Abstract: A foldable mattress support has an adjustable inner frame with a ratchet support for raising the head of a mattress. Legs are incorporated into the side and end bars of the mattress support. Upper and lower bars of the support are pivotally attached to the vertical plate of a hinge. Bolts oriented along axes of rotation pass through the bars and through the vertical plate. A first upper bar pivots about a first axis; a second upper bar pivots about a second axis; a first lower bar pivots about a third axis; and a second lower bar pivots about a fourth axis. Each of the axes is orthogonal to the vertical plate, and the third axis is spaced farther apart from the fourth axis than the first axis is spaced apart from the second axis. The distal ends of the upper and lower bars are pivotally attached to end bars.

Abstract: A foldable mattress support with legs includes a metal frame with a fabric covering. The metal frame includes first upper and lower frames and second upper and lower frames. Each of the upper and lower frames is pivotally attached to a vertical plate of a hinge. A bolt that is oriented along a first axis passes through the first upper frame and through the vertical plate. A leg attaches through the fabric covering to a base plate of the hinge. The first upper frame pivots about a first axis; the second upper frame pivots about a second axis; the first lower frame pivots about a third axis; and the second lower frame pivots about a fourth axis. Each of the axes is orthogonal to the vertical plate, and the third axis is spaced farther apart from the fourth axis than the first axis is spaced apart from the second axis.
Abstract: A foldable mattress support is made by covering a metal frame with a fabric covering. The metal frame includes two sections that fold together at two hinges. A first section includes first upper and lower frames, and a second section includes second upper and lower frames. Each of the upper and lower frames is pivotally attached to a hinge. A bolt that is oriented along a first axis passes through the first upper frame and through a plate of the hinge. The first upper frame pivots about a first axis; the second upper frame pivots about a second axis; the first lower frame pivots about a third axis; and the second lower frame pivots about a fourth axis. Each of the axes is orthogonal to the plate, and the third axis is spaced farther apart from the fourth axis than the first axis is spaced apart from the second axis.
Abstract: A composite textile includes a batting layer, a cushion layer, and a face fabric. The batting layer has high melt temperature and low melt temperature fibers. The cushion layer is needled to the batting layer. The face fabric is bonded to the cushion layer by an adhesive. The face material/cushion layer/batting layer is heat set and rolled onto a roll for use in forming composite parts. The composite textile is more readily recyclable when the batting layer, the cushion layer, the adhesive, and the face material are all formed completely from material of the same chemical nature, such as polyolefin, polyester, or the like.
Abstract: A one piece rotationally molded cot for toddlers and other individuals includes a recessed sleeping surface supported above a raised bottom wall by a plurality of upwardly extending pillars. A closed dead air space between the bottom wall and sleeping surface and an additional air space beneath the bottom wall and above the room floor provide insulation for warmth. The cots nest in stacked relation for storage in minimum space. Dollies configured for conforming engagement beneath head and foot ends of the cots include swivel casters to facilitate transportation. Accessory items for use with the cot include a foam pad receivable in a fabric pad cover, a mattress, and a sheet. Cooperating VELCRO (.TM.) fasteners secure the cover to the cot and the sheet to the mattress.
Abstract: A bed mattress is constructed so that its opposite sides have marginal inclined surfaces which converge to form a relatively shallow truncated rectangular wedge portion on each side of the mattress for self-centering nested engagement in a similarly tapered cavity of a foundation for the mattress. The mattress may be of the innerspring type or may consist of a foam rubber slab. The mattress foundation can be framed and padded or may be formed from rigid foam plastics material.
Abstract: A bed having a horizontal supporting body and vertical side frames and a rectangular mattress resting on the body and fitting between the frames, the mattress being formed by a multiplicity of individually removable juxtaposed pillows, each pillow in plan view forming a meaningful symbol such as an animal and the pillows having covers representatively colored and decorated to represent the symbols, the upper surface of the supporting body having markings outlining the designed arrangement of the pillows, and a matching spread used over the mattress.
Abstract: A mattress foundation having a rigid frame covered at least in part by a continuous stationary horizontal top surface. A layer of resilient material overlies the stationary top surface. An open grid freely rests on this layer and is resiliently supported by it. A powered vibrator unit is fixed to the grid and is physically clear of contact with the frame. The grid is resiliently covered. It is capable of imparting vibratory movement about the top surface of the completed foundation assembly. In one form, a section of the grid is resiliently supported on the frame by interposed upright springs.
Abstract: Construction for a water bed including a bladder filled with water or other fluid, a foam rubber framing element which is provided with a bladder receiving recess which provides a peripheral frame for the bladder and an upper surface within the frame upon which the bladder will rest. The foam rubber framing unit and the water bladder is supported and carried by a mattress and box spring of normal construction or may be supported and carried by the box spring singularly.
Abstract: A water bed structure comprising a flat horizontal mattress including a bladder having vertically spaced horizontal top and bottom walls and vertical side walls of flexible water impervious sheeting and a volume of water within and filling the bladder, a flat horizontal pad of resilient reticulate material within the mattress and the water therein and positioned on the bottom wall and having a top surface normally spaced below the top wall, a retainer unit comprising a flat horizontal panel below and in supporting engagement with said bottom wall and a tubular frame about the panel with a portion projecting upwardly therefrom and cooperating therewith to define a basin in which the mattress is positioned; said frame has a vertical inside wall opposing and supporting the side walls of the mattress, said inside wall having openings communicating with the basin and the interior of the frame whereby water leaked or spilled from the mattress into the basin flows from the basin into the frame.
