Multiple Patents (Class 70/198)
  • Patent number: 11273860
Abstract: A collapse-limiting assembly for a steering system is provided. The collapse-limiting assembly comprises a housing and a moveable member. A pyrotechnic charge is located in the housing and, in response to an impact event, is caused to fire the moveable member into a discharged position and limit the amount of collapse of a steering column. The steering column includes at least two axially moveable portions that move axially relative to each other between an extended position and a retracted position. When the moveable member is fired into the discharged position, it is located in a travel path of at least one of the axially moveable portions.

  • Publication number: 20130008212
Abstract: A brake/clutch locking system has a brake panel-blocking rod attached to a slidable axial tube in an axial tube to which an anti-lock mechanism is connected. A block in a chamber operatively coupled to a coil spring has a mass that produces more kinetic energy than the coil spring. The block has a shoulder portion with a shape corresponding to a protruding lower edge of a coil spring biased pin that slides into a bored hole provided in the wall of the axial tube and on the slidable axial tube, blocking movement of the slidable axial tube when an external force applied to the block creates a sufficient amount of kinetic energy to move the block from the protruding edge of the pin.

  • Patent number: 6732556
Abstract: The anti-theft device is for covering the brake and gas pedals of a vehicle. It includes a gas pedal cover placed over the gas pedal, a brake pedal cover placed over the brake pedal, with the brake pedal cover having an upwardly extending ledge having an opening therein. A slide bracket is placed opposite the brake pedal cover and has an opening opposite the opening in the ledge. An L-shaped bracket is provided having a pair of arms. Fasteners connect each arm of the L-shaped bracket to one of the pedal covers. A padlock extends through the openings in the slide bracket and ledge for securing the slide bracket to the brake pedal cover.

  • Patent number: 6250589
Abstract: An apparatus for rigidly interlocking a control stick and the rudder pedals of an aircraft is provided for protecting the control surfaces of the aircraft operated by the control stick and the rudder pedals against wind loads. The apparatus comprises a control stick clamp assembly rigidly connected to one end of a first lever arm and a rudder pedal retaining assembly rigidly connected to another end of the first lever arm. A second lever arm has one end connected to the rudder pedal retaining assembly. The second lever arm is moveable between a collapsed position and an extended position wherein the distal end of the second lever arm is engageable with a support surface such that the second lever arm is able to support the rudder pedal retaining assembly in engagement with each of the rudder pedals and thereby cause, upon the control stick clamp assembly being secured to the control stick, the first lever arm to support the control stick in a selected position.

  • Patent number: 6131424
Abstract: A vehicle pedal locking device includes a multi-piece housing assembly having an internal chamber, a two-part sleeve-like pedal engaging member disposed within the housing assembly, and a lock assembly for selectively securing the housing assembly portions in a pedal-securing orientation. Housing assembly portions each include a corresponding portion of the pedal engaging member, and the pedal engaging member pieces secure opposite ends of a selected brake pedal. The lock assembly is key operated and substantially enclosed within the device outer housing. The housing internal chamber substantially surrounds the secured brake pedal and accelerator. With this arrangement, the present invention prevents unwanted pedal operation. The present invention also protects the secured pedals and included lock assembly from abuse and makes unauthorized removal of the device difficult.

  • Patent number: 5911391
Abstract: A locking apparatus in combination with a locking pin and method for rigidly interlocking a control wheel and the rudder pedals of an aircraft is provided for securing the control surfaces of the aircraft operated by the control wheel and the rudder pedals in a stable position. The locking pin is adapted to be disposed through aligned locking pin receiving holes of the control column and the control panel collar and has a recess formed therein for lockingly receiving a portion of the control column. The locking apparatus includes a pair of control wheel retaining members rigidly connected to one end of a rod member for retainingly engaging the control wheel and a rudder pedal engaging bar rigidly connected to one end of another rod member. The rudder pedal engaging bar is positionable in a V-shaped notch of each of the rudder pedals so as to engage each of the rudder pedals and so as to secure the rudder pedal engaging bar on the rudder pedals.
