A per-message report mechanism permits internal system components and the encoding/decoding components to communicate information regarding the encoding or decoding on a per message basis. XML messages can be converted automatically into Binary messages.

Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to data processing. Bloom filters are used to process data at high speed. A Bloom filter that is initialized based on a source string can be used to quickly determine the similarity between the source string and a query string.

Abstract: Technologies are described herein for exporting content items from multiple disparate content sources to a single repository. Query parameters are received for locating content items hosted by one or more content servers of different types for export. Native search queries are generated for each content server from the query parameters and are executed on each content server. An export manifest listing the content items for export is built from query results received from the content servers. Each content item listed in the export manifest is then retrieved from the corresponding content server and stored in a single export repository.

Abstract: A survey system of the present invention includes a mobile-computing device having a user interface for receiving survey data from respondents, a management server including a survey data validation module, and a terminal having a user interface. The mobile-computing device includes a survey application which encodes the survey data with at least one identifier and transmits the encoded survey data to the management server. The survey data validation feature of the management server analyzes the encoded survey data for validity and determines a probability of authenticity of the survey data. Statistical survey results, as well as the probability of authenticity of the survey data is presented to an end user through the user interface of the terminal.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for presenting static and dynamic data corresponding to an entity within an application on a mobile device. An entity object is created as part of a data model within the application such that the entity object has a plurality of fields with the plurality of fields having static data corresponding to the entity. Based on the static data corresponding to the entity, dynamic data corresponding to the entity is received into the entity object from at least one of a plurality of applications executable within the mobile device. The static and dynamic data from the entity object corresponding to the entity is displayed simultaneously within a user interface of the application in a single presentation view.

Abstract: Even if there are many printed images similar to a query image, this invention can effectively use a display window with a limited size and support to specify the print request source of each similar image by classifying and displaying the images according to additional information containing information indicating the print request source which has issued a print request for the image. Therefore, when a query image is input and images similar to the query image are found, the similar images are classified according to the user names of users who have printed them. The numbers of times of printing of the similar images and maximum similarities are displayed for the respective user names.

Abstract: Social networking services, such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and Orkut, are changing our communication habits by introducing new tools that simplify and increase on-line interaction. The exemplary embodiments present methods for measuring the social strength among contacts on the basis of users' on-line interactions, which may be significantly used in real-time collaborative task management (e.g., inviting contacts for collaboration, selecting suitable tools for communication, prioritizing information flow). Moreover, exemplary embodiments provide a framework for developing new mobile social networking applications (social search client, smart dialer or contact applications) by extending the use of social ranking of contacts.

Abstract: A method for centrally providing a profile of a user's degree of preference for one or more items across categories in a plurality of domains of interest in a taxonomy of preferences is described. In one embodiment, the method includes identifying a user's degree of preference for an item from a plurality of indicators. Objective information describing a product is received from a promoter, and subjective information describing the product is received from users of the social networking web site. An advertisement is then generated by combining the information received from the promoter and the users of the social networking web site. Ratings are calculated for each of a plurality of advertisements and analyzed to select advertisements to present to a user through the social networking web site.

Abstract: Techniques are described herein for capturing and restoring database session state. Production database server components save the session state of each of a plurality of database sessions. The components store workload units that are processed in these sessions. The components store updated session states in response to certain events. Thus, the components may capture multiple session states, pertaining to various different points in time, for each session. The captured session states and the captured workload are moved to a test database server. A user selects, from among the time points represented by the session states, a point in time at which the user would like workload replay to begin. Sessions are re-created on the test database server. Session states of these sessions are set to reflect the session states as they existed at the user-selected time point. Workload units are replayed in the sessions relative to the test database server.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a system and method for determining preferences from information mashups and, in particular, a system and method for constructing a ranked list from multiple sources. In an exemplary embodiment, the system and method tunably combines multiple ranked lists by computing a score for each item within the list, wherein the score is a function of the associated rank of the item within the list. When a new posting is added by a user, contextual information associated with the user's activity with a provider's service and/or product is also included. Contextual information includes information that is not directly inputted by the user but provides additional information for placing the user's posting in better context. The online feedback forum further enables the affiliated provider and/or its agents to add official responses to postings and otherwise manage postings of the online feedback forum.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, system and computer program product for configuration item (CI) status value analysis for multiple performance monitors. In one embodiment of the invention, a multi-CI analysis method can be provided. The method can include weighting different CI status values produced by different performance monitors for a single resource in a monitored computing system and displaying selected ones of the weighted different CI status values according to relevance determined by weight. In one aspect of the embodiment, weighting different CI status values produced by different performance monitors for a single resource in a monitored computing system can include locating the different CI status values for the single resource in a configuration management database (CMDB), identifying the different performance monitors producing the different CI status values in the CMDB and applying weights to the different CI status values according to CI status value characteristics.

A query analysis system analyzes frequencies of a query over time to determine whether the query is time-dependent or time-independent. To forecast the frequency of time-independent queries, the query analysis system analyzes the frequency of a query over time to identify significant increases in the frequency, which are referred to as “query events” or “events.” The query analysis system forecasts frequencies of time-independent queries based on queries with events that tend to causally precede events of the query to be forecasted.

The raw values for a dimension are maintained within a raw value file. For sparse data, the raw value file may be compressed, e.g., by excluding nulls and associating a record identifier with each non-null. A data manager provides access to data in the data files, such as by offering various functions, using caching for efficiency.

Abstract: A system and method to track and display the status of an electronic document submitted through a web-portal to a multifunctional peripheral device. The multifunctional peripheral device receives an electronic document file upon which it is to perform a service and logs the receipt in a central status database. During the processing of the electronic document file, the multifunctional peripheral device continually updates the status information corresponding to that file in the central status database. Through a web-portal, a user selects from a list of recently submitted document files one file for which status information is desired. The multifunctional peripheral device then accesses the central status database, retrieves the file, and displays, via the web-portal, detailed document and status information corresponding to the selected document file.

Abstract: A system and method for correlated analysis of wasted space and capacity efficiency in complex storage infrastructures are provided. The system and method of the illustrative embodiments bring together wasted space data from all areas and components of the storage infrastructure into a single set of reports correlating information from these various sources in the storage infrastructure. In addition, correlated analysis of this collected information is performed with regard to wasted space. Logical storage devices of the storage infrastructure which are unused by host systems may be identified and appropriate corrective actions may be automatically taken. Moreover, automated recommendations and other automated corrective actions may be taken based upon the correlated analysis of the correlated data collected from the various components of the storage infrastructure.

Abstract: The present invention provides a methodology for truncating a logical structure having data matching a predefined pattern. For example, the present invention truncates a logical structure so that branches of the structure are automatically ceased at a recursive ancestor instead of at a descendant. By using the methodology of the present invention, the total number of nodes of the logical structure that will be automatically displayed for a user is represented by the formula N*N+1. Thus, when N=10, the total number of nodes that are automatically displayed for the user is 101. This quantity is far more user friendly than the 9,864,101 nodes that would be displayed when N=10 under previous approaches.

Thereafter, the meta data is associated with the policy so that the constraints specified by the meta data can govern the modification of the policy. Under the present invention there are at least two ways of associating the meta data with a policy. In one embodiment, the meta data is embodied as a meta policy that can be associated with one or more (operational) policies. In another embodiment, the meta data is inserted into individual policies as additional attributes.

There is one object discovery agent (ODA) client and at least one ODA, wherein each ODA is associated with one application and includes: (i) application programming interfaces (APIs) to communicate with the associated application to discover definition information on objects maintained by the application and (ii) code to communicate with the ODA client. The ODA client communicates with one of the at least one ODA to cause the ODA to gather definition information on at least one object used by one application. The gathered object definition information is provided to an integration server to integrate the object in an environment including heterogeneous objects from different applications.

For example, in an illustrative aspect of the invention, a technique for performing structural joins of two element sets of a tree-structured document, wherein one of the two element sets is an ancestor element set and the other of the two element sets is a descendant element set, and further wherein each element is represented as an interval representing a start position and an end position of the element in the document, comprises the following steps/operations. An advertising module cooperates with the system to provide content based ads relevant to the recommended items.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for searching network data for one or more predetermined strings are disclosed. In one embodiment, the string search is a multi-stage search where the stages of the search are performed by different hardware components. In one embodiment in a first search stage, a first processor performs a comparison of blocks of incoming data to determine whether the blocks potentially represent the beginning of one of the predetermined strings. If a potential predetermined string is identified, a second processor performs a further search to determine whether the string matches one of the predetermined strings. Because the first processor searches only for the beginning of the predetermined strings, the first stage comparison can be performed quickly, which improves network performance as compared to more detailed searching. The second stage is performed by second processor, which allows the first processor to search for potential matching strings.

Abstract: The present invention provides a social networking system and method by which customized tags can be created by a registered user in an online social networking environment and distributed to facilitate social networking. The tags represent personal characteristics and preferences associated with users of the online social networking environment. A graphical user interface (GUI) is provided in the online social networking website that enables a specific user to create and customize tags. Tags can be embeddable in that a user can insert the tag in a website GUI for display. Also, tags may have embedded content, e.g. a photo, a song, a profile page location, etc and may be sponsored or traded in the social networking website. Also a skin that shows the personal profile page GUI style may be customized, sponsored, or traded.

Abstract: Various embodiments provide a state-based, regular expression parser in which data, such as generally unstructured text, is received into the system and undergoes a tokenization process which permits structure to be imparted to the data.
