Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, for identifying matches between disparate schemas calculates a degree of similarity between elements of two schemas using each of multiple matching processes. The calculated degrees of similarity are combined using a first weighting vector to produce first combined degrees of similarity. The first weighting vector includes multiple weighting coefficients and each weighting coefficient corresponds to one of the matching processes. The weighting coefficients are tuned using information relating to a predicted degree of matching accuracy associated with the first weighting vector.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for generating index as well as a search method and a search apparatus. Index entry comprises at least a search item identifier corresponding to a search item, one or a plurality of index items generated from one or plural pieces of search information, and an accumulator for the search information. The accumulator is generated by accumulating the search information, or accumulating ciphertext of information containing the search information, or accumulating data mapped from information containing the search information. At the time of searching, the index items and the accumulator are provided to a searcher. The searcher extracts search information from the index items and checks whether the extracted search information is complete by using the accumulator. In one embodiment, the accumulator is incorporated in an encrypted inverted index.

Abstract: Locating potential licensees and infringers of a patent or other intellectual property can be facilitated by determining whether someone other than the property owner is trying or has tried to patent the same or related subject matter. For example, if an applicant files a patent application but does not respond to an action or other patentability opinion by a patent office that cites prior art references, then it can be presumed that one or more of the cited references must be of interest for the applicant, and vice versa with respect to the owners of the cited references. References cited and, if desired, whether an applicant has responded to a patent office's patentability opinion can be determined from patent data publicly available in computer databases maintained by many patent offices around the world.

Abstract: The present invention is a method for detecting anomalies against normal profiles and for fusing and visualizing the results from multiple anomaly detection systems in a quantifying and unifying user interface. The knowledge patterns discovered from historical data serve as the normal profiles, or baselines or references (hereinafter, called “normal profiles”). The method assesses a piece of information against a collection of the normal profiles and decides how anomalous it is. The normal profiles are calculated from historical data sources, and stored in a collection of mining models. Multiple anomaly detection systems generate a collection of mining models using multiple data sources. When a piece of information is newly observed, the method measures the degree of correlation between the observed information and the normal profiles.

Abstract: A method and system utilizes a hierarchical bitmap structure to represent deleted data sets. Each level in the hierarchical bitmap structure may have progressively larger size and represent finer granularity of number of data blocks than its parent level. A method in one aspect may comprise allocating a first level bitmap having size equal to a register on a processor, each bit in the first level bitmap representing a plurality of blocks of data in a database, and allocating one or more pointers corresponding to said plurality of bits in the first level bitmap, said one or more pointers being allocated to point to a sub bitmap generated after a data block is deleted but before the index corresponding to the data block is cleaned.

Abstract: The invention provides a processing device for detecting a certain computer command in a string of characters representing a uniform resource identifier, the certain command comprising a predefined command header, the command header being followed by a command name from a plurality of predefined command names. The processing device comprises a determiner for determining whether the string of characters comprises the predefined command header, the determiner being further configured to determine whether a sub-string of characters following the command header comprises the command name if the string of characters comprises the predefined command header and a provider for providing the predefined command header and the command name if the command header comprises a command name as the certain computer command.

Abstract: A computer implemented method, data processing system, and computer usable program code are provided for accessing unique hierarchical data. A tree structure for a document is analyzed. A determination is made as to whether a set of unique paths exist in the tree structure. Responsive to an existence of the set of unique paths, a unique path identifier is assigned to each of the set of unique paths to create a set of unique path identifiers and assigned unique path pairs. Then, the unique path identifier and a node address for the unique hierarchical data for each of the set of unique path identifiers and assigned unique path pairs is stored into a header in the document disk page.

Abstract: A user interface component receives an input error message. A query enhancer component derives error messages from the input error messages using error pattern(s) representative of the input error message and error sub-pattern(s) of the error pattern(s). A result aggregator component inputs each error message to search engines, receives search results, aggregates the search results, and provides the search results to the user interface. The enhancer component may include a pattern composer component to locate error patterns representative of the input error message, and a sub-pattern generator component to derive error sub-patterns from the error patterns. The aggregator component may determine whether the search results are in agreement with a predetermined criterion. If not, the aggregator component may request the enhancer component to provide additional error messages to input to the search engines.

Abstract: For a multi-dimensional database, members of the dimension are displayed using names of the members of the dimension and property information associated with each of the members of the dimension. A selection interface to select at least one member of the dimension is provided while continuing to display the members of the dimension. An indication that the at least one selected member has been selected is also provided. In other implementations, a search of the members of the dimension based on a search condition is executed and members of the dimension that satisfy the search conditions are displayed while continuing to display the members of the dimension.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed which automatically build a database by automatically assigning links to an expert, pushing content to an expert, providing expert annotation, and linking the content to an annotation database. A term is selected by applying rules, such as, the term not previously existing in the database, an unusually high frequency of the term, the term is an article or the term is an unusual part of speech. An advertiser can sponsor the term, for example, by having a banner ad automatically pop-up on a keyword search. Content windows can be attached to the term, the content window containing information such as definitions, related products or services, sponsorship information, information from content syndicators, translations and reference works. A utility is available to the expert that allows the expert to analyze the term in context by extending or reducing the sentence or paragraph the word is contained in.

Abstract: Computer-implemented methods and systems for retrieving potential real estate leads such as expired MLS listings, for-sale-by-owner properties, and foreclosures are described. Expired listings and/or the other leads may be automatically updated, by scanning several electronic sources to discover owner information and when a property is sold or listed/re-listed with a real estate agent. Missing data from the listings may be identified and completed where possible. Moreover, the systems and methods search for and supplement the leads with supplemental information such as property tax data, population demographics, recent comparable sales in the area, et cetera.
