Means Varying Or Regulating Suction Patents (Class 604/119)
  • Patent number: 4418944
Abstract: A fluid coupling has a male member having a generally rigid base and an attached, relatively resilient face with a first fluid flow path opening from the resilient face. A female member of the coupling has a generally cylindrical receptacle with an opening for admitting the male member and a second fluid flow path for communication with the first fluid flow path in the male member when the male member is inserted into and rotated in the receptacle. The male and female members have cooperating cam surfaces opposite the opening into the fluid flow path in the member for urging the members together with a force directed at the opening. The force compresses the resilient face of the male member against the receptacle to seal the fluid flow paths about the openings. The preferred embodiment is a T coupling in which the male member has a third fluid flow path extending through it and in communication with the first fluid flow path.

  • Patent number: 4393879
Abstract: Apparatus for collecting animal or human tissue includes a curette having a passageway therein terminating at the front end of the curette in a tissue-receiving opening formed in a tissue-scraping spoon. The rear end of said curette extends from a housing forming a handle or gripping surface for manipulating the apparatus. The curette passageway communicates with the interior of said housing and to be connected to a source of vacuum for sucking tissue through the tissue-receiving inlet opening of the curette and into the housing. A substantially flat tissue collecting screen is placed at an angle obliquely across the inside of the housing in the path of tissue flow through the housing to form a large tissue collecting area. The screen has a multiplicity of tissue-screening apertures communicating between the curette passageway on one side of the screen and the outlet opening on the other side of the screen.

  • Patent number: 4384580
Abstract: A suction canister system for serial collection of fluids comprises a plurality of canisters. Vacuum is provided to the interior of the canisters each of which includes a valve for terminating the vacuum in the canister responsive to the level of fluid therein. The fluid is allowed to travel to a serially arranged canister when the valve on one canister is closed.A fluid flow adapter suitable for use in a fluid collection container includes a first open tube with second and third open tubes attached thereto. The second and third tubes are in direct fluid communication with the first tube but they are not in direct fluid communication with each other. This arrangement allows the second and third tubes to serve as fluid inlet and fluid outlet openings for the collection container.
