Abstract: A fluid infusion system includes a selector valve for convenient interruption of administration of a primary infusion fluid to a patient to permit administration of a secondary infusion fluid, such as a selected drug solution, followed by resumption of primary fluid flow. The selector valve includes a valve housing with a primary spike for connection to a primary fluid container, a dual path secondary spike for connection to a vial or the like containing the secondary infusion fluid, and an outlet fitting for connection to the patient, for example, through a standard intravenous (IV) infusion set. A valve insert is movably mounted within the valve housing and defines a fluid channel network for controlling flow from the primary and secondary spikes to the outlet fitting.

Abstract: Slide valve and coupling unit for flow control. This unit comprises a slide valve with a valve housing forming a first fluid flow passage, and a slide valve element guided for displacement between closed and open positions in relation to said passage. The unit also comprises a coupling element including a coupling housing which forms a second fluid flow passage to be connected to said first passage, and a recess to receive therein that portion of the valve housing which contains the slide valve element. When the valve housing is received with said portion in the recess of the coupling housing, the valve housing can be displaced in relation to the coupling housing while the slide valve element is retained in the recess, to a position wherein fluid flow connection is established through the passages.
Abstract: A sterile intravenous flow valve includes in-line valve mechanism which is maintained sterile in all of its positions. The valve also includes an adjustment member and a locking mechanism for selectively locking the adjustment member in place to thereby assure accurate flow rate settings. Sterility is achieved by providing a sealed chamber formed by a snap-fit engagement between the adjustment member and the main body member of the valve.
Abstract: An infusion apparatus is provided which can give an infusion with high precision and which allows each changing of the infusion capacity. The apparatus includes a first burette and a second burette connected in series. The burettes communicate with each other through a connector which can be selectively opened or closed by directional control valve means.
Abstract: A post-operative patient drainage and irrigation apparatus, employing a simplified two-position valve to control the passage of fluids into and out of the body of the patient. A two-channel catheter directs body fluids into and out of the control valve. A first flexible tube directs irrigating solutions from a source into the control valve. A second flexible tube, attached at one end to the control valve, serves as a waste conduit from the said valve to a waste receptacle. Check valves carried in rubber squeeze bulbs in the first and second flexible tubes further control the direction of fluid flow and serve to clear obstructions in the apparatus. A simple control changes the two-position control valve position from one mode to another.
Abstract: Valved adaptors are disclosed permitting the introduction of a drug-containing vial in the delivery tube of an I.V. administration set. The adaptors have a three position operation characterized by a bypass mode, a dilution mode, and a delivery mode, the adaptors being manually changed from mode to mode. The disclosed adaptors include gravity operated valves, reciprocating spool valves, and rotating spool valves, each including a spike to penetrate the stopper of a vial and a vent to permit air to escape the vial as liquid is introduced to dilute the vial contents.

Abstract: It is intended to a probe, an apparatus for parenteral or enteral infusion.Two bodies (1, 2) are nested one into the other. They comprise each an inner cylindrical flowing means (4, 11) engaged one into the other by one of the ends thereof (4b, 11b) until the respective closing plates thereof (8, 14) are in contact. The outer casings (3, 10) co-operate by the ends thereof (18, 20) so as to keep the two bodies (1, 2) in an engagement relationship. The two bodies (1, 2) rotatingly move one with respect to the other and hence allow to regulate the flow by variable juxtaposition of the half-moon openings (9, 15) arranged in the closing plates (8, 14).
Abstract: A tap for a drainage bag includes a rotatable valve which is adapted to be readily taken apart for cleaning. The valve includes a body, having a cylindrical recess formed therein, and a cylindrical valve member which fits into the cylindrical recess in the body. The body is secured to a flat flange of plastic, which flange is typically welded, or adhesively fixed, in a face-to-face manner to a wall of the bag. The construction method used to make the tap is particularly well suited to rapid mass-production methods of manufacture.
Abstract: An infusion catheter system which includes a generally cylindrical housing member having a passageway extending therethrough, a guiding catheter having a proximal end disposed at one end of the cylindrical housing member such that the passageway in the housing member communicates with a passage in the guiding catheter, and an infusion catheter slidably positioned within the passage of the guiding catheter. The catheter system also includes a manifold valve which is coupled to the housing member for applying a first fluid through the housing member to the passage of the guiding catheter, and a second manifold valve which is coupled to the infusion catheter for applying a second fluid through the passage of the infusion catheter. Typically, an anticoagulate fluid is applied through the guiding catheter to prevent blood clotting during an infusion procedure and a blood clot dissolving fluid, such as streptokinase, is applied through the infusion catheter.
Abstract: A manifold assembly is provided for monitoring hemodynamic pressures. The manifold assembly comprises a base having first, second and third flush valves mounted thereon. A first three port stopcock is also mounted on the base having one of its ports in fluid flow communication with the first flush valve. One of the ports is in fluid flow communication with an arterial catheter and one of the ports is in fluid flow communication with a pressure monitoring means for determining arterial pressure. A first T-connector is fastened to the second flush valve. A second T-connector is fastened to the third flush valve. A second three port stopcock is mounted on the base with one of its ports in fluid flow communication with the second flush valve through the first T-connector. One of the ports of the second three port stopcock is in fluid flow communication with the third flush valve through the second T-connector.
