Receptacle Structured For Collecting Urine Or Discharge From Male Member (e.g., External Catheter, Etc.) Patents (Class 604/349)
  • Patent number: 4557274
Abstract: A sterile midstream urine collector having an open-ended tubular body and a cup mounted therein, the cup having its open top equipped with a cover that is formed at least in part of a water-soluble material. During use of the device, the cover initially deflects a stream of urine flowing through the collector and within seconds dissolves sufficiently to allow a subsequent uncontaminated portion of the stream to enter the cup. A sample evacuation passage extends from the cup and communicates, or is adapted to communicate, with a collection tube assembly which may take the form of an air-evacuated collection tube with a piercable stopper or a syringe with a retractable plunger.

Abstract: A urinary device which is principally but not exclusively intended for female and which enables urination from a standing or sitting position. The urinal device which provides for both conduction and collection modes comprises an upper bowl member and a removable lower conducting and/or collector member which is suspended from the lower portion of the bowl member. The lower conducting and collector member is formed of a waterproof material which is sufficiently relatively flexible whereby it can be folded or compressed upon itself and stored within the bowl member until use when it is extended to operating position. The distal end of the lower conducting/collector member is provided with a tapered discharge opening and with means for sealing the discharge opening to contain the discharged urine when used in the collecting mode. The upper opening of the bowl member is contoured to envelope the perineum when in position for use.

  • Patent number: 4527988
Abstract: An improved contraceptive device comprising a condom of conventional shape and material such as latex. A large number of small holes in the condom allow the transfer of hormonal, pheromonal, and other bio-active fluids during sexual intercourse. The cross sectional diameter of the holes is made small enough to impede the passage of human spermatozoa so that the contraceptive function is retained.

  • Patent number: 4500314
Abstract: A device to facilitate putting an elastic envelope (1) on a part projecting from a human body, e.g. putting a urinal drop collector onto a penis, consists of a casing (4) with two flexible side walls (5, 6) connected to each other along at least two of their side edges (5a, 6a; 5b, 6b) and with at least one opening (8) between two other side edges of the walls. The envelope is at least partially enclosed between the walls (5, 6) and its portion provided with an opening (2) is removably attached to said opening (8). By pressing the mutually connected side edges towards each other the opening (8) is enlarged between the walls, the opening of the envelope also being enlarged. The casing (4) is substantially flat when it is not used, and the space between it and the envelope (1) is airtight, whereby, when the opening (8) between the walls is extended, the portion of the envelope situated inside the casing is enlarged so that the envelope can be put onto part of the human body.

  • Patent number: 4498466
Abstract: A condom comprises an elongated generally tubular member of thin, flexible material and having an elongated opening provided along at least a substantial portion of the length of the elongated tubular member so as to facilitate placing the elongated tubular member over a flaccid penis. The elongated tubular member may contain a plurality of compartments, each of which contains rheopexic material so that the condom stiffens in use. A slide fastener closure device is provided for closing the elongated opening after placing the condom on a flaccid penis. Further disclosed is an elongated generally tubular member containing rheopexic material for use as an implanted penile prosthesis which stiffens upon agitation.

  • Patent number: 4475909
Abstract: A male urinary device and method for applying for an incontinent patient comprising a sheath and a cushion strip interposed between the sheath and the penis. The cushion strip includes a seat portion and an arm extending out from one side of the seat and another arm extending out from the opposite side thereof. The second arm is positioned offset from the first arm so that the arms do not overlap on each other when wrapped around the penis. The seat and the arms are dimensioned so that the arms also do not overlap on the seat. The adjacent edges of the arms are applied to abut each other when the cushion strip encircles the penis and forms a continuous ring therearound, which is non-bulging on the upper surface thereof. The cooperation of the sheath and the level cushion strip affords a liquid tight seal between the sheath and the cushion strip. The abutting adjacent edges of the arms prevent liquid leakage therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4432357
Abstract: A condom having a plurality of deformable sealed chambers along at least a portion of the length thereof, rheopexic fluid being filled in the deformable sealed chambers. When the chambers are deformed during use of the condom, shear stress is applied to the rheopexic fluid due to deformation of the sealed chambers to cause the rheopexic fluid to increase its consistency as a function of increasing shear stress applied thereto, thereby providing a stiffening effect to the condom.
