  • Publication number: 20120159711
Abstract: Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine with an integrated medical table top on which a patient can lie is provided. The table top has a central polypropylene cellular honeycomb structure thermally fused in a sandwich configuration between two fibre-reinforced polypropylene face sheets. A strip of fibre-reinforced polypropylene is thermally fused along the entire length of the edge of the sandwich layers and along the end sections of the strip so that the resultant package of layers and end strip is sealingly enclosed to form the tabletop. Table top has a cover which may have a paint or acrylic finish, or may be foamed or “soft-touch” or suitably coated, in order to enhance the patient's comfort and to ensure that tabletop is hard-wearing and readily cleanable.

  • Publication number: 20120159713
Abstract: A patient alignment device includes a table and a rotatable member positioned to rotate relative to the table. The rotatable member may be a head-support plate or a board which supports substantially all of a patient's body. A motor moves the board or plate so as to align the patient's body, or a part of the body, in a desired direction. The board may be formed in two segments, the segments being selectively connectable to each other, the segments also being selectively connectable to the table by pins, at various possible pivot points. Positioning of the pins determines the mode of rotation of the board. The invention allows an operator to align the patient's body with precision, by remote control, and without interrupting the medical procedure.

  • Patent number: 8191190
Abstract: When inserting a patient into a bore of a patient imaging device (e.g., CT, SPECT, PET, MRI, fMRI, etc.), a cantilevered pallet supported by an adjustable table deflects under the patient's weight. A pair of springs couples the table to first and second support arms, which are coupled to each other at a pivot point. A lever is coupled to the front end of the table and pivots on a fulcrum. A pair of wires are coupled to a rearward end of the lever and passed over respective pulleys before being coupled to a rearward portion of the table. A component of the patient's weight applied to the front edge of the table causes the lever to pivot on its fulcrum, raising the forward ends of the wires, which pass over the pulleys and pull the rearward end of the table downward to maintain the patient at a desired altitude and/or angle.

  • Patent number: 8112836
Abstract: A positioning mechanism of a bed comprising height adjustable lifters that are mounted between the undercarriage and patient surface frame. The first lifter is arranged so that its axis intersects the longitudinal axis of the frame. The first lifter is connected to frame oscillatingly around the longitudinal axis of the frame and in a sliding way in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the frame. The second and the third lifters are interconnected with an arm, oriented transversally to the longitudinal axis. The arm is oscillatingly connected to the frame and is connected at one end to the second lifter both oscillatingly around an axis, in parallel with the longitudinal axis of the frame and in a sliding way transversally to the frame. The other end the arm is connected to the third lifter, oscillatingly around the axis, in parallel with the longitudinal axis of the frame.
