Publication number: 20110191276Abstract: To implement open information extraction, a new extraction paradigm has been developed in which a system makes a single data-driven pass over a corpus of text, extracting a large set of relational tuples without requiring any human input. Using training data, a Self-Supervised Learner employs a parser and heuristics to determine criteria that will be used by an extraction classifier (or other ranking model) for evaluating the trustworthiness of candidate tuples that have been extracted from the corpus of text, by applying heuristics to the corpus of text. The classifier retains tuples with a sufficiently high probability of being trustworthy. A redundancy-based assessor assigns a probability to each retained tuple to indicate a likelihood that the retained tuple is an actual instance of a relationship between a plurality of objects comprising the retained tuple. The retained tuples comprise an extraction graph that can be queried for information.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 16, 2010Publication date: August 4, 2011Applicant: University of Washington through its Center for CommercializationInventors: Michael J. For example, an update of a record in the database can be identified, and a story created automatically about the update and sent to the users that are following the record. Which updates have stories created and which stories are to be sent to which users can be configured. Other events besides updating of records can also be tracked. For example, actions of a user that result in an event can be tracked, where such tracking can also be configurable. Subscriptions to follow an object can be automatic, and access checks can be used to ensure that unauthorized users do not see certain data.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 12, 2010Publication date: May 12, 2011Applicant: Salesforce.com,inc.Inventors: Peter Lee, Vinod Mehra, Rob Woollen

Publication number: 20110105143Abstract: A system and method for determining node relevancy by proximal weighting and pruning in a layered linked node database, such as that used to represent connections between a set of objects. The weights of connections between nodes in the layered linked node database is used as a distance metric, with propagation semantics determining how the summed relevancy is determined. This is particularly useful for determining, for a given node in a given layer, which nodes in another layer, or on the same layer, are most relevant. In the context of mobile device users, this is particularly useful for dynamically determining which people, places, events etc. are of greatest relevance in a scalable manner.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 3, 2009Publication date: May 5, 2011Applicant: GEOSOLUTIONS B.V.Inventors: Dan HARPLE, Sam CRITCHLEY, Rich PIZZARRO, Gavin NICOL

Publication number: 20110099515Abstract: Correspondence is determined among i) groups in a first version of one or more groups of related tables and ii) groups in a second version of one or more groups of related tables. The tables have schema and table names and determining the correspondence includes matching groups that have matching tables, wherein the matching tables have matching schema and table names. A user interface is displayed, including first and second portions. A group name list is displayed for the one or more groups of the first version in the first user interface portion and of the second version in the second portion. A list of one or more tables within each respectively displayed group is displayed. Within each group of the first version the one or more table names are in visual alignment with respective corresponding one or more table names of the respective corresponding group of the second version.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 22, 2009Publication date: April 28, 2011Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Gary Charles Doney, Ryan Pham

Publication number: 20110099146Abstract: Replicated instances in a database environment provide for automatic failover and recovery. A monitoring component can obtain a lease enabling the component to periodically communicate with, and monitor, one or more data instances in the data environment, where the data instance can be a replicated instance including a primary and a secondary replica. For a large number of instances, the data environment can be partitioned such that each monitoring component can be assigned a partition of the workload. In the event of a failure of a monitoring component, the instances can be repartitioned and the remaining monitoring components can be assigned to the new partitions to substantially evenly distribute the workload.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 26, 2009Publication date: April 28, 2011Inventors: Grant Alexander MacDonald McAlister, Swaminathan Sivasubramanian, Barry B. Publication number: 20110093477Abstract: A computer-implemented method for estimation of order-based statistics on slowly changing distributions of data stored on a computer. An initial set of data is converted to an initial histogram based representation of the data set's distribution. New or removed data is converted into a new histogram separate from the initial histogram. The new histogram is combined with the initial histogram to build a combined histogram. Percentiles and order-based statistics are estimated from the combined histogram to provide analysis of a combination of the initial set of data combined with the new or removed data.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 10, 2010Publication date: April 21, 2011Applicant: TERADATA US, INC.Inventor: Bruce E.
