Abstract: Rigid polyvinyl chloride stabilized against the adverse effects of ultraviolet radiation by the addition thereto of effective amounts of 2,2,6,6-tetraalkylpiperidine compound and an organotin carboxylate thermal stabilizer, optionally with reduced amounts of titanium dioxide, organotin mercapto esters and/or organotin mercaptide thermal stabilizers.
Abstract: Aqueous silicone dispersions containing (a) polydiorganosiloxanes having hydroxyl groups in the terminal units, (b) (organo)metallic compound(s), (c) a siliconate, and optionally, (d) a silicone resin. These aqueous silicone dispersions will cure to form elastomeric coatings or sealants when the water is removed by evaporation.

Abstract: This invention is directed to an adhesive composition comprising:(a) a copolymer of ethylene or a mixture of ethylene and another ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable monomer with a hydroxyalkyl ester or an epoxyalkyl ester, and(b) an organometallic compound of lead, tin, or titanium.
Abstract: An anti-fouling marine paint comprises a pigment, a marine biocide which may or may not be identical to the pigment and a film-forming binder which is a hydrolysable polymer which contains units of the formula: ##STR1## and can be obtained by polymerisation of an alpha-aryl alkyl ester having the formula: ##STR2## where R is an alpha, beta-unsaturated organic group, each Ar independently is an aryl group and R' is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl or aryl group.

Abstract: Reduction in the adhesion to glass of thermoplastic, plasticized polyvinylbutyral molding compositions, in particular sheeting, by the addition of a metal salt and/or metal chelate of an enolizable .beta.-diketone, or mixtures of these compounds, as an non-stick agent, preferably in amounts of 0.003 to 0.3% by weight, relative to the plasticized polyvinylbutyral. It is preferable to employ the non-stick agent in the form of a solution in the plasticizer. The use of the sheeting having an adhesion to glass reduced in accordance with the invention as a laminating layer for the production of glass laminates.

Abstract: Amine-complexed zinc salts of organic diacids selected from the group consisting of (i) dicarboxylic acids, (ii) diphenols, and (iii) phthalic acids. Specifically disclosed compounds include C.sub.2 -C.sub.3 alkylene diamine-complexed zinc salts of thiodiphenol and sulfonyldiphenol, and ethylene diamine-complexed salts of phthalic, isophthalic and terephthalic acids. Such amine-complexed zinc salts have utility as corrosion inhibitors in coating compositions for metallic substrates, e.g., paints based on alkyds, latexes or linseed oil. Also disclosed are anticorrosion additives, comprising the aforementioned amine-complexed salts distended on mineral fillers such as kaolin, and a method of making same by reaction of zinc oxide, amine, and organic diacid, at elevated temperatures, in an aqueous slurry of the mineral filler. At least the dicarboxylic acid and diphenol derived salts also display utility as inhibitors of marine growth (algae and barnacles) on substrates.
Abstract: Certain substituted thioglycolates and thiopropionates were found useful as secondary stabilizers for polymers, particularly polyvinyl chloride, when used in conjunction with metal octanoates, such as zinc octanoate, as the primary stabilizer. The specific thioglycolates and thiopropionates are those formed by thio adducts to the double bond of a monomer, such as the product of reacting isooctyl thioglycolate with glycidyl acrylate, to provide isooctyl S-2(glycidyloxycarbonyl)ethyl thioglycolate, as an example.
Abstract: Ink compositions especially suitable for printing electronic circuit patterns on a substrate such as a flexible polyester substrate; methods for developing electrolessly and electrolytically the circuit configurations as articles of manufacture; flexographic printing with the ink composition has been disclosed as the preferred method.
