  • Patent number: 10846445
Abstract: An example modeling process of pore pressure and injected waste distribution profile may include several steps. A hydrodynamic flow simulation model may be built according to the geometry and/or physical properties of the subsurface formation. A fluid distribution and pore pressure profile in the subsurface may be affected by the geometry and orientation of hydraulic fractures created as a result of drill cuttings subsurface injection (cuttings re-injection or CRI). A fracture profile may be generated using a hydraulic fracturing simulation and may then be embedded into the hydrodynamic simulation model. In some examples, the nature of injected fluids in the same formation and through the same well, fracture, and/or perforation interval may lead to modification of the subsurface formation properties, and this may be accounted for in the simulation.

Abstract: This disclosure is generally directed to 3D tolerance analysis. In one exemplary method, a combination of a variation analysis procedure and a finite element analysis (FEA) procedure is executed by a computer. The variation analysis procedure involves determining a first simulated force for effecting a mating between a first surface of a first part and a first surface of a second part. A first set of deformation parameters is determined by applying the first simulated force to the first surface of the first part. The FEA procedure involves determining a second simulated force for effecting the mating between the two surfaces based on one or more assembly loads. A second set of deformation parameters is determined by applying the second simulated force to the first surface of the first part. Abstract: A method for determining a stiffness of a tube bundle heat exchanger. The heat exchanger has a core tube and a plurality of coil tubes coiled around the core tube to form a tube bundle having a plurality of coil layers at a respective layer coiling angle. The method determines a geometric strength parameter for a coil layer, the strength parameter being an area ratio of a coil-tube cross-sectional area to a cell cross-sectional area resulting from the axial spacing of the coil tubes and an outer diameter of the coil tubes. The area ratio is corrected by a correction factor taking the orientation of the coil tubes of the coil layer in relation to the force of gravity acting on the coil tubes into consideration. The stiffness of the respective coil layer is determined from the corrected area ratio and a modulus of elasticity of the coil-tube material.
