Abstract: A calculating member carries out Fourier analysis of a vibrational acceleration to calculate a maximum acceleration and frequency thereof. The calculating member then compares the maximum acceleration with a threshold value, and when the acceleration exceeds the threshold value, the calculating member calculates a k-value and phase information, and stores each calculated value. When retrying is selected, the calculating member determines a type of a current chatter vibration from the phase information, determines the existence of a chatter vibration which is different from the determined chatter vibration, and calculates each new phase information according to the determined chatter vibration and an existence of a different chatter vibration which had been generated before generation of the current vibration. The calculating member then calculates a k1-value from new phase information, calculates the optimum rotation speed by using the k1-value, and changes the rotation speed to the optimum rotation speed.

Abstract: A numerical controller capable of checking a learning control execution interval for the entry of a command or signal that varies an operation pattern. The numerical controller reads machining programs in succession and sets a flag F to 1 until a learning control end command is read after a learning control start command is read. In a learning control interval during which the flag F is set to 1, it is determined whether or not an inappropriate command or signal is inputted during a learning process such that the operation pattern is varied. If it is concluded that such a command or signal is inputted, an alarm stop or feed hold stop is performed, the cause of stopping is displayed, and learning control is nullified. If any inappropriate command or signal is inputted during the learning process, the operation is stopped and the cause is displayed, so that the machining programs can be corrected with ease. Thus, wrong cutting or the like can be prevented from being caused by the learning control.

Abstract: A method corrects thermal displacement of a machine tool having a rotational spindle. The method includes detecting a rotation speed of the spindle. A thermal displacement amount of the spindle in the current cycle of execution of a program is estimated by using an arithmetic expression that is based at least on the spindle rotation speed and a thermal displacement amount that has been estimated in the preceding cycle of execution of the program. The estimated thermal displacement amount in the current cycle is used as a correction amount for canceling the thermal displacement of the spindle. Therefore, thermal displacement of a machine tool is corrected with no complicated processes when a spindle rotation speed changes.

Abstract: There are provided a positioning control method and a positioning control device, which enables high speed positioning with low power consumption without repeating two or more acceleration and deceleration operations during travel from an original position to a target position. There is also provided an electronic component mounting apparatus, which enables high speed positioning with low power consumption and enables mounting of electronic components in a short period of time. When a movable body is moved from the original position to the target position, there is set an operational passing position for avoiding a passing avoidance region, and driving of a drive unit having a smaller travel distance from the original position to a coordinate of the operational passing position is started later than driving start timing of a drive unit having a longer travel distance, from the original position to another coordinate of the operational passing position, by a specified period of time.

  • Patent number: 6993410
Abstract: The present invention provides a device for determining the dynamics of a tool sited in a CNC machine, as encapsulated by the Frequency Response Function. The device uses an actively controlled electromagnet to excite forces on the tool. The force is excited in a non-contact manner, allowing the force to be applied to both a stationary and a rotating tool. The displacement is measured by standard means, such as accelerometers, optical displacement or capacitance sensors. The ratio of the force and the displacement in the frequency domain is the Frequency Response Function. The force may be applied as a pure sine wave, providing the Frequency Response Function at the frequency of the sine wave. Varying the frequency of the sine wave provides the Frequency Response Function over the range of frequencies of interest. The control of the force profile is handled entirely by the automated controls and requires no special skills, training or manual interaction by the user.

Abstract: A system (830) and method (800) for diagnosing a malfunctioning machine. A fault event is selected (806) together with sequential operating parameter data (808) from a selectively focused time interval about the fault event for evaluation of a machine (810). The selectively focused time interval may include data occurring just before, just after, or spanning the fault event. Characterizing information such as slope, rate of change, and absolute sign of the data may be derived (809) from the operating parameter data over the selectively focused time interval and used in the diagnosis. The fault event and operating parameter data may be compared to existing cases in a case database (834). Abstract: A numerical controlling unit includes: an inputting part into which a machining program is inputted; an analyzing part that analyzes the machining program to generate an instructed spindle rotational speed and calculates a spindle load ratio of a load applied to a spindle under a machining condition according to the machining program to a spindle load caused when the workpiece is machined: and a distributing part that generates, based on the machining program, a distribution amount per unit period inputted into a feed-axis servo driver. A spindle-rotational-amount-command outputting part receives the instructed spindle rotational speed and outputs a spindle-rotational-amount command for commanding a rotational amount per unit period which is inputted into a spindle driver. A cutting-load-for-judgment calculating part calculates a reference torque value based on the spindle load ratio, the distribution amount, and the spindle-rotational-amount command.

  • Patent number: 6819974
Abstract: Positioning errors of a numerically controlled machine and a fixture are related through a mathematical model to the statistical total error in the position of the machine tool, and maximum allowable amounts are assigned for each of the individual contributing factors to the total error. The relationship between the machine and fixture is checked by a probe mounted in the machine spindle. Functioning and alignment of the probe are checked with the probe. Global positioning accuracy of the machine is checked throughout a working envelope of the machine using a laser measuring instrument. A master coordinate system relative to the ways of the machine is created within the laser instrument by calculating a linear fit of machine position coordinates acquired as the machine is moved along each of two perpendicular axes of the machine, and the master coordinate system is used for the global accuracy and fixture accuracy checks.
