Panel With Closure Feature Patents (Class 49/501)
  • Patent number: 5727349
Abstract: For refrigeration units such as walk-in coolers and freezers, a shell, door frame and door panel assembly adapted to enclosed insulative panel constructions wherein the shell confines a selected standard and/or oversize door frame. The door frames are of composite plastic and steel construction including lightweight external plastic hardtracks forming top, sides and screed bottom, the purposes of the external construction being to confine frame elements which are formed of steel, such that by virtue of the separation of elements forming jamb frames and header frames, applied insulation to the overall assembly is rendered most effective. The standard and oversize door panel assemblies are adapted to encompass a precut retainer by means of inside and outside panels, the latter of which contains backup plates for hinges and for door closers and the like.

The outer panel is made in a mold having a mold cavity and a plurality of passages extending outwardly from the cavity. During the molding process, ejector pins disposed within these passages are used to provide supplemental pressure within the mold cavity and prevent shrinkage. After the material within the mold has solidified, the mold is opened and the ejector pins are used to eject the outer panel from the mold. • Patent number: 5657591
Abstract: The present invention provides a connection structure which can freely adjust a connection strength between each stile and rail without increasing the kinds of stiles and rails arranging a door. A door 1A is arranged by engaging connection convex parts 21A and 31A of an upper rail 20 and a lower rail 30 in a connection concave part of a stile 10. In this case, the strength of the connection part of the stile and rail is set by adjusting an engagement dimension of the connection convex parts 21A and 31A in the connection concave part 12A. When the doors of different connection strength are arranged, only adjusting the engagement dimensions is required without the need to manufacture and assemble stiles and rails of different shapes and so on for each strength; therefore the manufacturing cost is reduced with the kinds of stiles and rails required being reduced and each kind of door with different connection strength can be easily arranged.

Abstract: An external door body is formed of first and second guide grooves for gripping left hand and right hand edges of a front panel, and an arcuate receiving groove for gripping an upper edge of the front panel. The front panel is inserted into these grooves, and a stopper acting as a closing device is finally attached to a bottom portion of the external door body to prevent the front panel from falling off. At the installation, the front panel need not be forcibly folded, so that the work can be made easily while eliminating the damage of the front panel.

Abstract: A door (10) includes a front panel (18) and a back panel (24). The front panel and back panel are secured together by connecting members (42 and 44) which are connected by weld (82). Panels (18 and 24) include sides (32 and 38) that are dimensioned to maintain cover strip (90) therebetween. Cover strip (90) conceals the welds (82) that result in a smooth finish for the side of door (10). Panels (18 and 24) are also joined by connecting members (92, 104, 120 and 122) and welds (116 and 144). A channel member (118) is maintained between connecting members (92 and 104) to conceal weld (116). Support members (154 and 160) are also provided to panels (18 and 24).

Abstract: In a glass lid (1) for a vehicle roof opening, the glass pane (2) is provided in its edge zone all around with a cast-on or foamed-on plastics border (3). At least at the longer sides of the glass pane (2), curved correspondingly to the roof curvature, stiffening profiles (4, 5) of steel, supporting the glass pane from below, are embedded into the border (3). The stiffening profiles (4, 5) have, before embedding, a curvature different from that of the glass pane and, in the completed lid (1), are elastically bent corresponding to the curvature of the glass pane so that they are embedded with prestress in the border (3), in order to counteract uplift forces acting upon the lid (1) while the vehicle is travelling, in the sense of maintaining the shape of the lid (1).

Abstract: A refrigerator door includes an outer metal shell having an outer rectangular panel connected to four inwardly turned side panels connected to an inwardly facing peripheral flange. An inner liner has a peripheral flange in registry with the outer door shell flange, a central wall and a pair of vertical, inwardly projecting sidewalls connecting the central wall to the liner flange. Each sidewall includes a scallop in the form of an inwardly opening notch at a select aligned longitudinal position of the inner liner. The central wall includes a transverse inwardly opening recess groove extending between the sidewalls at the select longitudinal position to provide an expansion joint to prevent bowing when an insulation cures in the space between the liner and the shell and when the refrigerator is in operation, thus cooling the door. Moreover, C-shaped beams in the door aid in providing strength to further prevent bowing.
