Abstract: Pharmaceutically active compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein --OR.sub.1, --OR.sub.2, --OR.sub.3 and --OR.sub.4, which may be the same or different, each represents a free or esterified hydroxyl group and --COOR.sub.5 represents a free or esterified carboxyl group, are provided together with processes for their production and pharmaceutical compositions containing them. Compounds of formula II and III possess valuable cicatrizing and anti-inflammatory properties.
Abstract: The present invention relates in part to novel amido, cycloamido, carbonylamido and sulfonylamido derivatives and p-substituted phenyl esters of 9-deoxy-9-methylene-PGF-type compounds. These novel amides produce surprisingly prolonged oral activity as pharmacological agents, as compared to the previously known 9-deoxy-9-methylene-PGF-type compounds.Further, the novel p-substituted phenyl esters provide more stable pharmaceutical formulations as compared to known 9-deoxy-9-methylene-PGF-type esters.Additionally, a novel series of 16-phenyl-9-deoxy-9-methylene-PGF-type compounds in free acid, ester, C-1 alcohol, and C-1 amine form is provided. Such compounds exhibit characteristic prostaglandin-type pharmacological actions.
Abstract: New bromine compounds are provided. They correspond to the formulaH -- X' -- COO -- (X--OOC).sub.t-1 -- X" -- Hin which t is 1 or 2 and X, X' and X" are brominated alkylene. The new compounds are useful as flameproofing agents for synthetic fibers.
Abstract: A method for producing a 3,3-dimethyl-4-(2,2-dihalogenovinyl)-4-hydroxybutyric-1,4-lactone of the formula, ##STR1## wherein X is a halogen atom, which comprises reacting a 1,1,1-trihalogeno-4-methyl-3-pentene-2-ol of the formula, ##STR2## wherein X is a halogen atom, or a 1,1,1-trihalogeno-4-methyl-4-pentene-2-ol of the formula, ##STR3## wherein X is a halogen atom, or the mixture of the both compounds with vinylidene chloride of the formula, ##STR4## IN SULFURIC ACID.
Abstract: Immobilized enzymes, intermediates therefor, and a process for the preparation of such substances are described. The method comprises reacting an enzyme with a polymerizable, ethylenically, unsaturated monomer containing a reactive group, and then polymerizing or copolymerizing the covalently-bonded enzyme-monomer product thus produced in the presence of a cross-linking agent and an initiator. The process affords immobilized enzymes of high stability and activity.
