Abstract: A system and method that allows a publisher to create a document series, associate a document with a document series and present to an end-user a series nugget displaying at least one document associated with the document series. Document series information may be inherited by each document in the document series. Document series information is stored in an asset database.

Abstract: A system (100) is provided for storing knowledge, information and data (KID). The system includes a plurality of sources of KID (20), at least one receiver of KID (30) from the plurality of sources, a universal knowledge, information and data store (UKIDS 160) and an interface (150) coupling the receiver and the UKIDS. The interface provides a plurality of logical partitions (200) for storing KID within the UKIDS. In one embodiment, a first level of the logical partitions segregates information into personal and professional KID. A plurality of second personal levels under the first personal level (210) segregates KID storage into a teams of people subset (212), an activities and organization subset (214) and an organization and administration subset (216). A plurality of second professional levels under said first professional level (220) segregates KID storage into a clients subset (230), an output subset (250), a teams subset (270) and an administration subset (290).

Abstract: Establishing relationships between one or more entities of a first application and one or more entities of a second application using metadata. At least one entity of the second application is identified for establishing a relationship with at least one entity of the first application. Metadata from the second application is received at the first application. The metadata includes information associated with the identified entity of the second application. An expression is generated, based on the metadata, specifying a relationship between the entity of the first application with the identified entity of the second application.

Abstract: A system for selecting, managing, sharing and displaying content data files in a manner that takes into account the contextual significance of said content data files to a narrative, an author(s) and an audience. A system that is able to place an absolute and relative value upon the significance of a media object is able to assist in stimulating the recollection of the author and audience, thus making every aspect more memorable and enhancing by improving the ease of use and the quality of the final result of the use of the system of this invention.

Abstract: A method for deriving data provenance information corresponding to a workflow process having lower-level workflow processes includes deriving internal provenance information for data pertaining to at least one of the lower-level workflow processes, identifying data objects that are shared between at least a pair of lower-level workflow processes to derive external provenance information for the identified data objects, in response to a user-submitted query, using the internal and external provenance information to retrieve the data provenance information for the workflow process, and outputting the derived data provenance to a user.

Abstract: A workflow application allows users to store, manage, and perform tasks related to workflows comprised of ordered sets of documents. The application provides an interface for creating and managing a workflow. Each document added to the workflow is assigned to a particular position in the workflow. Via the interface, the user saves data defining the workflow. In this manner, the workflow may be shared or preserved for subsequent re-use. The application allows a user to perform various tasks with respect to the workflow. Via an interface control presented by the application, the user instigates such tasks. In response, the application causes the task to be performed for each document in the workflow in an order corresponding to the arrangement of the documents within the workflow. For example, the application may render and print each document in the workflow. Or, the application may generate a combined workflow report.

Abstract: When a certain file is updated, a document management server determines whether a “registration state information mail” is set for that file, and after that, performs “self information mail” setting processing. Computer requests the document management server to transmit an electronic file, and prints and displays the electronic file according to an operation definition corresponding to the file format of the received electronic file. MFP inquires whether the document to be displayed is an electronic file stored in the document management server or an electronic file recorded on an external storage medium. Further, in response to an operation of a touch panel, MFP changes a magnifying power of display data, and rotates an image to change the direction by setting the central position of the rotation to a display center of an image being currently displayed.
