Publication number: 20010021794Abstract: The present invention scanes a plurality of MRI images while varying conditions for a sample usable in color-determination and MRI imaging, subjects the image data to a first independent component analysis to decompose the data into L independent component images, selects N points on the sample to create a training sample that is a set of L (typically three) independent-component image luminances and color components. This generates as many transfer functions as the color components which output one color component for an arbitrary combination of the L independent-component image luminances. For a colored MRI generating object a plurality of MRI images are scanned while varying conditions, and a second independent component analysis on the MRI images accomplishes generating L independent component images. A calibration process scaling luminance is executed and the transfer functions are applied to the calibrated independent component images to obtain a multichannel MRI color image.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 28, 2000Publication date: September 13, 2001Inventors: Shigeru Muraki, Toshiharu Nakai

The method employs the use of an apparatus which is capable of producing a magnetic field of a particular nature which has been proven in human tests to dramatically reduce pain. An embodiment of the apparatus includes a frame, a plurality of magnets capable of producing a magnetic field wherein each of the plurality of magnets has a north pole and a south pole and a longitudinal axis passing therethrough and are partially held in place by the frame. Another embodiment incorporates a coil of electrically conducting material is wrapped about a frame, and/or the plurality of magnets in an orthogonal relationship to the longitudinal axis of each of the plurality of magnets. A source of electrical energy supplies an electrical current to the coil enabling a magnetic field to be produced therefrom.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 1999Date of Patent: November 21, 2000Assignee: EMF Therapeutics, Inc.Inventors: Floyd E. Patent number: 6146324Abstract: A therapeutic magnetic and analgesic pad or bandage formed of opposed strips interconnected to define a space or pocket therebetween for receiving a plurality of permanent magnets for generating a magnetic field to effect healing and/or reducing pain of an injured body part. The strip of the bandage or pad adapted to be placed in contact with the injured body part is formed of a synthetic water insoluble resin material which is impregnated with an analgesic ingredient in a manner whereby the analgesic ingredient is gradually released in a dry volatile state and imparted to the injured body part to synergistically further minimize pain and enhance healing.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1999Date of Patent: November 14, 2000Inventor: Peter H. Patent number: 6142927Abstract: This invention is a method and apparatus for applying low energy, non-ionizing, nonthermal, electromagnetic radiation or electric current to the body of a subject for therapeutic and health promoting purposes. Digital sequences, referred to as product capsules, representing natural or manufactured substances are stored in a computer. The computer is interfaced with the apparatus of the present invention which generates electromagnetic signals or electric currents, referred to as product signals, corresponding to the product capsules, which have been found to stimulate a response in the human body of a subject which is equal or approximately equal to the response stimulated by the corresponding substances. The product signals resonate with the body of the subject at the cellular level. The apparatus provides for the application of the resonant product signals to the subject through an antenna, an infrared transmitter, audio speakers or direct contact to the skin.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 1998Date of Patent: November 7, 2000Inventor: James Hoyt Clark

Patent number: 6132360Abstract: A severed or otherwise interrupted spinal cord or peripheral nerve is provided with magnetic nanoparticles which are absorbed or actively incorporated into the neurons and their axons. The severed or otherwise interrupted nerve or cord is then exposed to an external magnetic field which is moved longitudinally of the severed or otherwise interrupted nerve or spinal cord, thereby stretching the magnetic particle-loaded neurons and their axons along the desired axis for bridging the gap or gaps and repairing the injured spinal cord or nerve. The procedure may be repeated to extend the area of repair. The severed or otherwise interrupted spinal cord or peripheral nerve is advantageously provided, either internally or alongside, with an insert comprising multiple strands of biodegradable material having magnetic particles oriented along the axis thereof, for focusing and concentrating the external magnetic field in the desired axis.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 1998Date of Patent: October 17, 2000Inventor: Alan A. Patent number: 6132357Abstract: A substantially ungrounded crystal that has at least one external line angle emits a low level energy field about itself when an electromagnetic radiation is incident to its surface. An unenergized object may be placed in the field and energized such that the object may be used to stimulate biological processes when placed in proximity to the tissues to be stimulated.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 1999Date of Patent: October 17, 2000Inventor: Thomas J. Patent number: 6129659Abstract: A cold therapy pad includes a flexible envelope containing a high thermal capacity gel which will remain cold for a period of time after being frozen and a flexible permanent magnet contained within the envelope. According to a presently preferred embodiment, the envelope is made of a flexible polymer such as vinyl, the thermal gel is made of silicate, and the permanent magnet is made of molten metal hardened in an electric field. The magnet may be embedded in the gel so that it is substantially centrally located relative to the envelope. If desired, the magnet may be located between the envelope and the gel. The basic construction of the invention lends itself to many geometric configurations and sizes. In different embodiments, the therapy pad is dimensioned to overlie particular body parts such as joints, limbs, the neck, the waist, the chest, and the eyes. In some embodiments VELCRO.RTM. strips are provided to affix the therapy pad to a body part.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 1999Date of Patent: October 10, 2000Inventor: Bruce R. Wilk

Patent number: 6123657Abstract: When a motor 2 rotates, a permanent magnet 4a held by a magnet holding member 3a is rotated. When a case 1 is caused to approach the living body 6 under this state, a varying magnetic field is generated in the living body 6 and eddy currents are generated, thereby treating the patient.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 1997Date of Patent: September 26, 2000Assignee: Nihon Kohden CorporationInventors: Norio Ishikawa, Hidehiro Hosaka, Hiroichi Nakamura, Keiichiro Kon

Patent number: 6113530Abstract: A magnetic acupuncture equipment which is adapted for substitute the conventional acupuncture needles comprises a magnetic acupuncture pen. The magnetic acupuncture pen includes a tubular housing made of magnetic conducting material, an insulation member disposed inside the housing, a first and a second permanent magnet respectively disposed at two ends of the insulation member inside the housing, a first acupuncture member secured to a first end of the housing, and a second acupuncture member secured to a second end of the housing. The inner ends of the first and second permanent magnets, which are adjacent to the two ends of the insulation member respectively, have the same magnetic pole. In other words, the outer ends of the first and second permanent magnets, which are respectively located near the first and second acupuncture members, also have the same magnetic pole.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 1998Date of Patent: September 5, 2000Inventor: Nai-Hsin Chien

Patent number: 6092531Abstract: An external power head is energized by a motor causing movement of an element that produces a varying magnetic field, thereby inducing power in an implanted receiver coil within a patient's body. The external power head includes either one or more moving permanent magnets, or one or more moving elements that vary the magnetic flux coupled to the implanted receiver coil. As a result of the varying magnetic field experienced by the implanted receiver coil, an electric current flows from the implanted receiver coil to energize an implanted medical device.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 1999Date of Patent: July 25, 2000Assignee: Light Sciences Limited PartnershipInventors: James C.
