  • Patent number: 6681532
Abstract: The present invention is a door adaptable for work spaces in a modular work area environment. The door is bi-fold in design, can be attached to any flat surface, and is particularly suited for attachment to the flat end portion of the modular wall separating two adjacent modular work spaces. The door can then be used to close the entry and egress area of either adjacent modular work space areas. When not in use, the door can be folded such that it rests in a position perpendicular to the shared modular wall, such that the entry and egress areas of both adjacent modular work spaces are open.

  • Patent number: 6338227
Abstract: A light alloy frame profile system for windows and doors, in particular sliding-swinging door systems with a side piece and at least one movable door leaf, includes a plurality of profiles that are fixed to one another by means of fastening areas. To improve such a frame profile system so that it is substantially aesthetically and functionally uniform, and so that it may be used with simple and material-conserving fabrication methods as well as uniform installation techniques, the fastening area may be realized in the form of a rail that is formed by two hooks and a projection located between them.

  • Patent number: 6308463
Abstract: A door having a core made from a composite panel material such as medium density fiberboard or particleboard is provided with a plurality of dowels which are secured, such as by an adhesive, within openings extending into the core. The dowels and openings are positioned in alignment with the screw holes in the hinges which mount the door to a jamb or cabinet. Screws or other fasteners extend through the screw openings in the hinges and are secured within the dowels. The dowels permit conventional wood screws to be used to mount the hinges to the door and improve the screw holding capability of the door. The dowels also eliminate the need to use edge banding for screw holding purposes and thereby eliminate the problems associated with the joint formed between the edge banding and the core material.

Abstract: Each of the hinges 30, 30 is positioned at upper and lower positions of the hinge-side vertical member 20 correspondingly, wherein each position is symmetrical relative to the horizontal plane which divides the hinge-side vertical member 20 in halves. A latch hole 52 of the latch receiver 50 is provided at a position of the latch-side vertical member 25 where the member 25 is divided in halves. A latch 40 is positioned higher than a door handle 90 capable of reversing. Each hinge is attached through one touch operation in order for use in a double hinged door system.

  • Publication number: 20010025396
Abstract: The invention relates to a hinge, in particular for doors, windows or the like, with two hinge wings (1, 2) which can be fastened on a hinge bearer (11 or 12), wherein at least one hinge wing (1) is adjustable transversely to its installation plane (17) through two setting screws (21a, 21b) disposed offset in height, which can be screwed into the hinge bearer (11) of the hinge wing (1) transversely to its installation plane (17). By actuating the setting screws (21a, 21b) it is possible to adjust the premounted hinge readily and finely into a precisely vertical installation position.

  • Patent number: 6264901
Abstract: A door (18) for sealing the opening (14) to a walk-in steam sterilizer is formed from a stainless steel plate (50), sized to cover the opening, and a load-bearing framework (52), which is formed from a material having a different coefficient of thermal expansion to that of the plate, such as carbon steel. The framework includes a set of horizontally-spaced I beams (60) which are connected together at their ends by an outer frame (64). The framework is flexibly connected to an exterior surface of the plate by a number of flexible joints (56), such as carbon steel straps. The straps are welded at either end to the plate to form loops. The I beams are supported in the loops. As the temperature inside the sterilizer changes, causing the components of the door to expand or contract, the framework and the plate are able to expand or contract at different rates without resulting in bowing or other distortion of the door. Sets of rollers (22, 24) are rotatably mounted to upper and lower ends of the outer frame.
