The reciprocating shaft has a stroke axis and a stroke length, and the distal end of the rod is configured to rotatably attach to the proximal side of the body follower by means of a rotating joint defining a center of rotation. The distal side of the body follower may include a body contact area having a maximum length at least three times greater than a minimum distance from the center of rotation of the rotating joint to the body contact area.

Abstract: A tongue cleaning device includes a tool head defining a trough that delivers the vacuum flow from an inlet to the inner surface disposed above a working edge for efficient removal of debris. The trough has a defined rear wall giving it a defined width. This allows the vacuum flow to be directed to where it is needed to remove debris. One configuration of the device has a head that defines a liquid distribution channel with an outlet disposed in front of the working edge with a supply of liquid being removably in fluid communication with the liquid distribution channel. The liquid supply being a bulk supply or a hand held bottle with a supply tube extending down the handle of the device. Another configuration of the device includes vacuum control openings controlled by the user's finger.

The guide slot is designed to restrict lateral movement of the massage device when the guide slot is engaged with a supporting member. The supporting member may be the edge of an open door, a corner, a vertical pole, or other generally available structure. The device includes a strap handle which may be draped over the user's shoulder and used to control the vertical position of the device. The described vibrating massage device allows a single user to create and maintain a significant amount of massage pressure without fatiguing his arms or relying on a second person. In a preferred embodiment, the controls for the vibrating massage device are incorporated into the strap handle so that the speed, intensity, and/or temperature may be controlled by the user without repositioning the device.

A chamber may define a treatment space having an interior engineered surface including a plurality of structures configured to provide pathways for the distribution of negative pressure and to exert mechanical stress on a wound. In some specific embodiments, the devices and methods may treat wounds on the head, neck, and face. One or more tubes may be in fluid communication with the treatment space to facilitate the application of negative pressure, the introduction of therapeutic agents, and the removal of wound material.

Abstract: An apparatus and method of improving the efficiency of lymphatic and venous circulation of the lower body using a seat cushion composed of breathable open celled polyurethane fabric with strips of dense foam to provide compression with constant shear force to interstitial tissue. The strips of dense foam apply a shear force onto the interstitial tissue, which positively affects the thixotropic properties of the interstitial fluid in the congested fibrotic tissue and thereby decreases the viscosity of the interstitial fluid over time. The strips of the dense foam are designed in such a pattern that channels interstitial fluid away from the dorsolateral and dorsomedial lymphatic territory of the thigh to the lymphatic capillary network on the lateral border of the thigh and lower lymph quadrant of the trunk.

The physical therapy tools may be operated at different operating modes (e.g., continuously varying pressure modes, step-pulse high frequency modes, step-pulse low frequency modes) for treating a subject's spine, and may be part of a system or kit. Methods of treating a subject using these physical therapy tools are also described herein.
