    Abstract: A relatively small amount of a plasticizer having an SP value of at least 8.8 and a molecular weight of at most 550 is added to blend rubber of NBR-PVC in which NBR has an AN content of from 43 to 50% by weight. The fuel impermeability and the low-temperature flexibility of the resulting rubber composition are improved to be comparable to those of FKM, and the amount of the plasticizer and its reaction product to be released from the rubber composition in fuel is reduced. Adding a controlled amount of carbon black to the rubber composition makes the composition have favorable electroconductivity. The rubber composition is formed into hoses or electroconductive hoses of low fuel permeation.

The rubber pellets are used in the formation of asphalt and are desirable because they provide necessary constituents to the asphalt and allow for elimination of equipment and separate ingredient addition steps from the asphalt formation process. The present invention is also desirable because it provides for a way to desirably dispose of waste rubber materials.

    Abstract: A novel quick setting polymer concrete composite comprising a furfuryl alcohol monomer, an aggregate containing a maximum of 8% by weight water, and about 1-10% trichlorotoluene initiator and about 20-80% powdered metal salt promoter, such as zinc chloride, based on the weight of said monomer, to initiate and promote polymerization of said monomer in the presence of said aggregate, within 1 hour after mixing at a temperature of -20.degree. C. to 40.degree. C., to produce a polymer concrete having a 1 hour compressive strength greater than 2000 psi.

    Abstract: Dispersion polymerization process for producing colored toner particles comprising admixing a colorant with a monomer to form an oil soluble organic phase, admixing a polymerization initiator with the organic phase, admixing the organic phase with an aqueous phase containing a suspending agent and an inorganic salt therein under polymerization conditions to form a suspension, polymerizing the suspension under continuous agitation to provide polymer particles containing the colorant and having a particle size in the range of from about 1 micron to about 100 microns, and recovering the polymer particles. The inorganic salt inhibits polymerization in the aqueous phase. Developer compositions and processes for developing electrostatic latent images are also disclosed.

    Abstract: This invention is concerned with an aqueous liquid composition comprising unsaturated monomers including (1) magnesium diacrylate and/or calcium diacrylate, (2) a polyol monoacrylate selected from hydroxyethyl acrylate and hydroxypropyl acrylate, and (3) a polyethylenically unsaturated monomer copolymerizable with (1) and (2) to produce covalent cross-linking bonds in the copolymer besides the ionizable magnesium bonds. The weight ratio of (3) to the sum of (1) and (2) is in the range of about 3:97 to about 5:95. Examples of monomers that can be used as part or all of component (3) include N,N'-methylene-bis-acrylamide and ethylene glycol diacrylate.
