Patent number: 7077437Abstract: An integrated mortise lock trim mechanism is provided for mounting on the surface of a door and has a handle turning a spindle that extends into the door to operate a lock mechanism mounted therein. The trim assembly is pre-assembled and has a retracting spindle that extends between the trim mechanism and the lock mechanism to accommodate varying door thicknesses. The preferred assembly utilizes a cover plate, spring and mounting plate assembly holding a pair of alignment through bolts. This assembly is fit onto a door handle and secured to the door handle by a cap nut. An elongated spring is disposed in the handle and is secured to a spindle which axially extends from the handle. The spindle is automatically retracted or extended to optimally fit into the hub of a mortise lock.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2004Date of Patent: July 18, 2006Assignee: Sargent Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Richard Hai Huang

Patent number: 6941778Abstract: A lock for a door (10) comprises a casing (11), a bolt (55) operable to extend from or retract into the casing, a pivoted operating handle (36) operable at one side of the door to retract the bolt, lock means (28) for key operation at the other side of the door, and blocking means (81) to prevent operation of the handle to retract the bolt. In a locked closed position of the door, the bolt (55) is extended, and with the blocking means operated, key operation of the exterior lock means (28) both retracts the bolt and also de-actuates the blocking means. At the inside of the door further key operable lock means (39, 40) are provided sokly to operate and, if required to the de-actuate the blocking means.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2001Date of Patent: September 13, 2005Assignee: Banham Patent Locks LimitedInventor: Brian Edward Cowper

Patent number: 6718806Abstract: An electronic locking system is provided wherein an electronic lock's restriction of movement of a locked securing member, such as a door latch or bolt, can be selectively overridden from inside a locked enclosure by manual manipulation of a handle. The handle moves the securing member to open a locked barrier even though the electronic lock remains in a locked condition.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2002Date of Patent: April 13, 2004Assignee: Videx, Inc.Inventor: Paul R. Patent number: 6327880Abstract: A door lock device is disposed on a door (1). The door (1) has an upper through hole (11) and a lower through hole (12). The door lock device has a latch bolt device (6) disposed on the door (1), a case frame (2) having an upper hollow cylinder (22) inserted through the upper through hole (11) and a lower hollow cylinder (23) inserted through the lower through hole (12), a first pressing plate (8) disposed on the case frame (2), a core (3) disposed in the upper hollow cylinder (22), a lock fastener device (4) disposed in the upper hollow cylinder (22), and a drive mechanism (5) disposed in the upper hollow cylinder (22). The drive mechanism (5) has a rack (53) to drive the latch bolt device (6). A locking plate (71) covers the upper through hole (11) and the lower through hole (12). A decoration plate (72) is disposed on the locking plate (71). A second pressing plate (8′) is disposed on the decoration plate (72).Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1999Date of Patent: December 11, 2001Inventor: Chia-Pei Liang

Patent number: 5556144Abstract: An auxiliary door latch includes a lock device for locking the auxiliary door latch from inside of the door panel so as to prevent the door panel from opening from outside of the door panel. The auxiliary door latch includes a knob having a tube extended inwards of the door panel, and a rod slidably engaged in the tube and having a pair of legs. The tube includes a pair of slots for engaging with the legs of the rod. The rod is depressed inwards of the knob so as to prevent the rod from rotational movement and so as to lock the auxiliary door latch.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1994Date of Patent: September 17, 1996Assignee: Taiwan Fu Hsing Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventor: Jui-Chang Lin

Patent number: 5301526Abstract: A lock set for use with a deadbolt which includes an improved spindle mechanism is disclosed. The improved spindle mechanism permits the lock set to unlatch the deadbolt by rotating an inner knob without the need to operate a spindle-turning button.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1992Date of Patent: April 12, 1994Assignee: Tong-Lung Metal Industry Co. Ltd.Inventors: Yaw-Shin Fann, San-Yi Lin, Ming-Shyang Chiou, Rong-Faa Wu, Ching-Chuan Kuo

Patent number: 5177987Abstract: A key-in-lever type door lock which can be installed on either a left hand or right hand door by a left-right reverse operation of a reverse plate. The lock comprises a lock assembly which regulates a uni-directional, 45-degree rotation of a handle thereof and a latch assembly which converts the 45-degree rotational movement to a retraction of a latch bolt. The lock is jimmy-proof, i.e., secure against improper manipulation, by the provision of a latch stop pivoted to the latch bolt and being movable together therewith. The latch stop, which has a catch end normally blocked by a retaining plate, is operationally pivotable about the latch bolt to release the blockage, thereby permitting a relative sliding movement between the latch stop and the retaining plate.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1991Date of Patent: January 12, 1993Inventor: Chao C. Patent number: 4945737Abstract: A lockset for a door comprising a latch bolt assembly including a bolt movable between a partially extended latching position, a fully extending dead bolt position, and a retracted position. A spring biases the bolt toward its dead bolt position and a spindle extends through the latch assembly. The spindle is connected to the bolt to move the bolt between its positions upon rotation of the spindle. A mechanism is provided for holding the latch bolt in its latching position when the door is open and a mechanism responsive to the closing of the door is provided to move the latch bolt automatically into its dead bolt position.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 1985Date of Patent: August 7, 1990Assignee: Emhart Industries, Inc.Inventor: Leroy Hart
