  • Patent number: 9003842
Abstract: A latch has a displaceable latching element in a housing for engagement with a separate striker arm to be latched behind an engagement shoulder of the latching element. The housing mounts a cylinder lock to receive a key from the front. A rotor is mounted on the rear of cylinder lock and rotation of the key causes rotation of the rotor to drive a locking element to engage and lock the latching element. The rotor may also be axial displaceable against spring biasing responsive to a rear unit pushing element whereby unlocking from a rear cylinder lock may rotate the rotor to unlock and pushing causes the latching element to be displaced against its biasing to release the striker arm.

  • Patent number: 8127578
Abstract: A gate latch is adapted to be installed on a gate post and a complementary striker arm is secured typically to a gate so that, upon closure of the gate, the striker arm engages a displacable latching element mounted in a housing of the latch to displace the latching element. The latching element is biased towards its open position but when the striker arm engages with the latching element it is displaced, thereby releasing an interference portion of a biased locking element, whereby the locking element is released to move under its biasing into a locking position so that self-locking is provided for the latch. A rotary release mechanism may be actuated to return the locking element so that the latching element can be released to release the striker bar and the gate may be opened.

  • Patent number: 6471262
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for locking a part (3; 21; 31) that is to be secured, arranged so that it can move on a motor vehicle, a securing part (11; 26; 36) engaging in a slot-shaped cavity (7; 28; 38) of the part (3; 21; 31) that is to be secured under the effect of the acceleration forces that occur when the corresponding vehicle coincides with an obstacle. To allow the device to be fitted simply and in a non-bulky way and to reliably prevent unintentional opening of the door of the vehicle when acceleration forces from different directions are applied on the part that is to be secured, the invention proposes that the securing part (11; 26; 36) be controlled by a control element (10; 22; 32) of spherical shape, the control element (10; 22; 32) resting on a guide (8; 23; 33) via domed or conical control surfaces (9).

  • Patent number: 6173594
Abstract: A locking apparatus of a game machine has the following components: a locking bar provided with a plurality of first engaging portions; engaging members having second engaging portions engageable with the first engaging portions; and a locking bar actuating member for actuating the locking bar from an engaging position where the first engaging portions engage with the second engaging portions to a disengaged position where the first engaging portions are out of engagement with the second engaging portions. A locking device performs, in accordance with operation of a key, a change-over between an unlocked state which permits the actuation of the locking bar into a disengaged position by the locking bar actuating member and a locked state which prohibits the actuation of the locking bar into the disengaged position by the locking bar actuating member.

  • Patent number: 6067823
Abstract: The present invention relates to an arrangement for a locking mechanism comprising a lock bolt spring-assisted in the intended direction of locking, which is contained inside a lock casing connected to a plate capable of attachment along the side of a door. An actuating arm projects laterally form said lock bolt and capable of actuation by means of a handle connection extending through a door of the intended kind and a handle projecting on either side of the door. A pivoting follower acts between said handle and actuating arm for the purpose of actuating the actuating arm and the lock bolt. • Patent number: 4813722
Abstract: An improved locking device for a latching and locking mechanism wherein upon a motor vehicle rear seatback being unlocked it adapted to be unlatched for swinging to a fold-down position by pivoting a handle portion of an operating lever providing pass through access between the vehicle passenger compartment and rear storage trunk. The locking device provides a key locking cylinder which in its locked mode has a lock bar biased in one direction such that its one end contacts a cam segment on the cylinder. The lock bar is formed with a pair of notches spaced on centers equal to the spacing between support webs of a pivoting operating lever. The notches are positioned to block the pivoting of the lever in the cylinder locked mode by being misaligned with the support webs.

  • Patent number: 4763934
Abstract: Door lock and lock assemblies are useful, for example, in vehicle cabs. Latch and lock assemblies of known structures which can be unlocked from inside the cab while remaining locked from outside the cab require complex and bulky linkage assemblies. The subject door latch and lock assembly includes pivotal outer and inner actuator. The pivotal movement of the outer actuator simultaneously pivots the inner actuator to open a catch mechanism. Pivot movement of the inner actuator can be independent of the outer actuator. A locking lever can be pivoted to a locked position to prevent pivotal movement of the outer actuator. Pivotal movement of the inner actuator is not prevented by the locking lever. Thus, the disclosed door latch and lock assembly can be opened from inside the cab while remaining locked from outside the cab without requiring complex and bulky linkage assemblies.

Abstract: A vehicle door lock (106) and latch (104) assembly is provided whereby a key may be used to lock the door (100) and to prevent rotation of the outside door handle (108). A lock handle (116) is provided inside the vehicle door (100) for overriding the key lock (110) to permit the inside and outside handles (114,108) to operate to open the door. • Patent number: 4345449
Abstract: A lock employing a lock cylinder protected by an outer escutcheon and positioned coaxially with a lock control mechanism and an inner doorknob. An outer doorknob is supported by the outer escutcheon and mounted on an axis which is offset with respect to the axis of the lock cylinder and inner doorknob. A cam and pushrod arrangement is utilized to transfer rotation of the outer knob to the lock mechanism. The encasing of the lock cylinder within the outer escutcheon instead of the outer knob increases the security of the device by making it more difficult to tamper with the lock cylinder. In addition, slight modifications prevent the application of excess torque to the outer knob from releasing the lock mechanism.
