Abstract: A parallel folded filter has good sealing properties between the folded filter web and the filter housing with the smallest possible amount of sealant. The filter is prepared with an elliptical filter blank, in which the rows (1) of fold lines (locations of predefined fold edges or imaginary fold edges) are at right angles to an axis (4) extending in the direction of the greatest longitudinal extension of the filter blank (2). The circumferential contour of the filter blank (2) is dimensioned such that it assumes a circular shape with the folds stood up (e.g., in a folded state). An adhesive bead (3) is applied along the circumferential contour. A ring-shaped filter housing accommodates the folded filter blank (2) such that a circumferential support surface is present for the adhesive bead (3).

Abstract: An improved air cleaner assembly for large displacement stationary engines provides for an included environmentally friendly disposable filter element containing substantially no chlorine compounds or structural metal supports which upon incineration or landfilling become undesireable chemical compounds. Improved sealing results by creating novel gasket compression control both radially and by a face seal by use of permanent metal components which are not discarded as before. Excessive compression of the gasket material is prevented by structure integral to the air cleaner assembly, and support of the filter element is external within the air cleaner assembly rather than internal within the filter element, thus eliminating the manufacturing cost of metal components previously discarded as integral to the filter element upon replacement of the disposable filter element.

The filter media is spaced from an upstream face of the frame a distance sufficient to prevent blinding of the filter media by an upstream filter media, thereby eliminating a filtration stage and reducing the volume of the filtration system. In another embodiment, flexible strips of edge banding, preferably of a filter material, are affixed to adjacent upper and lower longitudinal edges of the sections of the filter media. Abstract: A filter element of an air filter includes a main body and a substrate. The far infrared emission powder substances are embedded at certain grain sized and at certain ratio to the substrate, thereby forming the main body that is adapted in form to various internal combustion engines. The resonance effect will be created by means of the far infrared emission substances in the filter element of the air filter, thereby making tiny the molecular cluster of water in the moisture-containing air entering into the internal combustion engine for combustion, increasing the molecular freedom, enlarging the contact surface of the oil gas with the air. Therefore, it's easier that the oxygen-containing particles and the oil gas are evenly mixed for reaching an optimal mixture ratio of the original design standard.

Abstract: A filter with a planar filter insert which includes a device for the deflection of the fluid entering for filtration. Filters of this kind are particularly useful as air filters for the intake air of an internal combustion engine. The device for deflection onto the filter insert 12 is preferably realized by the cross-sectional profile of the inlet chamber 21a. As the hatched plane 26 in FIG. 2 shows, the profile has a curved portion a which leads to a deflection of the flow from an inlet 23 toward the filter insert. In comparison with wedge-shaped inlet chambers, a low pressure region on the filter element near the inlet, which would lead to an unequal distribution of filtrate on the filter element, can be prevented. In this way an optimum useful life of the filter element can be achieved, which is beneficial to the economics of the filtering operation.

  • Patent number: 6306192
Abstract: A housing, in particular a pot-shaped filter housing. To connect housing pot 10 and cover 11, a joint consisting of closure elements such as locking clamps or bow clamps 16 is proposed which can be attached at the periphery of the housing via receivers 18. As there are more receivers 18 provided on the housing than locking clamps 16 which are required for absorbing retention forces, it is possible to vary the exact fitting position of the locking clamps according to the respective space available for receiving and mounting the housing. This is essential, because the rotating radius 27 of the tension levers 17 of the locking clamps has to be considered when mounting the locking clamps 16. It is thus possible to provide housings for any field of use with variable receivers for the closure elements.

  • Patent number: 6299660
Abstract: A filter element that is able to be sealingly secured in position in a filter housing, comprising an accordion fold pack. The oncoming-flow side of accordion fold pack is covered by a latticed protective mask. The protective mask is sealingly joined to all fold backs of accordion fold pack on the clean-air side. In this manner, the fold edges are protected from damage during the periodic cleaning in the face of the back-blasted air used for that purpose.

  • Patent number: 6293984
Abstract: An air filter is substantially made up of a filter element having a pleated filtering portion and a collar portion that extends on an outer periphery of the filtering portion and that has a sealing function, the filtering portion and the collar portion being integrally formed from the same material, and a cap and a case each of which has a flange for clamping the collar portion of the filter element. One of the flange of the cap and the flange of the case has a protruded portion that has an inclined portion. The collar portion of the filter element has a recess portion that contacts the inclined portion of the protruded portion and is guided by the inclined portion and fits to the protruded portion at a predetermined position so as to become set in position.

  • Patent number: 6293981
Abstract: The invention is directed to an arrangement of an air filter (1) and a membrane carburetor (2). The membrane carburetor (2) has an intake channel section (3) configured in the carburetor housing (4) and fuel-conducting channels (6) open into the intake channel section (3). The channels (6) are supplied from a fuel-filled control chamber (7) which is configured in the carburetor housing (4). The control chamber (7) is partitioned from a compensation chamber (11) via a control membrane (10). The compensation chamber (11) communicates with the housing (14, 16) of the air filter (1) via a compensation channel (13) downstream of an air filter element (39). The air filter housing (14) engages over the membrane carburetor (2) essentially on the side of the compensation chamber (11) and the clean chamber (24) of the air filter housing (14) communicates with the intake channel section via a connecting stub (37) which lies approximately at right angles to the intake channel section (3).

Abstract: Channel flow filtration media possessing high efficiency and low pressure drop is formed from a plurality of filtration layers at least some of which include a multi-dimensional channel pattern having a plurality of continuous, tortuous channels and a multi-dimensional edge at each end of the plurality of channels formed therein. The filtration medium is configured as a stack with the multi-dimensional edge of the channel pattern forming a plurality of inlets open through a first face of the stack, a plurality of outlets open through a second face of the stack, and a corresponding plurality of disruptive fluid pathways passing from the inlets through the stack to the outlets. The filtration layers may be formed from a non-woven material, such as a carbon loaded multi-layer BMF web capable of adsorption of undesired vapors and odors from a fluid.
