  • Patent number: 6082042
Abstract: A bait station for containing rat poison contains a housing; at least one opening in the housing for a rat to enter; and a bait position in the housing for locating poisoned bait. A divider is provided between the bait position and each opening to prevent direct access to the bait from the opening, for example by a child. However, there are at least two different routes from the bait position leading to openings. Research has shown that rats, unlike mice, prefer not to eat in a confined space and it is believed that the choice of escape routes offered by the bait station of the invention encourages a rat to eat more of the bait. The bait station may include a hinged lid with locking means to prevent tampering with the bait.

  • Patent number: 4884424
Abstract: A mortise cylinder lock guard for providing protection to a mortise cylinder lock when installed in a door includes a collar for situating between a front face of the lock and the door and substantially surrounding the lock at an outer periphery thereof. A cover is attached to the collar to substantially cover and prevent access to a keyhole of the lock. A hinge attaches the collar and the cover together to allow the cover to be moved between an open and a closed position, the open position permitting access to the keyhole and the closed position preventing access to the keyhole. A hasp is coupled to the collar and the cover for permitting locking of the cover in a closed position by use of a padlock.

  • Patent number: 4881386
Abstract: A locking bolt is provided in a mount for receiving a gun barrel or other article. The locking bolt can be cammed relative to the mount from its normally locked position to an unlocked position to permit release of the gun barrel from the mount. The locking bolt is cammed to its unlocked position in response to direct engagement with a key inserted into an interior region of the mount and rotated relative to the mount. Thus, the mount is formed to include a keyway configured to permit the key itself to impart motion to a locking bolt to unlock the mount.

  • Patent number: 4821538
Abstract: A container device by which a patron of a hotel or motel can leave articles such as shoes outwardly of the patron's room door for pick up and servicing by an attendant, but with the assuredness that the articles are locked for withdrawal only by an attendant who has lock-operation ability. No such ability is required of the patron, who achieves the locked condition of a container by the embrace of the patron's door by an abutment carried by a retainer connected to the container; and it is provided that the room door, in closed condition, itself is used both to block the container's access opening as well as to provide an abutment co-operating with the abutment to block movement of the device away from the door. The abutment is made movable, providing if desired another setting in which a full release of the container is achieved by pulling the abutment and its retainer outwardly of the door.

  • Patent number: 4813254
Abstract: A bar lock system includes first and second plates. Each plate includes lugs for mating with an adjacent plate. The first plate includes an inner wall defining an axial bore having opposite forward and rearward openings and the second plate includes an inner wall defining a bolt-receiving cup. The stop member extends a predetermined distance into the axial bore to provide a rearwardly presented blocking surface. A key-actuated bar lock mechanism is position within the axial bore of the first plate for sliding movement therein toward a second plate-locking position. The bar lock mechanism includes a bolt for entering the bolt-receiving cup upon movement of the bar lock mechanism to its second plate-locking position.

  • Patent number: 4790158
Abstract: A pressure-resistent locking mechanism for locking a door of a switch cell accommodating a switching device includes two pivotable locking bars positioned in hollows formed by U-shaped door edges and U-shaped portions of the wall of the switch cell at a hinge side of the door and a closing side of the door. The locking bars are pivoted between a locked position and a released position by pivoting levers against the forces of respective springs. The springs always urge the locking bars to the rest position.

  • Patent number: 4758817
Abstract: An acoustic apparatus such as a radio receiver and tape player is mounted into an interior panel such as a dashboard of an automobile. The acoustic apparatus includes a housing having a size insertable into an aperture formed in the interior panel. The housing is inserted through the aperture from the front side of the interior panel and is firmly attached to the interior panel by manually actuating mount knobs provided in the front of the housing. A theft detecting circuit arrangement including a switch operable from the front side of the housing is provided in the housing and protective members are provided for covering the mount knobs. The protective members include operating plates for operating the switch. Upon the detachment of the protective member, the electric circuit arrangement is actuated to produce a warning signal to prevent the detachment of the acoustic apparatus from the interior panel without permission.

Abstract: A releasable locking device for preventing premature coupling of a truck tractor's air braking glad hand to a truck trailer's air braking glad hand is disclosed. The device includes a set of jaws adapted to interlock with each other and the non air-connecting end of a glad hand. A channel integral with the set of jaws houses a barrel lock to effect control of the interlocking of the set of jaws with the non air-connecting end of the glad hand so that, when the set of jaws is interlocked with each other and the non air-connecting end of a glad hand, an operator may not prematurely couple a truck tractor's air brakes to a truck trailer's air brakes.

  • Patent number: 4573332
Abstract: A portable security box is provided comprising a container formed from a pair of mating sections and a lock carried by one of the sections and having a flexible cable extending therefrom. The other section defines an opening for accessing the lock when both sections are in a closed position. The other section also defines a pair of openings which align with openings in the first section when the sections are in the closed position. In this manner, the cable can extend from the lock carried by the one section, through the aligned openings, and back to the lock, to secure the sections in the closed position. The container is formed from a pair of plastic sections which are hinged together at an end opposite the end at which the lock is located.
