Abstract: A three stage lock unit according to the teachings of the preferred embodiment of the present invention is shown as including a patented combination lock secured within an outer housing of the lock unit which is secured to a mail box door or any small door. Combined with the combination lock is a push button constrained by the combination lock until the correct lock combination is dialed releasing an arm of the push button placed to utilize a hole in the door previously used for another type of lock. The push button arm extends inward to an inner housing to contact the sliding spring mounted door latch within a slot of the latch and opens the unit door when pushed inwardly. A spring activated pin within the door latch extending into the slot to meet the push button arm helps to close the system smoothly by providing an auxiliary force through pressure on the push button arm to relatch with the combination lock latch.

  • Patent number: 4856306
Abstract: A double zipper lock for a luggage case comprises a base with a housing containing a combination lock, and a U-shaped loop adapted to embrace the housing. Arms of the loop are pivotally mounted on opposite ends of the housing and a bight portion of the loop cooperates with portions of the base to form chambers that, when closed, trap zipper sliders. When the combination lock is set on-combination, the user may lift the loop, to free the sliders, by engaging the bight portion with the fingers of a hand and using the thumb to press a manual actuator inwardly of the housing. The actuator is part of a bolt that is supported for pivotal and translational movement. The translational movement, which is permitted only when the lock is on-combination, causes pivotal movement of a latch member from a latching position to an unlatching position. In the latching position, the latch member prevents lifting of the loop.

Only when the numbers of the revolving rings are set to the predetermined numbers, a spare key can be taken out because the cap of the apparatus is released from an inlet of the fuel tank. Although a driver has lost his car key or locks the door with his key being left in the car or he does not have a key, he can drive his car by utilization of a spare key which is installed under the fuel tank cap. In case his secret number for the spare key is known to others, he can easily change the number to a new number. • Patent number: 4754623
Abstract: An adjustable combination numerical lock comprising a hook, a first tray, a second tray, a contact chip, two or more number dials, springs and driving rolls. The number dials, the springs, and the driving rolls are respectively set in the second tray, and the hook wedged with the contact chip is put on the two trays. When this lock is locked, the sliding strips do not engage with the recesses of the driving rolls, thereby allowing the driving rolls to rotate with the number dials. Therefore, the sliding strips will be prevented from sliding up if the combination is off. When the numbers are put into the right combination, the lock is opened and the sliding strips are partly engaged with the recesses so that the hook can be pulled up. The combination of the lock can be changed (while in opening combination) by turning the hook right 90 degrees and then pulling it up so that the sliding strips are completely engaged with the recesses. This keeps the driving rolls from rotating with the number dials.

The sockets and shaft are axially movable with respect to the rollers and rotating at least one roller relative to its associated socket varies the combination. The lock has an axially movable frame and a closer associated with the frame which can move the frame in one direction to open and close the case and in the other direction to place the lock in position to change the combination.

  • Patent number: 4682483
Abstract: A permutation lock is mountable on one section of a case and is adapted to secure a hasp carried by another portion of the case. The lock comprises a main housing in which a permutation setting mechanism is disposed. That mechanism includes a movable spring-biased locking element which is movable between a locking position and an unlocking position. A movable spring-biased locking bolt is arranged for rotation between a locking position for securing the hasp and an unlocking position for releasing the hasp. When the locking element is in its locking position, it prevents the bolt from moving from its locking position to its unlocking position. The bolt is mounted in an ancillary housing which is connected to the main housing at a rear end thereof, such that a wall separates the bolt from the locking element.

  • Patent number: 4679419
Abstract: A combination lock has a faceplate movable from a first position to a second position only when combination dials are set to an opening combination of the lock, the dials being movable with the faceplate portion from the first position to the second position and being rotatable relative to the faceplate. A spring biases the faceplate portion toward the first position. A manually shiftable member, also movable with the faceplate from the first position to the second position, is shiftable relative to the faceplate to hold the faceplate in the second position and, at the same time, to permit the dials to select a new opening combination of the lock. The faceplate constitutes a manual actuator that controls a latch.
