Abstract: A method for providing search results in response to a search query is provided. The method includes receiving the search query from a user and generating a plurality of results in response to the search query. The plurality of results may be ranked according to an original relevancy score. The method further includes generating a click relevancy score for each of the plurality of results and re-ranking the plurality of results according to the click relevancy score.

Abstract: This invention relates to problems arising from searching a large, online image data set. The invention improves the ability of customers to search across large catalogues using keywords when those keywords have not been specified in advance. This invention achieves this by taking diverse metadata, both structured and unstructured, from diverse sources and translating them into a highly structured system for presenting to users.

Abstract: An electronic dictionary searches for an entry word in dictionary data, and further conducts a search based on a keyword associated with image data. The electronic dictionary first searches for a keyword as described above, then extracts an image ID associated with the keyword found by the search, extracts an entry word associated in the dictionary data with the extracted image ID, and thereafter provides the entry word.

Abstract: Audio fingerprinting and other media matching technologies can be used to identify media, such as movies, television shows, and radio broadcasts. A user device can record image, audio, and/or video information and upload information to a matching service that is able to use matching technology to identify the media and provide supplemental content or information to the user. The user then can share this information with other users, such as by uploading to a social networking site or passing the information to peers on a peer network as part of a container. Users can have the ability to add tagged content, provide comments and ratings, and otherwise interact based at least in part upon the tagged media content.

The system (101) comprises a query composition unit (102) to compose a search query to identify a candidate data object being a candidate for the particular data object. Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a method of medical collaboration. Some embodiments include a server application receiving and storing an image via an uploading application. In some embodiments, the image can be stored in a database, and upon receiving a request to view the image from a plurality of client applications, the image can be transmitted to the plurality of client applications so that each of the client applications can display the image. Some embodiments can include displaying an application interface on each of the plurality of client applications substantially simultaneously with the image.

Abstract: Using a processor, receiving, a query including a query image. A database is searched for a set of images similar to the query image, using a two-pass search. The results of the searching are then provided, the results including image members of the set of images similar to the query image. The first pass may be performed using a TF-IDF algorithm and the second pass ranks a predetermined number of results from the first pass by a best match algorithm or other type of algorithm. The type of second pass algorithm may be selectable by a user. If an end signal is not detected, a further two-pass search may be made based on a subsequent query having a subsequent query image. The subsequent query image may one of the results of the previous two pass search. A subsequent query image may change from an image of a product of a first product category to an image of a product of a second product category.

The method further includes organizing the media items into groups. Each of the groups includes media items that have similar content. The similarity of the content is defined by the media items' associated metadata meeting a metadata matching threshold. The method further includes filtering the groups, sorting the groups of media items with respect to each other, sorting the media items within the groups, and displaying the groups of media items.

Abstract: A set of sensors can capture raw data that geospatially corresponds to a real world volumetric space. The raw data can include point cloud data encoded in a light detecting and ranging (LiDAR) information format, imagery and video data, and elevation data encoded in a digital elevation model (DEM) or digital surface model (DSM) format. The real-world volumetric space can be segmented into a set of volumetric units, wherein datum of the raw data is indexed against the volumetric units. Each of the volumetric units of the real-world volumetric space can be mapped to a voxel in a storage volumetric space of a voxel database. The raw data can then be stored and fused in the voxel database such that each voxel in the voxel database represents a combination of volumetrically stored data for all source products that includes providing point cloud data, imagery data, and elevation data.

Abstract: A method for compressing an initial dataset may be implemented on a data processing system. The method may include generating a group of bootstrap samples of wavelet coefficients from the initial dataset using a wavelet basis function. An average quantile of the group of bootstrap samples of wavelet coefficients may be determined. The group of wavelet coefficients may be compressed by deleting initial wavelet coefficients having magnitudes less than the coefficient cutoff value equal to the average quantile. The compressed group of wavelet coefficients and the wavelet basis function may be used to approximate the initial dataset.

Abstract: A system and method for assisting a user in navigation of an image dataset are disclosed. The method includes receiving a user's text query, retrieving images responsive to the query from an image dataset, providing for receiving the user's selection of a first feature selected from a set of available first features via a graphical user interface, providing for receiving the user's selection of a second feature selected from a set of available second features different from the first features via the graphical user interface, and displaying at least some of the retrieved images on the graphical user interface. The displayed images are arranged, e.g., grouped, according to levels and/or combinations of levels of the user-selected first and second features.

Abstract: A virtual image (VI) device displays an image that appears to lie above or below the plane of the device. A method of manufacturing a VI display device includes calculating an initial VI flux pattern based on an object and then fabricating a substrate having a VI array pattern based on the initial VI flux pattern. A plurality of lenses may then be applied over the VI array pattern. The VI substrate may be static or dynamic, and may show grey scale information. A photomask may be used as an intermediate element in the manufacture of the VI substrate, or may act as the VI substrate itself. A method of producing the initial VI flux pattern includes virtually tracing rays generated by different points of the object to an image plane and ii) summing the rays from the different points. The rays may be traced through a lens array.

Abstract: A content-based re-ranking (CBR) process may be performed on query results based on a selected keyword that is extracted from previous query results, and thereby increase a relevancy of search results. A search engine may perform the CBR process using a target image that is selected from a plurality of image search results, the CBR to identify re-ranked image search results. Keywords may be extracted from the re-ranked image search results. A portion of the keywords may be outputted as suggested keywords and made selectable by a user. Finally, a refined CBR process may be performed based on the target image and a received selection a suggested keyword, the refined CBR to output the refined image search results.

Abstract: A method for providing documentation and/or annotation capabilities for volumetric data may include receiving an indication of user insertion of an annotation with respect to a particular presentation state of a planar view of volumetric data and generating a medical image such as a DICOM image corresponding to the particular presentation state and including the annotation in response to receipt of the indication. In an embodiment, the generated marker may be placed in a location within the contextual environment, and the user's processing system may send a visual data stream of the camera-captured environment to a server. In an embodiment, the user's processing device may receive a modified data stream including an image of the item, and the user's processing device may display the item image in the same location as the marker.

Abstract: A data processing system includes a file system manager that organizes content into albums using a tagging technique. The file system manager comprises a filename utility that sets a unique filename for each file of uploaded files across a plurality of albums and an album manager utility that manages an album according to a list of tags. The tags include unique content file references and content metadata, whereby a file instance in a cross-section of the tags is included in multiple albums.

Abstract: In one or more embodiments, a tag is provided and includes a property that associates a strongly typed variable with the tag. Strongly typed variables can include any suitable types. For example, in at least some embodiments, the strongly typed variable is a people type that allows the tag to be associated with an individual person or group of people by virtue of a unique identification that is associated with the person or group. Strongly typed tags can then serve as a foundation upon which various other types of information and services can be provided to enhance the user experience.

Abstract: A system and method for analyzing and retrieving images of breast tissue abnormalities obtained from multiple sources. Providing a tool for a radiologist that includes a convenient region-of-interest association of mammogram, or other anatomical images, of an individual patient. One embodiment provides an efficient collection of all of the mammogram abnormalities for a patient. In yet another embodiment, the region-of-interest abnormalities in a single location in a patient's tissue are correlated across a variety of imaging modalities including X-rays, mammogram, CT, ultrasound, MRI, or other imaging technologies.

The URL is stored unless the URL has at a reference to an advertisement or an extension that matches any of a list of extensions specified for storage exclusion. The stored URL is categorized based on either the stored URL or an included domain name, depending on whether the included domain name matches any of the list of domain names that are associated with multiple categories. A count is incremented in a web log category associated with the identified device based on the categorized stored URL.

Abstract: An online index building operation is disclosed for building an index from source data with minimal loss of availability to the source data. The source data can be maintained in a relational database system, such as in a tablespace of a DB2® environment. The disclosed operation creates a consistent image of the source data as of a point-in-time and creates an index from the consistent image. Then, the disclosed operation repeats the acts of making the image consistent as of a subsequent point-in-time and updating the index to reflect the subsequent consistent image until substantially caught up with the current changes to the source data. If not caught up, the disclosed operation continues unless it is falling behind at which point the operation terminates. If it is caught up, the disclosed operation locks access to the source data, updates the image to reflect any final changes, updates the index, and allows access to the index.

The system captures an exit image of the employee at clock-out. The employee's exit image and the time and date data is available for viewing.

Abstract: The concept-structured image search technique described herein pertains to a technique for enabling a user to indicate their semantic intention and then retrieve and rank images from a database or other image set according to this intention. The concept-structured image search technique described herein includes a new interface for image search. With this interface, a user can freely type several key textual words in arbitrary positions on a blank image, and also describe a region for each keyword that indicates its influence scope, which is called concept structure herein. The concept-structured image search technique will return and rank images that are in accordance with the concept structure indicated by the user. One embodiment of the technique can be used to create a synthesized image without actually using the synthesized image to perform a search of an image set.

Abstract: A digital pathology system has a central workflow server hosting digital pathology application services and supporting one or more pathology workstations. The digital pathology system may include one or more image servers, providing digital images of sample specimen slides that are associated with medical cases. Residing at and executing on each pathology workstation is a digital pathology application client, which is the counterpart of digital pathology application services at the central workflow server. The combination of digital pathology application services at the central workflow server and digital pathology application client at each pathology workstation support a pathology workflow software module and a slide viewer software module. The present disclosure also describes a method of operation and/or use of the digital pathology system.

A computer system executes a method that generates three-dimensional representations or two-dimensional representations for a set of objects in response to a user interaction with an interface that displays the three-dimensional representations or the two-dimensional representations. The interface includes filter controls, sorting controls, and classification controls, which are dynamically altered based on the content of a user query or the attributes of the objects in the three-dimensional representations or two-dimensional representations.

Abstract: A method of querying image output devices on a network, including receiving a search term indicating device-related information to be searched. The method includes first determining whether the search term includes a target device type, and if the first determining step determines that the search term includes the target device type, determining which devices in a list of all devices on the network are of the target device type to generate a device list. Otherwise the device list is set to be the list of all devices on the network. The method further includes second determining if the search term includes a conditional expression, and if the second determining step determines that the search term includes a conditional expression, determining which devices in the device list satisfy the conditional expression, so as to generate a final list of devices. The final list of devices is displayed.

Abstract: A method and a computer program product for identifying the domains, selecting for each domain one domain-specific search engine and data source to be involved, generating the domain-specific subqueries for each selected search engine, defining a strategy for sending requests to each search engine and data source, and receiving, merging and ranking results. The result of the multi-domain query is a list of combinations, where every combination consists of a tuple of data, each relative to one of the domains of the query; such data is present in the results returned either by search engines or by data sources. The method provides the combinations having the highest combination score, as computed by a monotone aggregation function over the combinations.

Abstract: This invention provides an instantaneous method for a user or traveler to obtain a meaning of a symbol that is unfamiliar to said user. The symbol is captured in a format that is easily transmitted to a remote database server. Together with the symbol, the GPS coordinates of the location of the symbol must be sent to the server. The server performs an image matching search, and then uses the location information (GPS) to resolve multiple matches and to determine the meaning of the symbol and instantaneously transmits in the language of their choice the meaning to the user requesting the search.

Abstract: A search engine determines a set of other images that are similar to a user-selected image, and presents those other images to the user. In determining whether two images are sufficiently similar to each other to merit presentation of one, the search engine determines a Euclidean distance between separate feature vectors that are associated with each of the images. Each such vector indicates diverse types of information that is known about the associated image. The types of information included within such a vector may include attributes that reflect visual characteristics that are visible in an image, verbal tags that have been associated with the image users in a community of users, concepts derived from those tags, coordinates that reflect a geographic location at which a camera that produced the image was when the camera produced the image, and concepts related to groups with which the image is associated.

Abstract: A computer system coupled to a digital image database with images having image attributes. The image attributes are automatically evaluated in order to find a compatible digital template from a digital template database. The templates each include a plurality of windows for displaying the digital images and each of the template include template attributes to automatically select a template whose attributes are compatible with at least one of the image attribute. The data base of digital images is also automatically searched for additional images having an attribute compatible with the template attributes and with the first one of the image attributes. A display screen coupled to the computer system displays the selected template and at least one other image.

Abstract: Methods and architecture systems for controlling vehicle systems are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of remotely controlling a vehicle includes estimating a position of the vehicle. A position estimation algorithm may estimate the position of the vehicle. A position data packet received from the vehicle may be used to update the estimated position of the vehicle. A display device may display a virtual representation of the vehicle based on the updated estimated position of the vehicle. Command signals may be transmitted to the vehicle based on the displayed virtual representation of the vehicle.
