Abstract: A computer system for document includes a SQL database for storing information related to the document review and a time-tracker portal for tracking time worked on the documents to be reviewed. A separate Document Management Application is provided for entering information into the database and a further User Interface is provided for managing the document review project. These combined applications are system agnostic and can be run on any operating system and on separate computers communicating over a network, e.g. the WWW. A key aspect of the system is the ability to track the time worked by document reviewers in near real-time, in contrast to previous hourly or quarter-hourly levels. The method of the present invention provides customized reporting and forecasting based upon numerous provided metrics or user-customizable metrics.

Abstract: An upgrade controller that compares the contents of a reference database with an upgraded database is described. In one embodiment, the upgrade controller connects to the reference and upgraded database and retrieves the list of tables. For each of the tables, the upgrade controller compares the content of the reference and the upgraded table. The upgrade controller compares the table contents by comparing the contents on a record-by-record basis. In addition, the upgrade controller can use a whitelist of tables and columns to reduce the number of false positive(s) that could be generated during the comparison.

Abstract: A novel system, method and computer program product for accessing digital media files stored in a media storage device via a server device in communication with the media storage device. There is provided a tool for allowing multiple non-linear editing systems to safely open up and work from and collaborate on the same “Project”. The tool manages ownership and permissions over different editors' contributions to shared Projects and implements “symbolic links” to create a virtual file and folder structure that creates an “optimized view” of the Project for each editor, that keeps work organized so that it is clear which editor is editing what and that allows each editor to maintain his/her own settings for the Project.

Abstract: A tag management system for a user of a client-side portal application providing access to a set of services that include provisions for collaborative tagging of content comprises one or more data repositories configured to maintain one or more separate sets of tags, a messaging intermediary configured to provide access to the one or more data repositories and to provide for communication with the set of services, and a client-side agent configured to communicate with the set of services and access the one or more data repositories through the message intermediary to act on instructions provided by the user in one or more user roles. A set of tags corresponds to each service in each user role and specifies an available vocabulary for tagging content at that service.

Abstract: A server for managing access to distributed storage comprising a plurality of storage devices includes a file service manager for receiving a request to store a file in the distributed storage and an allocation manager for selecting a cluster within the distributed storage to be used when storing the file. The allocation manager is configured to communicate with at least one other allocation manager in another server so as to determine which allocation manager selects the cluster to be used.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for enabling a user to create a document in a collaborative environment, the method comprising including a first user accessing an application for storing a document; the first user drafting a given part of a document which may comprise a plurality of additional parts on an interface displayed to the first user; selecting at least one other user which may add an additional part to the document and transmitting an invitation to the selected at least one other user, the invitation comprising including an object for performing at least one of visualizing a part of the document and adding an additional part to the document. At least one of the visualizing a part of the document and the adding of the additional part of the document may be done for a fee.

Abstract: Systems and methods for management, structuring, and access to a legal document database. A single database of documents is accessible by a number of access servers for providing access to these documents for users. The documents and their contents are tagged and classified for ease of reference. Documents and sections of documents are tagged against specific topics and concepts. The topics are presented to users in a structured manner and are cross-referenced against relevant and related topics. A user can thus quickly access not just the most relevant documents but the most relevant sections of those documents when researching a topic.

Abstract: A document management system allows designation of process owners, approvers, trainers and users of specified documents. The system automatically notifies designated participants of documents to be created, documents awaiting approval, training required, training schedules, and tests. Notifications of approved documents are automatically sent to designated users and trainers for scheduling and tracking user training. The system accommodates requests for document revisions and justifications and allows custom reports to be created and tracked. The system allows for the creation of custom tests that are linked to documents and graded automatically to be used as a final phase of training.

Methods include collecting a sequence of database commands directed to a single database record in a database. The sequence of database commands are reduced to a net result by combining database commands within the sequence of database commands. The net result is written to an output entity when the net result includes a database command.

Abstract: A system to design, create integrate and operate online communities uses web-based participation technologies. Any content can have attributes that make it appear as any type of content. With this uniform content architecture, all user-generated content is treated as a post (or, more generally, a submission), and there is no need for a participant to author multiple entries for separate uses. Preferably, content created or otherwise associated with a particular author is intrinsically tied to the author via the author's profile. At each point of participation, the content is associated with the individual, which allows the system to build and maintain a rich “living” profile for each community member. Using this approach, the system can build and enable querying of so-called “social aggregations,” which are data sets that describe a relationship among one or more author attributes and one or more content attributes.

Abstract: A system monitors each of multiple applications. For each application, a corresponding monitoring script sets forth procedures for monitoring the application. A script execution engine executes each script, and each executed script retrieves indicia to be monitored from the corresponding application. For each retrieved indicia, the script generates a corresponding record in a generic format employed across all applications, which includes a date and time the indicia was retrieved, a name of the application from which the indicia was retrieved, a name of the indicia, and a value for the retrieved indicia. A monitoring database stores the records generated by each script in the generic format. A generic monitoring console retrieves various records in the generic format from the monitoring database for various ones of the multiple applications and displays monitoring information for various ones of the multiple applications as generated from the various records.

Abstract: Techniques for enterprise data as office content are described. An apparatus may comprise a client device having an application program, an insertion component and an update component. The insertion component may be arranged to insert source data elements from a data source into a document for the application program. The update component may be arranged to update the inserted data elements as the source data elements are modified. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: A system and method providing a multi-party document revision capability. A master electronic document (MED) may be established on a central computer platform. The MED is embedded with an unalterable document identification code (DIC) which clearly identifies the single instance of the MED. Parties having permission to access, modify, and approve the MED on the central computer platform are each provided with a unique identifier code (UIC) which is associated with the DIC and, therefore, the MED. Any permitted party having an assigned UIC may access the MED and enter proposed changes to the MED on the central computer platform. However, each party associated with the MED has to approve any proposed change before the proposed change is automatically entered as a formally accepted change into the MED.

Abstract: A system and method for automatically detecting, reporting, and tracking conflicts in a change management system is provided. In particular, the system and method described herein may be used to identify potential conflicts associated with resources and schedules involved in a proposed change to an information technology infrastructure. A conflict analysis engine may analyze a change order that includes planned changes to an information technology infrastructure to identify potential conflicts associated with the change order that includes the planned changes to the information technology infrastructure. The potential conflicts may then be added to a conflicts list for the change order and a workflow may be created to manage resolving the potential conflicts. Thus, in response to resolving the potential conflicts, the planned changes may be deployed within the information technology infrastructure.

Abstract: Copied and source files are tracked so that authors of these documents can selectively update these files. Stale copied files can be eliminated. A control is provided to mediate copying of files among servers that have differing security policies. Metadata of a file being copied is downloaded from a server to the control and the control uploads the metadata of the file to one or more servers. A relationship between copied files and source files are memorialized whether or not copied files reside in different namespaces from the namespace of the source files.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to updating related documents. In some implementations, a method includes receiving a notification of an intention to update to a predecessor document in a business process prior to receiving a specific update to the predecessor document. In response to at least the potential-update notification, a successor document in the business process is identified. The successor document depends on information identified by the predecessor document. Release of the successor document is substantially prevented in connection with the notification of the intent to update to the predecessor document.

Abstract: A method and system for tracking and editing a resource in a real-time collaborative session is provided. A collaboration system provides real-time collaborative sessions between participants. When a participant in a collaboration session uploads a non-editable copy of a resource for viewing in the collaborative session, the collaboration system records the participant who uploaded the non-editable copy of the resource as the owner of an original copy of the resource and the location of the resource on that participant's machine. When the same or another participant attempts to edit the non-editable copy of the resource during the collaborative session, the collaboration system locates the original copy of the resource and starts the sharing of the resource in an editable form in the collaborative session.

Abstract: A system and method for processing data objects is provided. The system and method may comprise a user interface module, a fast data provider module, and a transaction provider module, which modules are configured to exchange data and which may be distributed over a plurality of interconnected servers. Data objects may be statelessly read from a database by the fast data provider module and, after an amendment of the data via the user interface module, statefully saved by the transaction provider module.

An internal services framework coupled with the centralized master repository provides a business process toolkit for managing models. The business process toolkit includes a model library comprising data models and one or more modeling services for modeling the system. The internal services framework also provides internal services for managing the core enterprise reference data, one or more of the internal services having direct access to the core enterprise reference data for management purposes. An infrastructure services layer coupled with the centralized master repository provides bulk data transfers of core enterprise reference data according to one or more enterprise-level business workflows, the external operational systems permitted indirect access to the core enterprise reference data for operational purposes.

The significance depending on the strategic importance of a document can be added to the document file. Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing security for a communities framework in a collaborative computing environment. A community can be provided for maintaining user membership during collaboration. The community can contain various collaboration resources, community services and members having access to the resources and services. A first layer of security can be implemented via membership and functional capabilities. Members can be assigned to various membership capabilities and these membership capabilities can be mapped to functional capabilities in order to control access to the resources by the various members. A second layer of security can be implemented via entitlements and security policies applied to the content repository. Entitlements can be applied at a node level of a content repository. Each node can be evaluated when operations are requested for it.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for analyzing user activity and for recording such user activity in an entity relationship model. A network is searched for materials associated with a user and content analysis techniques are performed on the associated materials to extract one or more characteristics from the associated materials based on predefined criteria. The extracted information is stored in an entity relationship model that relates the user to the extracted characteristics. The characteristics may include activity information, expertise information and location information. The entity relationship model can thereafter be searched to identify and optionally contact one or more users having desired characteristics.

The system also provides the capability of prearranging access levels according to functions of multiple users.

Abstract: A non-transitory computer readable medium and a method for enhancing a document with search results, the method may include: displaying to a user, within a first screen of a split-screen interface, at least a portion of a document while displaying, within a second screen of the split-screen interface, at least one search result obtained from searching information sources that differ from the document; receiving a request from a user to copy at least a portion of at least one search result to the document; incorporating the portion of the at least one search result to the at least portion of the document thereby providing an amended document; receiving from the user a request to edit the amended document; and editing the amended document in response to the request.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for triggering rich results in response to publication queries. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a publication query. One or more publication search results are obtained. A rich result is triggered based on a score of the first-ranked publication result if it meets a threshold relative to other publication search results. The rich result is populated with additional metadata about the publication obtained from web resources and product resources from multiple corpora. Abstract: Online documents services are provided by application servers for editing by users. Documents are stored in component based structures in an application server's local memory to provide granularity in coauthoring and conflict resolution. Component level locking is utilized to minimize simultaneous user edit based conflicts and also to show presence of other users. Component based structure revisions are stored to capture component edits and synchronize upon document save actions. When edits are saved by one or more clients to the server, they can be saved to the current version of the server document, even if that document has changed from the version used to create the current representation on the client.

Abstract: System and methods for the creation, organization, and retrieval of the categorized forms of communication between users and organizations based on relationships between projects. Any two users can establish a database link from one user's project database to another user's project database through an invitation and acceptance process. Once linked, a variety of communication types can be provided to the linked project databases, and each type of communication can have an associated set of workflow rules for managing how the communication is routed. The systems and methods disclosed herein can facilitate communications both inter-organizational and intra-organizational communications through the use of linked project databases.

This automation provides an automated process enabling non-experts to understand complex physiological data, and to organize presentation of complex data according to their needs so as to present conclusions as appropriate to the media instance.

Abstract: A method and system for automated coordination and organization of electronic communications in enterprises optimizes a communications network, intelligently streamlining communications and enabling workflow within enterprise applications. The system allows a user to use whatever authoring tool the user is already familiar with, such as email or word-processing, to immediately publish that communication, making use of re-usable content and templates and then automatically routing that information vie the best channel to the intended recipient. The recipient is able to direct the format and mode of the incoming communications as well, based on sender, role, type, and action requirement. The underlying engine for streamlining communications injects underlying metadata so that emails are easier to manage and automate. Finally, the system collects information about the overall system in order to improve communication flow.

Abstract: Activities within a workflow are either data management activities (DMAs) or non-DMAs. A workflow is typically carried out by a system by executing one activity after the other. This can, however, be very time consuming. A method and system are provided for optimizing a group of activities (GOA) comprising a DMA, whereby the GOA is comprised in the workflow to improve the overall performance. The method determines the DMAs, and for each DMA, a data level statement (DLS). The GOA is determined and a process graph model (PGM) is determined from the GOA so that the DLS is comprised in the PGM and the semantics of the PGM are identical to those of the GOA. The PGM is optimized for which an optimized GOA is determined. The semantics of the optimized GOA are identical to those of the GOA. In the workflow, the GOA is replaced by the optimized GOA.
