  • Patent number: 11590708
Abstract: The subject matter of this specification can be embodied in, among other things, a system that includes a three-dimensional fabricator. An image processing module acquires an image of a rock sample having a network of pores, a transformation module transforms the image into a binary matrix and determine a set of statistical moments of the binary matrix, a layer generation module generates a first representation of a first stochastic layer based on the set and emulative of the rock sample and generates a second representation of a second stochastic layer based on the set and emulative of the rock sample. An arrangement module arranges the first representation and the second representation as adjacent layers of a three-dimensional model emulative of the rock sample, and provides the first representation and the second representation to the 3D fabricator for fabrication as a physical three-dimensional fluid micromodel emulative of the rock sample.

  • Patent number: 11590703
Abstract: Apparatuses for dynamically sensing infrared (IR) radiation in an electron beam powder bed fusion (EB-PBF) printer are provided. A radiation collector receives radiation from a surface of the powder bed. An IR-transparent material rejects one or more non-IR wavelengths, and a lens focuses the IR radiation onto an optical fiber. The IR radiation is carried from the vacuum chamber of the printer to a sensor, where IR information is determined based on the received IR radiation. The IR information may be received from the sensor and used by the print controller to modify one or more parameters, such as beam intensity or scanning rate, on the fly or during the next print cycle. An occlusion member can be used to selectively block or expose the radiation collector to protect the radiation collector from condensation of vapor from vaporization of particles at high temperatures.

Abstract: A memory device can include three-dimensional memory entities each including a plurality of two-dimensional memory entities. A controller can read data from the memory at a first resolution and collect error rate information from the memory at a second resolution including a portion of a two-dimensional memory entity. The controller can determine a quantity of two-dimensional memory entities that have a greater error rate than a remainder of the two-dimensional memory entities based on the error rate information. The controller can determine a quantity of portions of three-dimensional memory entities that have a greater error rate than a remainder of the portions of three-dimensional memory entities based on the error rate information excluding error rate information for portions of the two-dimensional memory entities associated with the quantity of two-dimensional memory entities.

Abstract: A round baler may include a bale chamber having one or more bale forming apparatus which form a bale in the bale chamber. The round baler may include a size sensor which measures a plurality of dimensions of the bale as the bale increases in size from a partial bale to a completed bale. The round baler may include a force sensor which measures an ending weight of the completed bale. The round baler may include a location determining device which establishes a plurality of locations of the round baler corresponding to the plurality of dimensions of the bale. The round baler can determine a plurality of yields for the bale by correlating changes in the plurality of dimensions of the bale with the ending weight of the completed bale and generating a map by correlating the plurality of yields with the plurality of locations.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for incorporating an Internet of Things (IoT) service interface protocol layer in at least one node. The format of various IoT messages used to communicate over a service interface are also described. A set of IoT service level operations may be defined in the node. The IoT service level operations may be performed on IoT information elements (IEs). The IoT service level operations may be defined in terms of various actions that are generic and applicable across industry verticals. The operations may leverage each other as sub-operations, (e.g., collaborate, share, synchronize, discover, associate, collect, aggregate, concatenate, share, relocate, invoke, delegate or surrogate). The IoT IEs may include at least one of a content IoT IE, a context IoT IE, a policy IoT IE, a decision IoT IE, an event IoT IE, a discovery IoT IE or a descriptor IoT IE.

  • Patent number: 9985958
Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and systems described herein are for segmentation, handshaking, and access control solutions for Opendots technology. One embodiment described a charging pad that includes a plurality of conductive strips, switches, and decipher circuitry. A switch is coupled to the plurality of conductive strips whereas the decipher circuitry is coupled to the plurality of conductive strips and the switch. In response to contact with one conductive strip of the plurality of conductive strips, the decipher circuitry determines whether a security password has been received. The switch allows a voltage higher than a threshold voltage level to be supplied to an external device if the security password is received by the decipher circuitry. However, the switch can also prevent a voltage higher than a threshold voltage level to be supplied to an external device if the security password is not received by the decipher circuitry.

  • Patent number: 9869981
Abstract: A diagnostic device is physically coupled to a control device in a process control system, and includes an accelerometer that determines when a motion or vibration of the control device is greater than a predetermined threshold. When this condition is detected, one or more other components of the diagnostic device (e.g., processor, communication module, etc.) are activated, and a distress signal is transmitted from the diagnostic device using the activated components. Consequently, the duty cycles of components of the diagnostic device are decreased and optimized, leading to significant power savings. Indeed, in some embodiments, energy harvesting may be sufficient to power the diagnostic device. Further, in some embodiments, the diagnostic device may not require a component processor.
