An over-center spring mechanism may maintain the positioning of the roller bracket relative to the sliding door throughout the travel of the bracket.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2008Date of Patent: February 2, 2010Assignee: GM Global Technology Operations, Inc.Inventors: Gary W. Patent number: 4733499Abstract: The track for the panel of a sliding door or window confines a locating device with two resilient leaves which have first end portions secured to the bottom part of the track and second end portions normally extending upwardly into the path of movement of the rim of a wheel at the underside of the panel. The second end portions of the leaves are disposed between the first end portions and define a gap wherein the lowermost portion of the rim comes to rest after the rim has been caused to roll over one of the leaves and to be arrested by the upwardly extending second end portion of the other leaf. If the panel is to be shifted to a different position, it is pushed with a force which suffices to enable the rim of the wheel to depress the second end portion of one of the leaves whereupon the rim rolls over the one leaf toward a different position. A foot can be clamped to the track to positively prevent the panel from moving beyond a selected position.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 1987Date of Patent: March 29, 1988Inventor: Jurgen Guddas

The keeper is a channel-like element with the terminal edge of one wall having interruptions for mating and interlocking with portions of the sill, such as spaced tabs adapted to extend into weep holes in the sill, or notches adapted to fit around internal sill projections. The keeper also has an upper surface confronting the lower rail in which a number of spaced openings are provided. A latch element is vertically slidable on a stile of the sash, and is adapted to be lowered so it extends into one of the openings in the keeper. In this manner, the sash is releasably locked in any of a plurality of positions, with security maintained because the keeper is locked against movement relative to the sill.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1976Date of Patent: September 13, 1977Assignee: Rusco Industries, Inc.Inventor: Harry M. Patent number: 3959926Abstract: Tiltable window construction having metallic sash and frames. There is disclosed a window construction adapted for manufacture from metallic components such as extruded aluminum, arranged for embodiment as a double-hung window, capable of simple and rapid tilting inwardly of the building for washing and/or other treatment. The sash are also capable of quick and easy removal in their entirety from the window frame but are tightly and reliably sealed thereto when in use for the effective prevention of the entry of wind and water. Each sash of the window is held by simple latch mechanism in normal sliding condition and when tilted inwardly automatically becomes locked into the then-existing position.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 1974Date of Patent: June 1, 1976Assignee: Kaufmann Window and Door CorporationInventors: Marshall V.
