Abstract: In a searching apparatus: a first receiving unit receives a search request from a client; based on the search request, a first generating unit generates a distributed search request to request a server to conduct a search and an integration request to integrate search results of the distributed search request; a first transmitting unit transmits the distributed search request to the server; a second transmitting unit transmits identification information of an execution result of the integration request to the client; a second receiving unit receives, from the client, an obtainment request to obtain the execution result identified by the identification information; a receiving unit receives the search results of the distributed search request from the server; an executing unit executes the integration request on the received search results; and a third transmitting unit transmits the execution result of the integration request to the client that transmitted the obtainment request.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems, apparatus, methods, and computer readable media for performing actions in response to information updates provided in an information feed. In one implementation, an information update to be displayed in an information feed may be received. The information feed may be capable of being displayed on a display device. The information update may be associated with a data object. A determination may be made as to whether the information update includes a designated keyword, the keyword being designated in association with a first user account. When the information update includes the designated keyword, a data value may be set to an indication that the first user account is following the data object such that updates related to the data object are capable of being stored as feed items in a feed table.

Abstract: A method for updating web pages on a web server without republishing the web pages involves providing a live version on a production database and a quality assurance version on a quality assurance web server. A maker at a business workstation can access the quality assurance database server and enter a change to data on the quality assurance version of the business data tables, and a checker at the business workstation accesses the quality assurance database server to review and approve or reject changes to the data on the quality assurance version of the business data tables, and if the checker approves the changes, the changes to the data on the quality assurance version of the business data tables are replicated from the quality assurance database server to the live version on the production database server.

Abstract: Systems and methods dynamically form a context group that has a plurality of members and propagate payload data between the members. A database associates a context identifier (ID) of the context group with a user ID of each member. A context manager, communicatively coupled with the database, receives a join context request containing the context ID and a user ID from each said member, creates the context group, if not existing, within the database in response to the join request, and adds the user ID, if not existing, of each said member to the database in association with the context ID. A payload handler receives payload data from one of said members and propagates the payload data to other said members of the context group.

Abstract: System and methods for the creation, organization, and retrieval of the categorized forms of communication between users and organizations based on relationships between projects. Any two users can establish a database link from one user's project database to another user's project database through an invitation and acceptance process. Once linked, a variety of communication types can be provided to the linked project databases, and each type of communication can have an associated set of workflow rules for managing how the communication is routed. The systems and methods disclosed herein can facilitate communications both inter-organizational and intra-organizational communications through the use of linked project databases.

Abstract: A publishing engine captures capturing commercial events and other information (collectively, “commercial information”) associated with a first user and automatically notifies other users in the social network of the first user of this commercial information. The publishing engine also notifies one or more search engines of these events and information. Based on this commercial information, the search engine can augment search results of the members of the social network to include historical notifications relating to commercial transactions for similar products and/or services by others in their social network. In this manner, for example, the search engine can provide results directing the searcher to other users in their social network who have purchased such products and/or services.

Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, an apparatus having a processor adapted to receive a message from a portable communication device communicatively coupled to a set-top box presenting a media program and to retrieve from the message a media descriptor associated with the media program. The processor is further adapted to identify according to the media descriptor one or more images of one or more performers commonly presented in the media program, to monitor one or more frames of a live media feed including the media program, and compare the one or more human figures to the one or more images of performers. The processor can also be adapted to recognize a performer from the comparison, to retrieve information associated with the performer, and to transmit the information to the portable communication device. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: Textual information may be harvested from photos that are associated with a geographic location, and the text may be used to respond to searches. In one example, photos are taken from a vehicle that has a camera and a GPS receiver. Each of the photos is marked with the geographic location at which it was taken, and text is extracted from the photos. Thus, each piece of text is associated with a particular geographic location, and the association between text and location is stored in a database. At some point in time, a query is received from a user, where the query specifies or implies a geographic criterion. The database is then examined to determine what items in the database meet the textual and geographic constraints of the query, and those pieces of information may be provided as search results.

Abstract: Techniques for rating and committing events in an event processing system are provided. Events can be rated at a rating system according to information that is stored locally on the rating system. Rated events can be stored in a database system with these rated events being utilized to, among other things, restore information that is stored locally on the rating system.

Abstract: In the context of tracking systems, it is difficult to ensure that an organization has a complete, accurate database of contacts stored in its tracking system. When tracking systems users are required to manage exporting and importing of contacts from their desktop mail clients and handheld devices, it is almost certain that contact information will not be kept up-to-date and that confidence in the accuracy of the contact information will not be high. By enabling a remote directory access portal in the tracking system, all users can be assured that they have available the latest contact information for the organizations' contacts. In addition to providing directory access, the tracking system can authenticate users and, based on the users' entitlements, authorize users' access to specific contacts.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described which facilitate content management in a network environment. Content types can be modeled by end users based on data usage and automatically generated by a content management system based on a user-defined data model. From these content types, content type objects may be generated. The data may then be examined to acquire a key set, and a content instance object generated for each datum found which matches a content type. This content instance object can then be associated with the datum using one or more key values, saved, and subsequently used to manage the data. These methods and systems allow data to be migrated to a content management system without any modification to the existing data repository or its associated structures.

Abstract: A client device may be managed in the event of, for example, device loss or mislocation. In such a case, a user can effectively cause a restriction command to be generated, where the restriction command is wirelessly transmitted to the client device. The restriction command can be specified to either lock user data on the client device or erase user data on the client device.

Abstract: A commuter groups service (CGS) allows commuters to join commuter groups so that they are able to socialize while commuting. Through the commuter groups, the users may share commuting routes, traffic updates, road conditions, and other information. Group members may arrange car pools, short term riding arrangements, and may anonymously or directly contact each other. The CGS may collect group member position information, e.g. GPS information, to enable the CGS to calculate traffic conditions and to select location specific information for group members. The system may include an on-line service accessible through a computer or wireless networking device. The user may log into the CGS, create or modify a user profile, and join groups of their choosing. Groups may be associated with specific events or with getting to/from work. Commuter groups may be formed for commuters that use private vehicles and/or public transportation.

Abstract: Electronic supervision may be provided. First, a stock number may be sent to a database server. The stock number may correspond to a product comprising, for example, an electrical cable. In response to sending the database server the stock number, specification information corresponding to the product may be received from a database stored on the database server. The specification information may comprise, for an electrical cable, a number of wires, a weight per thousand feet, and a diameter. Next, product production may be monitored to determine faults occurring during production. Monitoring the production may comprise displaying a data monitoring screen to production personnel. The data monitoring screen may provide data regarding the product and product comparison against a standard maintained within the database for the product. Fault data corresponding to the determined faults occurring during the production may be saved to the database.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention relate to a multi-function handheld user device that may have multiple selectable modes of operation for different areas of the user's life, each mode with its own database, applications, preferences, operational restrictions, and access limitations. Various mechanisms may be provided for switching between modes. Within each mode, context awareness and situational awareness may be used to obtain additional information or perform additional functions not directly requested by the user.

Abstract: An ACL, a setting table, and backup data are used to create an inter-base data sharing file system at a base permitted to share data. This enables data to be shared by bases. In a process for restoring backup data, with reference to the ACL and the setting table, a data management computer system determines whether or not each restore destination base is permitted to share data, and executes a restore process only on restore destination bases permitted to share data.

Abstract: A fixed prefix peer to peer network has a number of physical nodes. The nodes are logically divided into a number of storage slots. Blocks of data are erasure coded into original and redundant data fragments and the resultant fragments of data are stored in slots on separate physical nodes such that no physical node has more than one original and/or redundant fragment. The storage locations of all of the fragments are organized into a logical virtual node (e.g., a supernode). Thus, the supernode and the original block of data can be recovered even if some of the physical nodes are lost.

Abstract: Distributed and local processes analyze usage data and transform it into objects including timestamps and dimensions. Objects include a position vector to represent dimension analysis and additional attributes associated with measurements of different types. The objects are stored in a multidimensional database indexed on the vector and timestamp attributes.

Abstract: System(s) and method(s) provide access management to femto cell service through access control list(s) (e.g., white list(s), or black list(s)). White list(s) includes a set of subscriber station(s) identifier numbers, codes, or tokens, and also can include additional fields for femto cell access management based on desired complexity. White list(s) can have associated white list profile(s) therewith to establish logic of femto coverage access based on the white list(s). A mechanism for reciprocal addition of access field attributes in access control lists and white list profiles also is provided. The mechanism allows at least in part for a first subscriber to be added to a configured white list of a second subscriber, when the first subscriber configures a new white list, the second subscriber is reciprocally incorporated in the new white list. Such mechanism can be driven and facilitates generation of associations among groups of subscribers that share specific commonalities.

Abstract: An object-oriented system provides a comprehensive and integrated tool to manage, operate, analyze and inspect structures by providing 3-D visualization of the structures, a database interface, connectivity with one or more databases, a data display and analysis capabilities. The structural model is stored as an object-oriented, serialized file as a series of objects, including primitives, coordinates, object names, group names and other object identifiers. The system integrates various types of data, including tabulated textual data, annotated engineering drawings, photographic records, graphical plots, audio and videotaped records, from different tables and databases. Data are displayed to the user based on queries that the user submits to the system, which queries are evaluated at run-time. As a result, the user achieves unparalleled flexibility in data analysis and evaluation.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus facilitate social and business networking in a multi-tenant database. An application can provide each user with the ability view targeted data of interest. The data of interest can be supplied in a feed associated with the user created list, which compiles the feed items, e.g., comments, posts, stories, etc., of the object feeds subscribed to by the list. Lists can include entity feeds of objects, on the database well as child records associated with those objects. Accordingly, a user can create tailored feeds and can organize related information into feed for that list. In further embodiments, applications are provided which allow users are able to view filtered selections of other users and objects on the database system.

Abstract: The present invention relates to communication technologies, and discloses a device capability invocation method, a widget device, and a server. The device capability invocation method includes: receiving a device capability invocation request sent by a widget, where the device capability invocation request carries conditions of a device capability that needs to be invoked; search a device capability database for the device capability compliant with the conditions; invoking the found device capability; receiving an invocation result that is returned after the found device capability is invoked; and sending the invocation result to the widget. The technical solutions provided by the embodiments of the present invention enables a widget device to invoke device capabilities of all devices in the system.

Abstract: Data entities in a client-server system are accessed. The client-server system comprises a set of clients, a server system, and a repository for storing a plurality of data entities. The server system comprises an inter-transactional cache, the inter-transactional cache being accessible for each client of the set of clients. A first client of the set of clients comprises a first intra-transactional cache. If a copy of a first data entity is in the inter-transactional cache, a version identifier of the original first data entity is read from the repository. If the copy of the first data entity is to be accessed with an exclusive lock, a copy of the copy of the first data entity is added to the first intra-transactional cache. The copy of the copy of the first data entity in the first intra-transactional cache is accessed for further processing of the first data entity by the first client.

Abstract: Techniques are provided which include obtaining, from a user, a query for review or purchase information from users in a social network of the user, relating to a product, service or brand that, for example, the use ay be considering or intending to purchase. Based at least in part on the query, review or purchase information is obtained from multiple users in a social network of the user, relating to the duct, service or brand, and this information is used in formulating a reply to the user. Collected information may also be used in advertising targeted to the user.

Abstract: A method of extracting knowledge comprising: initiating a search application; displaying a user search interface; receiving input parameters via the search interface; identifying a query type based on received input parameters; formulating a database query based on the received input parameters; transmitting the database query to a database, the database being in communication with a file archive indexer for indexing a file archive for storing files and data regarding the files; obtaining database query results from the database, the database storing the user activity data and actual content accessed by the user; providing database query results to a result analyzer module; and displaying search result analyzer module results to a user.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for generating geocoded user information is disclosed. The method comprises searching user data across multiple different data corpuses for entries having location-related information and determining locations for the location-related information. The method further comprises generating a map showing a current location of a mobile device along with representations of the entries having location-related information, at the determined locations, for entries from the multiple different data corpuses.

Abstract: Data entities in a client-server system are accessed. The client-server system comprises a set of clients, a server system, and a repository for storing a plurality of data entities. The server system comprises an inter-transactional cache, the inter-transactional cache being accessible for each client of the set of clients. A first client of the set of clients comprises a first intra-transactional cache. If a copy of a first data entity is in the inter-transactional cache, a version identifier of the original first data entity is read from the repository. If the copy of the first data entity is to be accessed with an exclusive lock, a copy of the copy of the first data entity is added to the first intra-transactional cache. The copy of the copy of the first data entity in the first intra-transactional cache is accessed for further processing of the first data entity by the first client.

Abstract: A system and method for locating a data entry in a server cluster using a hash function and hash codes that can be implemented on any platform, system, or in any language. In one embodiment, a client hashes a key corresponding to a data entry to be accessed from the server cluster. The hashing is performed with a hash function that is used by a cluster of servers to provide a distributed data repository. The client further compares the hash result with hash codes of the servers to identify one of the servers as a key holder that stores the data entry. The client then requests the key holder for access to the data entry.

Abstract: A computer implemented method of developing computer applications, the method comprising providing to multiple users access, over a network, to information on a data center, with a subgroup of the users having access to a sub-portion of the information that is different from the sub-portion accessible by the remaining tenants of the subgroup; and communicating with the data center over the network employing a computer system associated with a user of the sub-group to establish application functionality with the sub-portion that may be accessed, over the network, by additional parties authorized by the user. Also disclosed is a machine-readable medium and a data center, both of which facilitate carrying-out the steps of the method.

Abstract: A client node on which a file system is mounted can be configured to efficiently handle content access requests after a snapshot is created. The client node can maintain generation numbers at a data block, a file, and a fileset level to determine whether a data block is part of a snapshot generation and consequently whether the data block is writable in a current generation. Data block mappings and write access permissions associated with the data blocks need not be revoked at the client node prior to creating the snapshot. Cached data block mappings can be accessed to identify data blocks for servicing a read request. The data block can be updated in place if the data block is not part of the snapshot generation. The write request can be serviced at a new data block if the data block is part of the snapshot generation.

Abstract: One or more servers perform functions that include: maintaining a database including information relating to facilities that are subject to a first entity, the facilities being dispersed geographically, the information including geographic locations for at least some of the facilities; receiving a first message from a facility for which information is in the database, the first message identifying a fixture of the facility that requires attention, where information in the database for the facility identifies the fixture by at least one of a designation of the fixture and a characteristic of the fixture; sending a second message to a second entity that has contracted with the first entity to provide service within a geographic location of the facility; and enabling the second entity to access the database to identify the fixture.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for selecting invitational content for users based on their short-term and their long-term features. In operation, responsive to a request from a user terminal for a content package a journal of events associated with a user. Thereafter, short-term and long-term features in the journal are identified and tagged with pre-defined tags indicating a type of content associated with the patterns. The tags are then used to select invitational content by selecting content based on tags for the identified short-term features associated with a threshold level of activity or tags for the identified long-term features.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a hardware accelerator that assists a host database system in processing its queries. The hardware accelerator comprises special purpose processing elements that are capable of receiving database query/operation tasks in the form of machine code database instructions, execute them in hardware without software, and return the query/operation result back to the host system.

Abstract: A database management system implemented in a cloud computing environment. Operational nodes are assigned as controller-nodes, compute-nodes or storage-nodes. The number of operational nodes, and their assignment as compute-nodes or storage-nodes can vary. Queries specify tables, with each such table assigned to a respective group of storage nodes. The number of operational nodes executing a given query may change by (a) changing the compute-nodegroup associated with a connection, or (b) adding or removing nodes from the compute-nodegroup; and/or distributing data from the tables among the nodes in a storage nodegroup. State information is maintained for each client connection, such that steps are executed assuming that the state exists.

Abstract: Techniques for accessing remote files are presented. A local user, via a local client, requests access to a file. A local file system determines that the file is associated with a junction. The junction is resolved and an associated remote file system is contacted by the local file system to acquire results for the request. The local file system then delivers the results to the local user via the local client.

Abstract: A method for dynamic management of one or more cloud database nodes is provided. The method enables gathering information related to usage of one or more cloud database nodes. The method further enables comparing time required by the one or more cloud database nodes for responding to one or more requests with a predetermined threshold. Furthermore, the method enables provisioning one or more new cloud database nodes or removing one or more new cloud database nodes based on at least one of: the gathered information, the comparison and a combination thereof.

Abstract: Systems and methods for balancing electronic mailboxes among databases communicatively coupled to an information handling system are disclosed. A method may include comparing an actual utilization values for a first database to a threshold utilization value for the first database and, depending upon the results, identifying the first database as over-utilized. The method may also include comparing an actual utilization values for a second database to a threshold utilization value for the second database and, depending upon the results, identifying the second database as under-utilized. The method may further include comparing a threshold usage value of a first electronic mailbox stored in the first database to an upper threshold usage value for the first electronic mailbox and, depending upon the results, identifying the first electronic mailbox as heavily-utilized. The method may also include moving the heavily-utilized electronic mailbox to the second database.

Abstract: A method for websites to be transformed and repurposed into other forms of design, use, and functions for other purposes, to benefit the original websites, website purposes, and owners of websites. A user would first speak or type into a computer. The GUI is a website campaign manager located on/at a website URL. A user creates a campaign and submits their website URL. The system then information form the website or uses that entered by a user. A data processor module, running on a computer or equivalent machine, assembles the extracted information. The system provides a language selection option where the final product can be created using one or more languages and then published, publically or privately, printed, and submitted for creation. A website campaign or advertisement is created along with a complementary website search software application, which can later be edited.

Abstract: Provided are a system and article of manufacture for performing scheduled backups of a backup node associated with a plurality of agent nodes. Backup data sets on at least one machine in a network are associated with a backup node and a plurality of agent nodes in the network are associated with the backup node. The agent nodes are associated with machines in the network capable of backing up the backup data sets associated with the backup node. A schedule indicating a scheduled backup to backup scheduled data sets associated with the backup node is processed. At least one of the agent nodes is contacted to request the at least one agent node to perform the scheduled backup and backup the scheduled data sets, wherein the at least one contacted agent node performs the scheduled backup to backup the scheduled backup sets.

Abstract: A database management system implemented in a cloud computing environment. Operational nodes are assigned as groups of controller-nodes, compute-nodes or storage-nodes. Assignments as compute-nodes or storage-nodes vary during execution of queries. Queries specify tables for an associated database operation, and respective storage nodegroup(s). The number of nodes executing a query may change by (a) changing a compute-nodegroup, or (b) adding or removing nodes from a compute nodegroup; and/or distributing data to the storage nodegroup based on a Distribution Method which may be specified by a Distribution Vector (DV) that determines at least where each row is stored.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method is provided for managing a plurality of data objects including dimensional attributes. The method includes receiving a plurality of data objects including dimensional attributes and assigning each of a plurality of nodes to one or more of a plurality of keyspace positions of a keyspace, wherein the plurality of nodes define partitions of the keyspace. A space filling curve is applied to the dimensional attributes of each of the plurality of data objects to generate a plurality of key values which correspond to the plurality of keyspace positions, and each of the plurality of data objects is transmitted to one or more of the plurality of nodes assigned to a keyspace position corresponding to the key value of the respective data object. A system for managing a plurality of data objects including dimensional attributes is further provided.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for managing content, such as content captured by a mobile device, are provided. The apparatus and method include receiving a plurality of content, which includes tag information, e.g., date and location information and an identifier for the mobile device. In addition, the apparatus and methods may include automatically grouping the content based on the tag information, and automatically labeling the content based on the tag information. For example, determined groupings of the content may be placed into folders and labeled based upon the tag information.

Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for allowing users with access to the internet and a computer the ability to post any items they would like to offer by trade, propose a value for those offered items, search for items they would like to receive by trade, which may or may not be currently held in inventory, be notified when potential trades are available and accept or reject items they would like to receive by trade and confirm the trade with at least one other user. Additionally, the system will allow a user to make a direct purchase of items that have been specified as such.

Abstract: Problem: Providing a storage system which can be applied to a broad range of access forms to the file and, at the same time, in which the performance of file access control processing is improved. Solution: The storage system stores a part of the access control information of a variable size in the basic attribute area of the file, and stores the storage format information in the basic attribute area of the file or in the file system metadata area. At the time of processing the access to the file, with reference to the storage format information, the storage system decodes a part of the access control information into an access mask bit string as needed, and performs the preceding access control processing. If whether access is permitted or not can be determined through the preceding access control processing, the access control processing is performed while, whether access is permitted or not cannot be determined, performs the access control processing based on the extended attribute information. Abstract: A unique identifier is assigned to a network node and is used to obtain an “asset model” corresponding to the node and to determine whether the node is a member of a particular category. An asset model is a set of information about a node (e.g., the node's role within the enterprise, software installed on the node, and known vulnerabilities/weaknesses of the node). An identifier lookup module determines a node's identifier based on characteristics of the node (such as IP address, host name, network zone, and/or MAC address), which are used as keys into lookup data structures. A category lookup module determines whether a particular node is a member of (i.e., within) a particular category using a transitive closure to model the categories (properties) that can be attached to an asset model. A transitive closure for a particular asset category is stored as a bitmap, similar to bitmap indexing.

Abstract: A proxy server receives, from multiple visitors of multiple client devices, a plurality of requests for actions to be performed on identified network resources belonging to a plurality of origin servers. At least some of the origin servers belong to different domains and are owned by different entities. The proxy server and the origin servers are also owned by different entities. The proxy server analyzes each request it receives to determine whether that request poses a threat and whether the visitor belonging to the request poses a threat. The proxy server blocks those requests from visitors that pose a threat or in which the request itself poses a threat. The proxy server transmits the requests that are not a threat and is from a visitor that is not a threat to the appropriate origin server.

Abstract: A method according to one embodiment includes receiving a request to perform a backup of data associated with an application running on multiple servers; communicating with I/O Handlers on the servers for initiating a coordinated backup operation on the data at about a same start time; and instructing the I/O Handlers to stretch communication between instances of the application and data storage volumes associated therewith during initiating the backup operation. Additional systems, methods, and computer program products are also disclosed.

Abstract: Some embodiments of a system and a method to implement a hierarchical registry federation have been presented. For instance, a registry federation can be stored in a set of one or more storage devices, the registry federation including multiple registries, each registry having one or more records. The registries can be organized in an oriented graph such that each registry is logically connected to another registry in the registry federation as a parent registry or a child registry.

Abstract: A method for replicating a virtual file system of a virtual machine. The method includes accessing a host file system usage map of a host machine that indicates active blocks out of a plurality of blocks of the host file system, and accessing a virtual file system usage map of a virtual machine that indicates active blocks out of a plurality of blocks of the virtual file system. A merged usage map is generated from information of the host file system usage map and the virtual file system usage map that identifies active blocks of the host file system associated with the virtual file system. The virtual file system is then replicated at a replication destination in accordance with the merged usage map.

Abstract: Exemplary systems and methods for server management are provided. An exemplary system comprises a plurality of servers, with each server having the ability to access a database or, in some embodiments, be configured to perform a calculation, computation or make a determination of a particular value, values or other information. A communications network delivers queries to each server whereby a look-up table directs query processing by the servers. Further embodiments of the system feature a program logic controller for rebalancing the workload of the network servers. Exemplary methods of processing queries on the system comprise submitting a query to the network, communicating the query to each server in the network and each server looking-up on a look-up table the processing responsibilities of the servers in the network. The query is processed by the server having primary responsibility for processing the query while other the servers monitor query processing.
