  • Patent number: 10515324
Abstract: A crew planning system includes a demand forecasting module and an optimization module. The system forecasts anticipated reserve demand levels, and determines suitable reserve staffing approaches to meet anticipated reserve demand. The forecasting is based upon probabilistic distribution models which take into account variability associated with reserve demand for a particular day. Via use of the crew planning system, reserve staffing expenses may be reduced and/or reserve demand may be met with a higher degree of probability.

  • Patent number: 10478308
Abstract: A humerus head implant includes a head cap, a fixing component, and a bone-screw component. The head cap has a shape of half-an-ellipsoid extending into a positive z-direction along the z-axis, in positive and negative x-directions, and in positive and negative y-directions. The extension along the x-direction is in a range of 0.8 to 0.95 of the extension in the y-direction. There is a conical recess having a center axis that is displaced in the negative y-direction with respect to the z-axis and configured to interface with a conical section of the fixing component. This allows for rotation of the head cap relative to the fixing component.

  • Patent number: 10342669
Abstract: A glenoid system (100) includes a baseplate (102) configured to attach to a glenoid cavity of a patient. In a primary configuration, a biocompatible plastic liner (332) can snap into a circumferential groove (120) on the baseplate, to attach to a lateral facing surface (104) of the baseplate, at one or more locations around the groove. In a reverse configuration, a glenosphere (544, 644) can attach to an adapter (542, 642), which in turn can attach to the lateral-facing surface of the baseplate. The adapter can introduce lateral and/or angular offsets between the baseplate and the glenosphere, which can correct for unwanted offsets or inclinations. A middle peg extension (752) can screw onto a medial end of the middle peg (114), which can offer different combinations of peg length and peg material. The baseplates can be made available in various discrete sizes, each of which has the same distance between the middle peg and an inferior screw hole (112).

Abstract: A method of installing a prosthesis assembly includes installing a base component in a prepared glenoid vault, axially aligning a plurality of slots in one of a stretched glenoid bearing component and a base component with a plurality of ridges in the other of the glenoid bearing component and the base component, each of the plurality of slots having a maximum length which is greater than a maximum length of a respective one of the plurality of ridges, engaging each of the plurality of ridges with the respective one of the plurality of grooves thereby rotatably coupling the glenoid bearing component and the base component and limiting axial movement of the glenoid bearing component relative to the base component, and placing the bearing surface into articulating contact with a humeral head.

  • Patent number: 9439768
Abstract: A joint prosthesis system, specifically a shoulder prosthesis, for shoulder replacement, revision and repair. The implants provide fixation into the best bone available to a surgeon. The implants are used in a superior-inferior and anterior-posterior construct forming a type of cross or X-shape. The implants allow for interchangeability of the articulating component as well as rotational orientation. The systems will allow for augments to accommodate bone loss. The implants may allow for additional security using screws or anchors inserted into the scapula.

  • Patent number: 9421105
Abstract: A humeral component of a shoulder prosthesis encloses a stem module which has a shank and an upper shank portion with a stem support surface. A joint adapter is adapted to hold either a liner or a spherical cap. The joint adapter has an adapter support surface which interfaces with the stem support surface. Further, the stem support surface and the adapter support surface have corresponding radial arc shaped sections which allow positioning of the joint adapter against the stem module at different inclination angles. For fastening the joint adapter to the stem module, a bolt or screw is provided.

  • Patent number: 9408613
Abstract: A bone reamer includes a first member having a first hub and a second member having a second hub. The first hub can extend along a first axis and have a pair of elongated cutting arms that are fixed to the first hub. The elongated cutting arms can extend along a second axis that is generally perpendicular relative to the first axis. The first hub can define a track thereon. The second hub can extend along a third axis. The second member can have a second pair of elongated cutting arms that are fixed to the second hub and extend along a fourth axis that is generally perpendicular to the third axis. The second member can have a track follower extending thereon and that is configured to slideably advance along the track causing the first and second members to move between a collapsed position and an expanded position.

  • Patent number: 9370428
Abstract: A method for performing an arthroplasty on at least one of a glenoid or a humerus of a glenohumeral joint. The method includes the following: forming an entry incision in soft tissue superior and lateral to the glenohumeral joint; forming a passage from the entry incision to the glenohumeral joint; inserting a cutting instrument through the passage and cutting a humeral head of the humerus to prepare the humerus to receive an implant including a stem; inserting the implant through the passage; and securing the implant relative to the humerus with the implant oriented such that the stem extends substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the humerus.

  • Patent number: 9364334
Abstract: A prosthesis is provided and includes a central body having an outer surface and a longitudinal axis extending between a first end having an opening operable to receive an installation tool and a second end spaced apart from the first end. The outer surface extends between and connects the first end and the second end and defines the length of the central body. The prosthesis additionally includes a plurality of arms each attached to the outer surface of the central body and having an outer shape defined by a porous coating independent from a shape of the central body. The porous coating completely covers the outer surface of the central body between the first end and the second end.

  • Patent number: 9345523
Abstract: The present invention provides for a variety of fracture fixation options should a fracture occur after total hip arthroplasty or total knee arthroplasty, and provides associated methods and apparatus for application of provided fixation. The ability to pre-engineer fracture fixation contingent solutions into femoral or tibial components provides for a distinct clinical advantage in the planning and execution for periprosthetic fracture fixation. Said methods and apparatus include targeting devices which allow for intimate association of fixed angle locking screws in pre-drilled holes in an existing prosthetic, femoral nail, or other components including additional fixation components. Use of pre-engineered fracture fixation contingent solutions into femoral or tibial components provides for a distinct clinical advantage in the planning and execution for periprosthetic fracture fixation.
