Publication number: 20130000207Abstract: A device for attenuating movement of a door includes a housing having a first surface spaced apart from a second surface for defining a sliding path for an elongated sliding member. The elongated sliding member engages with at least one of the first and second surfaces when the elongated member slides in a first direction. A connecting member having a first end connected to the door and the other end to the elongated sliding member is provided so that opening of the door moves the sliding member in the first direction. Damping material is disposed between the elongated sliding member and at least one of the first and second surfaces. The damping material applies surface tension forces to the elongated sliding member when sliding in the first direction such that movement of the door attenuates or dampens the movement of the door.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 29, 2011Publication date: January 3, 2013Inventors: Brian Dale Cook, Ian Froi Garcia Divinagracia

Publication number: 20120304542Abstract: A door lock retainer may include a door-latch-mechanism frame, a retainer, and a door-lock cylinder. The door-latch-mechanism frame may support a linkage and include a landing surface. The retainer may include an aperture and a first surface engaging the landing surface and restricting deflection of the linkage. The door-lock cylinder may be received in the aperture and supported by the retainer.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 2, 2011Publication date: December 6, 2012Inventors: John S. Kargilis, Terence P. Patent number: 8322091Abstract: A plastic window frame assembly is disclosed that includes rigid molded corner sections. Each of the corner sections has opposite ends. A pair of offset tabs extend outward from each of the opposite ends. The corners are molded so as to include integrally formed non-rigid seals. Lineal rail sections are located between the corner sections. Each of the rail sections has channels, one each formed in an exterior and an interior surface of the rail section for receiving, respectively, the offset tabs of the corner sections to locate and to align the corner sections with a rail section. The channels include a glazing channel extending along the length of the rail section for receiving a glass or plastic pane. The tabs are connected to a rail section such that the tabs and a portion of a rail section together define stake holds, each of which proceeds from an exterior surface of the frame and extends therethrough but does not penetrate the interior surface or the tabs of the frame.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 2010Date of Patent: December 4, 2012Assignee: Atwood Mobile Products, LLCInventors: Mark L. Patent number: 8325409Abstract: Methods and devices are provided for selectively allowing light to pass through a substantially transparent substrate or blocking the light, at least to some degree. Some embodiments provide a plurality of reflective vanes that can be positioned in at least two positions. According to some such implementations, when the vanes are in an open position, incident light is allowed to pass through the window. The light may reflect from two or more vanes before passing through the window. When a sufficient voltage is applied between vane electrodes and other electrodes, the vanes are pulled down, reflecting back at least some of the incident light. The voltage may be controlled according to detected temperature, ambient light intensity, etc.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2009Date of Patent: December 4, 2012Assignee: Qualcomm MEMS Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Srinivasan Sethuraman, Clayton Ka Tsun Chan

Publication number: 20120285098Abstract: A structural door beam for vehicles, and a method for making the same, is provided. The structural door beam has an elongate multiple channel structure defined by a central web of given thickness and known material composition, and includes end mounting-flanges integrally formed therewith. The elongate multiple channel structure comprises two outer channels separated one from the other in a lateral direction, and a third channel disposed between the two outer channels. The third channel defines a trough within the medial region between the two outer channels. A first one of the two outer channels is drawn to a peak of known height and the trough is drawn to a known depth, such that the trough to peak distance exceeds a maximum distance that is achievable in a single cold forming operation for the given thickness and material composition of the web.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 24, 2010Publication date: November 15, 2012Inventor: Frank Rakei

Patent number: 8286396Abstract: A plastic profile for window, door and facade elements includes a plastic profile body, which extends in a longitudinal direction (z), and at least one outer side, which is located outside in a transverse direction (x) perpendicular to the longitudinal direction (z) as viewed in a cross-section (x-y) perpendicular to the longitudinal direction (z). The outer side includes two roll-in protrusions configured such that a reinforcement element is connectable with the plastic profile body by a rolled-in connection. The reinforcement element has at least one of a hollow profile, a partially-open profile and a receptacle portion configured to accommodate a corner connector, wherein at least one of the hollow profile, the partially-open profile and the receptacle portion is disposed between the roll-in protrusions in the rolled-in state.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2007Date of Patent: October 16, 2012Assignee: Technoform Bautec Holding GmbHInventors: Erwin Brunnhofer, Thomas Muster, Ferdinand Bebber

Patent number: 8276318Abstract: A door opening and closing device for a vehicle that can remove an object attached to operation surface of a door handle with a simpler structure is provided. The device includes a door handle. The door handle includes a grip and a deflective portion. The grip protrudes outward and defines a space between the outer surface of the door outer panel and the grip to allow gripping by a user. The deflective portion is located at an end of the grip and extends from the outer surface of the grip along the outer surface of the door outer panel in a direction crossing front and rear directions of the vehicle to direct air flow flowing along the outer surface of the door outer panel to flow through at least the space of the grip to the operation surface.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2009Date of Patent: October 2, 2012Assignee: Aisin Seiki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Shoichi Hashiba, Yuichi Inoue, Yukinori Wada
