In one embodiment, a web browser automatically determines that a web site is publishing feeds and notifies the user, who can then access the feed easily. In another embodiment, a browser determines that a web page or feed is advertising relationship XML, and displays information about the people identified in the relationship XML. In yet another embodiment, a browser determines that a file contains a feed and enables the user to view it in a user-friendly way. In yet another embodiment, feed state information is stored in a repository that is accessible by applications that are used to view the feed. In yet another embodiment, if a feed's state changes, an application notifies the repository, and the state is updated. In yet another embodiment, a feed is parsed and stored in a structured way.

Abstract: A generic and expandable document aspect system and method for searching, browsing, presenting, and interacting with data assembled from document contents and related external data is provided. New varieties of document aspects are added to existing installations and can be accessed by users without requiring upgrades to server or clients, for example by using plug-in technology.

Abstract: The present invention can realize easy transition from a task managed by a To-Do list to a workflow. When an unprocessed task stored in the To-Do list database is converted by an instruction into the workflow in the client software, a document management system of the present invention extracts a workflow definition including an activity corresponding to an unprocessed task to be converted by the instruction and notifies a client software of the workflow definition. When the client software selects the workflow definition, server software creates an instance of the workflow corresponding to the selected workflow definition, and applies information about the task to be converted, to the activity corresponding to the task to be converted in the instance of the workflow.

Abstract: A system implementable using a programmable processor includes a plurality of pre-stored commands for building an inventory of audio, musical, works or audio/visual works, such as music videos. A plurality of works can be collected together in a list for purposes of establishing a play or a presentation sequence. The list can be visually displayed and edited. A plurality of lists can be stored for subsequent retrieval. A selected list can be retrieved and executed. Upon execution, the works of the list are presented sequentially either audibly or visually. The works can be read locally from a source, such as a CD, or can be obtained, via wireless transmission, from a remote inventory. If desired, establishment of a predetermined credit can be a pre-condition to being able to add items to the list for presentation.

Each field in the set of additional fields has a value derived from the first database or each field in the set of additional fields has a value derived from the second database. In this way, the activity can be implemented without knowledge of the different schemas of the first database and the second database.

Abstract: Interactive collaboration within a secure, server-based social networking community integrated with a secured document management system includes at least one of a plurality of professional functionalities and a plurality of integrative functionalities to members having a member virtual identity within the community. Members may assemble into a network of members that excludes at least one member of the community. Integrative functionalities include allowing networks of members to share documents in a remote secured environment and exclude access to documents from those not belonging to a particular network. Members may also access software applications to remotely create, delete, edit and manage documents and view information about documents in a plurality of customizable and selectable viewing options.

Abstract: Creation, association, and/or placement of search forums for searches strings enable users to discuss aspects of both searches and elements associated with the searches, and further enable the users to view discussions from other users. The search forum may be generated from variations of the search string. In addition or alternatively, search strings may be associated with existing item forums, category forums, and tag forums. Search forums may be placed with, for example, search results or with items, categories, and/or tags, among other possibilities, to provide user access to the search forums.

Abstract: A system and method for leveraging a collaborative document or information management system for improving searches for multiple users are provided, referred to as a collaborative search system. A search may be based on keywords within a document or supplemental information, such as data classification tags associated with the document. Searches may be performed on live data within a company as well as on backup or other secondary copies of data. The system may also maintain an index of all of the content available anywhere within the company. The collaborative search system provides an integrated collaborative search experience to collaborative participants, such that multiple users can participate in a search.

Abstract: A collaborative editing system defines operational transforms for transforming conflicting operations on styles of the text of the document. The operational transforms ensure that local copies of the document will be consistent when it is in a quiescent state. The operational transforms are defined so that most conflicts can be resolved based on analysis of a remote operation and a local operation only. Certain conflicts, however, cannot be resolved based solely on analysis of the local and remote operations themselves. Such a conflict is referred to as a “definite conflict.” The collaborative editing system resolves definite conflicts by designating one of the computer systems as a distinguished computer system and giving priority to its operation. When a definite conflict arises, then the local computer system and the remote computer system recognize the conflict and resolve the conflict in favor of the operation of the distinguished computer system.

Abstract: A system for automating the assembly, processing and delivery of documents includes a plurality of transport clients, a work queue, a scheduler, a plurality of rendering objects, a plurality of transport objects and a routing table. The transport clients are each responsible for acquisition of data necessary to generate the response. Once a work item is received from a transport client, it is added to the work queue. The scheduler manages the work queue including sending work items to an identified rendering object and thereafter to a transport client. Each of the rendering objects includes knowledge of the database as well as processes for extracting information from a database and applying rules on the extracted data. The scheduler assigns work items to be processed by the rendering objects, and once completed, the work items are returned to the scheduler for further processing by a transport object.

Abstract: Digital documents are handled in networked document processing system that includes user workstations, document processing devices and a control system. A document storage is used for storing and managing digital documents associated with a user of a workstation. The control system includes a document email server where each email item in the server is linked with a digital document in the control system document storage. A processor manages the digital documents and keeps the owner of a digital document informed on the status thereof by synchronizing with the document email server so as to dynamically reflect status changes in the digital document files in corresponding email items for the owner. The workstations include a respective email client provided with at least one email folder linked to a user account in the document email server.

In one embodiment, a first level of the logical partitions segregates information into personal and professional KID. A plurality of second personal levels under the first personal level segregates KID storage into a teams of people subset, an activities and organization subset and an organization and administration subset.

Abstract: The dynamic workflow documentation system is a computer implemented process comprising the following steps: The dynamic workflow documentation system starts a workflow manager program, a class loader program in a computer memory and creates an instance of a workflow program in the computer memory. Audit records are sent by the applications over a network to the audit management system. One or more operations are performed on the audit records within the audit management system. Abstract: A source code control architecture. A client user checks out a copy of a source code file to the client using a file checkout process. A client cache maintains a pristine copy of the file, and a client activity list maintains a list of commands executed during the offline mode to effect modifications to the copy. The client cache contains a pristine copy of all source code files that are modified or deleted in a local client workspace. The cache is maintained whether the user is online or offline. When the user is offline, the cache is utilized to facilitate many of the activities that historically would require server connectivity. The command activity list allows a developer to continue changing the source code while offline by automatically recording the executed commands. The offline commands are reconciled to the server, and used to update the server file(s) when the client returns online.

The first revision of the resource can be approved, but the first revision of the resource is not accessible to a consumer searching the resource repository until the first revision of the resource is approved. A second revision of the resource subsequent to the first revision of the resource is generated, but the second revision of the resource is not accessible to a consumer searching the resource repository until the second revision of the resource is approved. A searchable artifact in the resource repository is also generated for each revision of the resource in the resource repository.

Abstract: In an embodiment of the present invention, two or more metrics may be measured from the group consisting of: the user's age, the user's gender, the user's race, the user's geographic location, the user's annual income, the user's profession, types of areas of the search engine that the user frequents, types of searches that the user typically conducts, and the user's prior history (short and/or long-term) of clicking on advertisements. A propensity-to-click score may then be calculated for the user based on the two or more measured metrics. Then this score may be used to dynamically determine how to present advertising in response to a search by the user.

Efficiency-improving features allow several people involved in a business process, including those residing in different locations, to store and access documents in a central repository of a content management system. In addition, the business process becomes a virtual electronic environment without the need for redundant physical files spread throughout different offices.

Exemplary embodiments provide for the editing of information maintained in associated information units that may be distributed in parallel to a plurality of collaborative users. The information units may be distributed and retrieved with lightweight transport protocols. The information units obtained from multiple sources are automatically aligned and combined. Editing and display methods and systems further provide organizational and filtering tools. The information units may be redistributed and further collected in an iterative fashion.

In the computer system which includes the plurality of computing hosts and executes a job requested, in a case where the job is executed by the plurality of computing hosts, each computing host which executes the job is configured to: share a file necessary for executing the job; access the shared file to execute the requested job; and cancel the sharing of the file after execution of the requested job is completed.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for providing collaborative editing. An embodiment collaboratively edits a computer file using a plurality of computers in a network, where the computers are connected using a token ring, each of the computers has a local copy, and a first computer has edited its local copy and performs the method. A token circulating around the token ring is captured, and a location of the edited portion of the local copy of the file is determined. The location is broadcast to the other computers. Conflicts are received from the other computers, and the conflicts from the other computers are reconciled with the edited portion of the local copy of the file to provide reconciled edits to the file. The local copy of the file is updated with the reconciled edits. A data packet with the reconciled edits is created and transmitted around the token ring.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, system and computer program product for managing dynamic and persistent activity objects in an activity in an activity-centric computing (ACC) system. In an embodiment of the invention, the system can include an ACC system executing in a host server coupled both to a data store of activities and external sources of dynamic content over a computer communications network. The ACC system can be configured to manage an activity structure for an activity in the data store of activities in that the activity structure can include a hierarchical arrangement of activity objects representing underlying static content. The system also can include a dynamic activity module coupled to the ACC system. The module can include program code enabled to insert into the activity structure a dynamic activity object subscribing to one of the external sources of dynamic content to render corresponding dynamic content received from the one of the external sources.

Abstract: A distributed, high availability scalable task execution framework that does not use a master. Each server periodically checks if there are new jobs that are scheduled to execute immediately and picks a task for execution. Multiple batch server configurations can be created and executed during a specific time period where each server can behave differently to provide improved response time to online users. Each server can be configured to execute a different number of parallel tasks during a time period, execute fewer tasks or no batch task at all, and then change server behavior to execute many tasks in parallel at a different time when there are no online users. Automatic transaction assists in task restart in the case of infrastructure failures. If infrastructure failure happens before the task completes, the transaction will be rolled back by the database automatically.

Abstract: A notary document processing system and related methods are described. The system receives files uploaded by users, processes them by applying a document ID, time stamp, etc. to pages of the document, and converts them to a read only format for storage. Once the documents are processed and stored in the system, they cannot be changed by any user including the owner of the document. The system makes stored documents available to the owner or other users upon the owner's request or permission. The system also processes files generated from short messages inputted by users and annotated versions of existing documents. The system provides a way of preserving original versions of documents to be used later for purposes of evidencing the dates and contents of documents, evidencing agreement between parties as to the contents of documents, etc. Electronic notary, electronic signature, tamper watermarking, etc. functions are also provided.

The customer database stores: a customer name and/or staff name of corresponding customer; a business transaction of the customer; detail information representing business activities for achieving the business transaction, a completion scheduled date, and an actual completion date; information for determining whether each maturity stage has been attained; a check flag representing whether a maturity item has been attained, and a strategic scenario showing some plans for the business transaction toward the customer. Each of sales-staff terminal inputs the above data, stores the input data, and displays the detail information of the business activities in chronological order of the scheduled dates in the form of a list. The displayed data can be viewed from a manager terminal as well. An SCM server estimates the demand for products, based on the check flag stored in the customer database.

Abstract: Computer-implemented methods of processing contact records are provided. A user may merge and unmerge contact records to control which records are synchronized with each other. Identity claims of records may be compared to identify possible duplicate records. Identity claims may include addresses, phone numbers, instant messenger addresses or other contact data that is likely to be uniquely associated with a contact. When possible duplicate contact records are found, a dialog box is displayed that identifies the possible duplicate records and includes an option for merging the possible duplicate contact records.

Abstract: A system, method and computer program product are provided for scalable data collection. Input is received from users of client devices, utilizing agents. Further, records are formatted with a predetermined format representative of the input, utilizing the agents. In addition, a priority is dynamically assigned to the records according to a policy, utilizing the agents. At least one of a plurality of server devices is also identified based on a load balancing algorithm, utilizing the agents. Further, the records are transmitted from the client devices to the identified server device as a function of the priority. Upon receipt of the records, the records are processed utilizing a hierarchical architecture associated with the at least one server device.

Abstract: An Analysis Services server component that facilitates data mining using Analysis Services in a distributed environment is provided. The Analysis Services server component can be a component of a distributed Analysis Services system for distributed data mining. The distributed Analysis Services system can provide support for collaboration between multiple Analysis Services server components having similar models that can be shared for collaborative work. Data can be distributed to a plurality of Analysis Services server components so that multiple data mining models can be built on the server components based on certain parameters (e.g., number of servers to use, accuracy details etc. as algorithmic parameters). Based on that when a model is being processed, data can be shipped across multiple Analysis Services server components and multiple models can be built. During prediction these analysis services server components can collaborate between them to give the prediction results by different mechanisms.

Changed data from a first third-party application is received by a centralized application. The changed data is processed by the centralized application. The processing comprises determining an urgency type, a second third-party application to which at least a portion of the data is applicable, mapping the data to a second third-party application data structure, and generating a request including the data structure and based on the urgency type and the second third-party application. The request is sent to the second third-party application. Data in a database associated with the centralized application is updated based on the changed data.

Abstract: A Web services-oriented service provider middleware architecture and implementation is provided that integrates the performance monitoring of individual CPs, along with other dynamic contextual conditions, in the automatic selection of appropriate CPs. In the architecture, a CP's performance is evaluated not only in terms of network or service-level parameters, but also via other business processes (e.g., complaint handling). The selection of multiple Web services occurs through an initial filtering of a set of feasible workflows for each task depending on business agreements and end user needs, and a subsequent dynamic context-based selection of the most appropriate workflow. A workflow filtering and ranking engine uses metarules to guide the optimisation process and help in selecting and ranking the feasible workflows. The component services in the workflows are evaluated by evaluator processes of information sources. The workflow engine outputs the workflows in their preference ranking.
