Abstract: A method embodied as a web application that enables the automated construction of project teams from profiles contained in data sources accessible through the World Wide Web. The data sources may include social networks, blogs, web pages, and postings on online discussion forums. The locations of these data sources are supplied by a system administrator (during configuration and maintenance) and by registered users of the web application. The web application allows the system administrator to create a set of templates describing the kinds of roles and skills required by the users of the web application. The web application identifies potential team members referenced in the information sources and constructs a semantic network describing the skill sets and team suitability of those potential team members. The web application allows a registered user to enter the roles and capabilities required for a project team they wish to create.

A system composed of experience databases, an individual's current needs, and automated computer agents, is presented to search for, select, display and update highly relevant information to the user as the user's situation changes, making information self-organizing, and automating the production of knowledge and taking actions based thereon.

Abstract: A playlist can be generated based on a chart or list including ranked media items, e.g. songs, videos, etc., by automatically including the highest ranked media items to the playlist, but only adding some of the lower ranked media items to the playlist. A particular lower-ranked media item can be pseudo-randomly excluded from the playlist if that media item has a ranking in a current version of the chart that is lower than its ranking in a previous version. Once the desired number of media items has been added to an intermediate list, the intermediate list can be inverted, and station identifiers can be interspersed between the media items.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to methods, apparatuses and systems for providing a visually simple and salient display of an individual's genomic data overlaid onto one or more relational networks of one or more biological objects, such as information about genes, regulatory regions, promoters or enhancers. The present invention utilizes individual genomic variant information that is annotated with variant information of one or more relational networks having information of biological objects. The display also provides a representation as to the type and nature of individual's variant associated with the relational network such as homozygous variants, heterozygous variants, previously reported genotype-phenotype association, situation within a splice-site region, category of change (e.g., frameshift, nonsense, missense, etc.), predicted effect on protein function (function-changing, tolerated, etc.), and novelty.

Abstract: Techniques are described for estimating and managing memory compression for query processing. Embodiments of the invention may generally include receiving a query to be executed, ascertaining indicatory data about the retrieved data, and selectively compressing a portion of the data in memory according to the indicatory data. In one embodiment, the amount of compression performed during each query execution is recorded and outputted to assist in adjusting the selective compression process.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a system for processing relationship data that expresses relationship between various entities. In some embodiments, the entities are entities associated directly with an enterprise. The entities in some embodiments described below also include entities associated indirectly with the enterprise through other entities. In some embodiments, the system consolidates disparate relationship data sets that relate to the same set of entities. For instance, in some embodiments, the system includes several data storages that store relationship data. For at least two entities, at least two different data storages store two different relationship data sets that differently express the relationship between the two entities. The system includes a hierarchy manager that receives the two different relationship data sets and consolidates the two different relationship data sets into one relationship data set that best expresses the relationship between the two entities.

Abstract: Architecture that enables a software object to be a multi-dimensional object by associating additional dimensions to the object. The object, in addition to the actual data dimension, is now provided with inherent object dimensions that include, but are not limited to, a localization dimension, security dimension, version dimension, personalization dimension, and attributes dimension, for example. The actual data dimension and one or more inherent object dimensions can be added, changed, or modified in realtime. A mapping component maps object relationships between an in-memory form and a tabular form storable in a database. An application programming interface facilitates interaction with the object, and the actual data dimension, and the one or more inherent object dimensions.

Abstract: A computer-readable storage medium having stored an information processing program therein, an information processing apparatus, an information processing method, and an information processing system, which can efficiently prevent output of inappropriate contents to a recipient. Data including a content is assigned creation information indicating information related to a time when the content is created. Identification information for identifying a content which is inappropriate to be outputted to a user, among contents included in the data received from another information processing apparatus, is previously registered. A content identified on the basis of the previously registered identification information is set so as not to be outputted, whereby only a content which is not set so as not to be outputted can be outputted to the user.

Abstract: Methods and systems for managing large write-once tables are described. In some embodiments, a relational database management system includes a space allocation module that utilizes both a logical space allocation scheme, as well as a physical space allocation scheme, to allocate space in units (e.g., pages) having two different sizes—small pages and big pages. For instance, small pages are logically allocated with a conventional converter module, which manages a converter table for mapping logical pages to physical pages, while big pages are physically allocated with an object directory manager, which manages big objects comprised of big pages.

Abstract: Technology is described for associating semantic meaning with data elements. The system can include a messaging module configured to receive a message having data elements. A storage module can store the data elements from the message in a structured format. A message dictionary can be configured to identify a type of the message received and to lexically identify data elements of the message using the message dictionary and the type of message. In addition, a taxonomy module can be configured to provide a semantic meaning for the data elements of the lexically identified portions of the message. Further, a data definition tag repository can store data definition tags and link the message dictionary, the taxonomy, and storage location of the data elements in the storage module. The data definition tags can enable the semantic meaning of data elements to be queried.

Abstract: A method, system, apparatus, and article of manufacture provide the ability to maintain multiple versions of structured views of data in a computer system. A relational database management system (RDBMS) is executed that stores master data in the computer system in master RDBMS tables. The master data is hierarchical in nature and hierarchy metadata for the master data is stored in the RDBMS tables. As part of a process and framework, a series of business rules and process workflows are maintained to manage the master data. Version tables are created in the RDBMS that correspond to each of the master RDBMS tables. Each of the version tables includes an attribute denoting version information. Versions of the master data are defined by replicating the master data and hierarchy metadata into the corresponding version tables. The version tables are used to graphically visualize, manage, and manipulate the versions of the master data.

Abstract: A method for generating an index of securities includes selecting index constituents and weighing the selected index constituents by a measure (“an intangible asset measure”) of quality and/or value of the intangible assets of constituent entities. The index constituents can be selected from a set of potential constituents based on an intangible asset measure of each constituent in the set, and the selected index constituents may then be weighted by a desired measure or methodology or weighted equally, or by an intangible asset measure. Another method for generating an index of securities includes combining groups of constituents, which are selected based on an intangible asset measure, to be index constituents and weighing the index constituents by a desired measure or methodology.
