Tibial Bone Patents (Class 623/20.32)
  • Publication number: 20010039455
Abstract: A cartilage plug, which is made from a biocompatible, artificial material, that is used to fill a void in natural cartilage that has been resected due to traumatic injury or chronic disease. Alternatively, the plug may be relied upon to anchor a flowable polymer to subchondral bone. The plug is prefabricatable in any size, shape, and contour and may be utilized either singly or in a plurality to fill any size void for any application. The plug may be formed of a laminated structure to match the physiological requirements of the repair site. A plurality of anchoring elements may share a single upper layer.

  • Patent number: 6299645
Abstract: A knee joint prosthesis is provided for implanting on the tibial plateau and femoral condyle of the knee. The prosthesis includes a tibial prosthesis having a tibial fixation surface on the tibial prosthesis adapted to be positioned on the tibial plateau. The tibial fixation surface has at least one tibial attachment means for securing the tibial prosthesis to the tibial plateau. It further includes a femoral prosthesis having a femoral fixation surface adapted to be positioned on the femoral condyle. The femoral fixation surface has at least one femoral attachment means for securing the femoral prosthesis to the femoral condyle. The prosthesis further includes a bearing member supported by the tibial prosthesis for engaging the femoral prosthesis in weight bearing relationships.

  • Patent number: 6258127
Abstract: A tibia part of a knee joint prosthesis includes a tibia platform having a distal side, and an anchoring element. The anchoring element is arranged on the distal side of the tibia platform and attached to the tibia platform. In one embodiment, the anchoring element is formed by a shield having a height which is smaller than a width of the shield, and the shield has a U-, C- or V-shape as seen from the tibia platform.

  • Patent number: 6245110
Abstract: A knee joint endoprosthesis has an element for the femur (2) which is substantially U-shaped when seen from a medial to a lateral angle, one horizontal, two diagonal and two vertical support surfaces facing the femur for accommodation on the resected femur bone, which is fitted with two runners (24, 25), and an element for the tibia (1) having two slide tracks (4, 5) on which the runners for the femur element can roll, and optionally slide, and a horizontal support surface (6) facing the tibia for accommodation on the resected tibia. The femur element (20) and tibia element (1) are configured without any shanks. At least both diagonal support surfaces of the femur element (2) and the horizontal support surface (6) of the tibia element (20) are fitted with an open-mesh, three-dimensional spatial network structure (7) which is an integral component of the base structures (8, 8′) of the femur element (20) and the tibia element (1).

  • Patent number: 6179876
Abstract: A compression ring for use in implanting an orthopedics prosthesis, the ring having an interior surface generally conforming to a peripheral wall of a base plate of the prosthesis, the compression ring being adapted to extend beyond a lower surface of the prosthesis, forming a cavity bounded by the lower surface and the compression ring. Also, a kit consisting of an orthopedic appliance having a base plate with a peripheral wall and a lower surface adapted to abut a resected bone surface, and a compression ring having an interior surface generally conforming to the peripheral wall of the base plate and slidingly received thereon, the compression ring being adapted to extend beyond the lower surface, forming a cavity bounded by the lower surface and the compression ring.

  • Patent number: 6171342
Abstract: A medical fastening system for a modular knee prosthesis system includes a femoral component having a first surface, a second surface, and an aperture extending therebetween. A modular adapter element has a first end that is mountable adjacent the first surface of the femoral component and a second, mating end that is engagable with a second prosthesis component. The system also includes a first bolt that mates the adapter element to the femoral component. Various connection options are possible to secure different components of the system to each other.
