  • Publication number: 20090326082
Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions and methods for producing articles from recycled materials. In one embodiment, a recycled polymeric matrix containing a super adsorbant polymer is thermally and/or chemically treated to produce a modified polymeric matrix. In a preferred embodiment, a modified polymeric matrix is subsequently melt processed with a filler. Articles produced from the modified polymeric matrix and the composites of this invention are useful as building materials, automotive components and consumer goods.

Moreover, moisture, when present in the dissolving system for treating an electrical equipment including an electroconductive material of aluminum, may react with aluminum to produce an aluminate compound which is transformed into aluminum oxide (alumina) under heating, which, in turn, may cause abnormal temperature rise to melt aluminum. This may be accompanied by formation of hydrogen which can cause danger of explosion. Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the recycling waste polyester resins and the reclaimed materials therefrom. The method for recycling waste polyester resins according to one embodiment the present invention comprises (a) depolymerizing waste polyester resin; (b) polycondensing the depolymerized product from step (a) with a polyhydric alcohol to provide a polyester polymer having an acid value of 10–150 mgKOH/g; and (c) recovering the polyester polymer in solid or liquid form if the polyester polymer from step (b) has an acid value of more than 20 mgKOH/g or recovering the polyester polymer in solid form if the polyester polymer from step (b) has an acid value of less than 20 mgkOH/g. The reclaimed polyester resin according to the present invention has the excellent compatibility, dispersibility, and adhesive property for various media, and can be used easily neutralized and dissolved in water. Accordingly, the polyester resin can be used as a useful material for industrial products.

  • Patent number: 7152742
Abstract: Comminuted carpet pieces are fed to a first stirred tank together with an aqueous solution containing separating salt, to form a first suspension, which is fed to a first mechanical separating stage. A first high-solids phase, a second high-solids phase containing polymer fiber material, and a liquid phase are obtained therefrom. The second high-solids phase is mixed with a water-containing separation solution in a stirred tank, to give a second suspension, which is fed to a second mechanical separating stage. A third high-solids phase, a polymer fiber material-rich phase and a liquid phase are withdrawn therefrom. An acid which is stronger than H2CO3 is introduced into the stirred tank together with the water-containing separation solution, and the pH of the liquid in the stirred tank is adjusted to 2–6.

  • Patent number: 7135503
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for reclaiming polyesters or polyester mixtures from polyester or waste containing polyester. The aim of the invention is to reclaim polyesters or polyester mixtures of good quality in a cost-effective manner. To achieve this aim, the polyester and/or waste containing polyester is heated in a bath of dicarboxylic acid dialkyl ester to temperatures in excess of 150° C. In this process, polyester is dissolved in the dicarboxylic acid dialkyl ester or a dicarboxylic acid dialkyl ester mixture and subsequently extracted from the solution by means of solid-liquid separation.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for recovering monomeric units of a nylon from carpet material. The carpet material includes fibres containing nylon bound to a backing containing one or more non-nylon components. The carpet material contains between 15 and 35 wt. % of the nylon. The process includes: a) mechanically separating the carpet material into an enriched carpet mixture containing between 35 and 55 wt. % of said nylon and into a depleted carpet mixture having a lower content of nylon than the carpet material; and b) exposing the enriched carpet mixture to conditions at which depolymerization of the nylon is effected.

  • Patent number: 7087671
Abstract: A front cover, a rear cover and a base portion are crushed into a crushed material, and further pelletized into a recycled plastic pellet. The recycled plastic pellet is used as a part of a molding material to produce mold plastic parts for a photosensitive material. When the molding material is melt in heat, a thermoplastic resin is deteriorated by heat or modified. Therefore, properties and qualities of recycled plastic mold parts are less than those of new ones. Further, when the thermoplastic resin is deteriorated by heat, the photosensitive material reacts with the thermoplastic resin to decomposed products having an bad influence on photographic characteristics. In order to prevent the deterioration by heat, oxidation inhibiting materials are added, and in order to absorb the decomposed products, carbon blacks are added.
