Having Mechanical Fastener (e.g., Nail, Bolt, Screw, Etc.) For Securing Channel Patents (Class 52/800.16)
  • Patent number: 8181405
Abstract: A system for mounting a partition, the system including a shoe with a slot for receiving an edge of the partition and an isolator that fits within the slot between the partition and a portion of the slot. A clamp assembly fits within the slot opposite the first isolator. The clamp assembly includes upper and lower blocks and a center block. The clamp assembly and the isolator are configured to permit the angling of the partition within the slot to place the partition in a desired position. Surfaces of the blocks are angled with respect to each other so that drawing the upper and lower blocks toward each other will urge the center block in one direction so that the partition is held within the slot.

A clamp assembly fits within the slot opposite the first isolator. The clamp assembly includes upper and lower blocks and, optionally, a center block. Surfaces of the blocks are angled with respect to each other so that drawing the upper and lower blocks toward each other will urge one of the blocks in one direction and the other block or blocks in the opposite direction. The blocks include engagement surfaces which engage a side wall of the slot and a side of the partition to selectively and releasably hold the partition within the slot.

  • Patent number: 7380378
Abstract: An edge rail for a pane or panel of glass or like material to be used as a door or partition is made of mating male and female rail sections defining a channel for reception of and secure attachment to an edge portion of a pane or panel. The two rail sections have portions thereof cut away and defining a recess or chamber for reception of a door or partition supporting structure directly within the rail and not as an appendage thereto. The edge rail has substantially universal application as either a top rail or a bottom rail and for either a right hand mount or a left hand mount. The rail is relatively small, slim and compact and imparts an esthetically pleasing appearance to the panel assembly.

  • Patent number: 6862864
Abstract: Various improved methods are provided for fastening two of more steel framing members together with a fastener. In one aspect, the fastening technique employs a fastener having a tip section such that a portion of the tip section extending beyond the underside of the framing members may be outwardly flared, thereby inhibiting removal of the fastener from the framing members In another aspect, the fastening technique employs a fastener having a steel tip nose for piercing the framing members and a plastic stem section, such that a portion of the stem section extending beyond the underside of the framing members expands, thereby inhibiting removal of the fastener from the framing members. In yet another aspect, the fastening technique employs a fastener having a coil section with an elastic characteristic.

  • Publication number: 20030070368
Abstract: A solar collector array is formed of a plurality of solar panels mounted on a frame made of support beams which may be sheet metal channel members. A butyl tape or other glazing material is applied between the back laminate of the solar panel and the beam. Clips are used to clamp the panels to th support beams. The clips have an upper portion that is generally T-shaped in profile, and a retainer in the form of a channel nut or bar, with a threaded hole that receives a bolt or similar threaded fastener. The retainer biases against the inwardly directed flanges of the channel support beam. Electrical wires and mechanical fasteners are concealed within the support beams.

Abstract: A polygonal building element has an insulating means and a frame structure extending along the circumference of the insulating means and having a number of elongate sections that are essentially U-shaped in cross section. The insulating means is made of lightweight material (e.g. cellular plastic) and is self-supporting, and the U-sections are arranged in such manner on the peripheral edge portion of the insulating means that the flanges of each U-section grasp the edge portion of the insulating means.

  • Patent number: 6393790
Abstract: A construction block cap is used to cap the open end of a construction block in order to provide a generally air tight and water tight seal of the open end. The construction block cap has a body member with a top surface and a bottom surface and a raised portion extending upwardly from the top surface in spaced apart fashion with respect to the outer periphery of the body member. The body member is positioned so that the top surface rests on the edges of the open end and the outer surface of the raised portion abuts the interior surfaces of the faces and two of the side edges of the construction block. A channel can be located on the top surface on order to hold a desiccant tube. The bottom surface has a connection system to connect to a frame member, the connection system being either male or female in nature.
