Cylinder Type Patents (Class 70/357)
  • Publication number: 20090019904
Abstract: A thin key that is thin but includes serrations on each of two opposite sides of a blade (42, 72). The key is associated with a cylinder lock including a rotor (13) with tumblers (21-28) retained in the rotor. The blade, which is for insertion into the rotor of the cylinder lock, includes opposite first and second wide sides (F1, F3; F2, F4) and opposite first and second narrow sides (51, 74; 52, 75). A first notch (54, 76) is formed in the first wide side and a second notch (64, 86) is formed in the second wide side. The first and second notches each have a serrated wall (54a, 76a; 64a, 86a) engageable with the tumblers. The first notch and the second notch are spaced apart so that they do not overlap each other. The sum of the depths of the first and second notches (L1, D1; L2, D2) is greater than or equal to the thickness of the blade (L3, D3).

  • Publication number: 20080289378
Abstract: A wafer-type tumbler cylinder comprises a sleeve, a cylinder, some wafers, and some springs. A shaft of the cylinder includes a first and a second semicircular columnar body. The first semicircular columnar body includes a front flanges, a rear drive section and a U-shaped indentation at the inner lateral surface that provides for insertion into the second semicircular columnar body. On the first and second semicircular columnar bodies, one or more slots are disposed to fasten with the wafers. A relatively wider rectangular notch is disposed between the inner sides of every two slots, which are respectively installed with a wafer; only one spring is positioned in the wider rectangular notch, thereby serving as a shared spring for every two wafers. The material cost of a spring is saved; besides, it's able to prevent from prying effectively because a burglar cannot pry two wafers supported by a shared spring.

  • Publication number: 20080264123
Abstract: The invention relates to a cylinder core (1) which can be mounted in a rotatable manner in a locking device, in particular of a storage compartment or of a glove compartment of a motor vehicle, and has a head region (6), which has a key channel (2) into which a key can be introduced, and a retaining region (7), which adjoins the head region (6) and is formed with a control means (8) which, when the cylinder core (1) is rotated about its axis of rotation (11), moves an arresting means, which is arranged in the locking device, for a closing and/or opening operation. The invention provides for the cylinder core (1) to have at least two material bodies (6, 7, 8), wherein a first material body (6, 7) is configured with the head region (6), which contains a first plastic, and a second material body (7, 8) is designed with the control means (8), which contains a second plastic, the second plastic having a higher strength than the first plastic.

  • Patent number: 6502439
Abstract: A lock mechanism includes a lock housing having an upper surface with a pair of opposing L-shaped ears, a lower surface with a pair of opposing L-shaped ears, and a front surface with an orifice therethrough. A lock plug cylinder has a face with a key slot therethrough, the lock plug cylinder received within the lock housing through the orifice in the front face. A mounting bracket has a front face with an orifice, a pair of laterally disposed flanges projecting from the front face, and a pair of retaining flanges projecting substantially perpendicularly from the front face. The lock housing is received between the retaining flanges in such a way as to have the retaining flanges received by respective upper and lower opposing ears.

  • Patent number: 6314774
Abstract: A cylinder lock (1) comprises a cylinder housing (2), a plug (3) having a key slot (3c), and a driver (20). The cylinder housing (2) has a row of pin channels in a “twelve o'clock” position and a row of pin channels in a “ten o'clock” position, to enable the lock to be operated with a service key that can be inserted in the “ten o'clock” position. A cylindrical latching element (15) surrounds the inner end of the plug and moves in accompaniment with rotation of the plug as the plug is turned with a standard key (8). The latching element (15) is held fixed when the plug is rotated by means of a service key (9). The latching element is designed to co-act with means on the driver that enable the plug (3) to move axially upon transition of the “twelve o'clock” position, wen the plug is rotated by means of the service key. The latching element is held fixed in relation to the housing (2) by means of an intermediate pin (6).

  • Patent number: 4759204
Abstract: A lock mechanism comprises a housing having a bore therein, a sleeve located within said bore, means for indexing said sleeve within said bore at a selected angular disposition in relation to said sleeve, a rotor which is rotatably mounted and axially slidable within said sleeve, said rotor having a longitudinally extending key slot, pistons slidable within bores in said sleeve and rotor between a first position where said sleeve and rotor are coupled together for simultaneous rotation and a second position on insertion of a key in said slot, and a control element for effecting movement of mechanism to be controlled. The rotor is movable axially from a first position where it is disengaged from said control element and a second position where it drivably engages said control element.
