Abstract: An anti-bacterial polymer of the present invention consists of a vapor deposition-polymerization reaction product of a diaminobenzoic acid monomer or halogen atom-containing diamine monomer and a monomer reactive with these monomers. The anti-bacterial polymer can be prepared by a method, which comprises the step of subjecting a gas obtained by evaporating a diaminobenzoic acid monomer or halogen atom-containing diamine monomer and a gas obtained by evaporating a monomer reactive with these monomers to vapor deposition-polymerization, in a vacuum, to thus form an anti-bacterial polymer. The method permits the formation of a film having a desired thickness even on the surface having a complicated shape such as the surface of, for instance, a heat exchanger.

The group of components includes a first group of one or more polyether polyols each having an average molecular weight in the range of 1000 to 10000 g/mol, a second group of one or more polyether polyols each having an average molecular weight in the range of 400 to 10000 g/mol and being hydrophilic and water-soluble, a third group of one or more polyols each having an average molecular weight equal to or less than 800 g/mol, at least one amine, and a reaction terminating agent. The ratio of the equivalent weights of the diisocyanate to the components having isocyanate reactive functional groups is selected such that essentially all of the isocyanate groups of the diisocyanate are present only as the reaction product with one of said isocyanate reactive functional groups.

  • Patent number: 6635690
Abstract: The present invention provides novel compositions prepared from a first oligomer containing reactive functional groups capable of reaction at effective rates (at normal processing temperatures) with a co-reactive second component possessing functionality that is complementary to that of the first oligomer. The compositions may be used as coatings, including hard surface coatings, clear coatings, powder coatings and pattern coatings; as adhesives, including pressure sensitive adhesives and hot melt adhesives; as sealants; as optical coatings; as blown microfibers (BMF); as high refractive index optical materials; as barrier films; in microreplication; as low adhesion backsizes, (LABs) and as release coatings.

  • Patent number: 6635737
Abstract: Low unsaturation, high molecular weight polyols having an unsaturation level below or equal to 0.006 milli-equivalents per gram, and preferably below 0.004 milli-equivalents per gram, and molecular weights of greater than or equal to about 2,000, and preferably between about 2,000 and 10,000, are converted into low unsaturation, high molecular-weight (LUSHMW) polyamines directly by amination reactions. The LUSHMW polyamines produce polymers having elongation, modulus, and tensile characteristics that are substantially better than those of conventional analogous polymers.
