Patent number: 11504519Abstract: The present teachings may generally include a sealing device disposed within a connector (e.g., a patient connector) at an end of catheter tubing, where the sealing device is structurally configured to form a releasable seal for the catheter tubing. That is, when unengaged with a contact portion of another connector or device, the sealing device may be disposed in a first position establishing the seal. Specifically, a channel disposed through a body of the sealing device may be obstructed when in the first position. However, through predetermined engagement with the contact portion of another connector or device, the sealing device may be moved (e.g., rotated) to a second position to establish a fluid pathway through the channel. And, when the predetermined engagement is removed, the sealing device may be structurally configured to automatically move back into the first position to reestablish the seal for the catheter tubing.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 2020Date of Patent: November 22, 2022Assignee: Fresenius Medical Care Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Orestes Soto Ramirez, Irving Uziel Hernandez Gomez

Patent number: 8622978Abstract: Tools for determining and adjusting the setting of an adjustable valve are disclosed. These tools allow a medical professional to locate and non-invasively determine the setting of an implanted valve. After the valve has been located and the setting of the valve determined, the valve may be re-adjusted non-invasively. There are three tools: a locator tool, an indicator tool and an adjustment tool. The locator tool allows the physician to locate the adjustable valve of interest and align the locator tool with a specific orientation of the valve. The indicator tool indicates the current setting of the adjustable valve and confirms new settings of the valve after the new settings have been implemented. The adjustment tool interacts magnetically with the implanted adjustable valve to couple with a movable internal element to change the setting of the valve. The indicator tool and the adjustment tool physically cooperate with the locator tool to accomplish the respective functions of the tools.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2000Date of Patent: January 7, 2014Assignee: Medtronic, Inc.Inventors: William J. Patent number: 8584701Abstract: A stopcock is provided with multiple ports joining multiple fluid conduits leading between fluid sources and fluid destinations. A central hub manifold resides within a valve body supporting the ports, and can rotate relative to the valve body. Fluid flow paths within the central hub are selectively aligned or not aligned with the ports. The stopcock indicates which ports are open by providing marks corresponding with positions of the ports. When the marks are visible, the corresponding ports are open. With different positioning of ports and different configurations of fluid flow paths within the central hub, stopcocks having different numbers of operable positions are provided including two, three, four, six and eight way stopcocks. By providing an axial flow path through a central axis of the central hub intersecting the embedded fluid flow paths within the central hub, still further numbers of operational states are provided.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2010Date of Patent: November 19, 2013Inventor: David R. Patent number: 8568368Abstract: A contrast media delivery system having a flow regulator assembly that allows a practitioner to regulate the passage of contrast media into a burette while minimizing turbulence and the formation of microbubbles in the contrast media. The flow regulator assembly can be actuated by twisting a rotatable cap. When the rotatable cap is released, the flow of contrast media from the inlet to the burette is stopped. A diffuser having a contact surface is provided which disperses contrast media as it passes into the burette to ensure that the contrast media flows smoothly and uniformly down the wall of the burette and into the volume of contrast media. A float and seating assembly which provides optimal sealing of the outlet of the burette while also allowing separation of the float from the seat when the burette is being refilled with contrast media.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 2008Date of Patent: October 29, 2013Assignee: Merit Medical Systems, Inc.Inventors: Fred P. Patent number: 8529524Abstract: A gland member within a medical valve is configured to have a substantially consistent or enlarging internal volume as the valve transitions from a closed mode to an open mode. The valve has a housing forming an interior containing a flow path, and a stationary post member within the interior. The post member has a lumen that is a part of the flow path. The lumen has an opening to the interior of the housing. The valve further includes a gland member circumscribing the post member to produce a variable volume region formed at least in part between the gland member itself and the post member. The variable volume region is a part of the flow path, while the gland member occludes the post lumen opening when in the closed mode. The variable volume region has an open volume that is no less than its closed volume.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2011Date of Patent: September 10, 2013Assignee: NP Medical Inc.Inventors: Brian L.
