  • Patent number: 8112968
Abstract: An internal shear panel for reducing the tendency of the upper portions of buildings to move relative to the foundation when lateral forces, such as those produced by winds and earthquakes, are applied to the walls. The shear panel is pre-assembled having two vertical posts and two diaphragm members interconnecting the two vertical posts. The panel also has an upper and a lower horizontal member that are connected to the vertical posts and the diaphragm members. The lower horizontal member and the vertical posts are configured to be attached via brackets to holdown bolts mounted in the foundation of a building and the upper horizontal member is configured to be attached to an upper plate or rail of the wall. Hence, the shear panel can be installed by connecting the upper horizontal member to the upper portion of the wall and connecting the lower horizontal member to the holdown bolts in the foundation.

  • Patent number: 7299554
Abstract: A jig for face frame hinges may include a base and gripping members, wherein the jig may be secured to a frame member or a wall adapted to receive a hinge base plate and the hinge base plate may be abutted with a first hinge abutting edge of the jig. The gripping members may hold the jig in a selected position so that the hinge base may be abutted with the jig while fasteners are engaged through the base and into the frame member, or while holes are pre-drilled and fasteners engaged to mount the hinge base. The proper position may typically be with a second frame member abutting edge of the jig abutted with an adjacent adjoining frame member. Thus, the jig edges form stops for consistently and positively locating hinge bases of a face frame hinge at a predetermined distance from adjacent frame members.

  • Patent number: 6748711
Abstract: A door for a housing containing electrical components, in particular a switchgear cabinet, having a door frame, which has two vertical profiled frame sections spaced parallel apart from each other and connected at their longitudinal ends by horizontal transverse stays. Vertical and/or horizontal profiled cover elements are applied on an outside of the door to the vertical profiled frame sections and/or the transverse stays. The vertical profiled frame sections have receivers into which at least one cover panel can be inserted, which at least partially covers a door panel area surrounded by the door frame. To be able to equip the door panel area modularly, the receivers of the vertical profiled frame sections are formed as grooves in which edges of the sheathing panels are held. On their longitudinal sides the transverse stays have shoulders, each of which supports at least one plug-in shoulder. The plug-in shoulders are fixed in plug-in receivers of the vertical profiled frame sections.
