  • Patent number: 8812643
Abstract: Encoding and/or decoding of messages. On the encoding end, a composite encoder encodes message from an internal format that is used by internal system components into an external format. However, the composite encoder may encode the outgoing messages into different external formats on a per-message basis. For incoming message, a composite decoder decodes incoming messages from any one of a plurality of external formats into the internal format also on a per-message basis. A per-message report mechanism permits internal system components and the encoding/decoding components to communicate information regarding the encoding or decoding on a per message basis. XML messages can be converted automatically into Binary messages.

Abstract: Technologies are described herein for exporting content items from multiple disparate content sources to a single repository. Query parameters are received for locating content items hosted by one or more content servers of different types for export. Native search queries are generated for each content server from the query parameters and are executed on each content server. An export manifest listing the content items for export is built from query results received from the content servers. Each content item listed in the export manifest is then retrieved from the corresponding content server and stored in a single export repository.

Production database server components save the session state of each of a plurality of database sessions. The components store workload units that are processed in these sessions. The components store updated session states in response to certain events. Thus, the components may capture multiple session states, pertaining to various different points in time, for each session. A user selects, from among the time points represented by the session states, a point in time at which the user would like workload replay to begin. Sessions are re-created on the test database server. Session states of these sessions are set to reflect the session states as they existed at the user-selected time point. Abstract: Techniques for analyzing and modeling the frequency of queries are provided by a query analysis system. A query analysis system analyzes frequencies of a query over time to determine whether the query is time-dependent or time-independent. The query analysis system forecasts the frequency of time-dependent queries based on their periodicities. The query analysis system forecasts the frequency of time-independent queries based on causal relationships with other queries. To forecast the frequency of time-independent queries, the query analysis system analyzes the frequency of a query over time to identify significant increases in the frequency, which are referred to as “query events” or “events.” The query analysis system forecasts frequencies of time-independent queries based on queries with events that tend to causally precede events of the query to be forecasted.

Abstract: Described is a technology by which high dimensional source data corresponding to rows of records with identifiers, and columns comprising dimensions of data values, are processed into a file model for efficient access. An inverted index corresponding to any dimension is built by mapping data from raw dimension values to mapped values based on mapping entries in a dimension table. The record identifiers are arranged into subgroups based on their mapped value; a count and/or an offset may be maintained for locating each of the subgroups. The raw values for a dimension are maintained within a raw value file. For sparse data, the raw value file may be compressed, e.g., by excluding nulls and associating a record identifier with each non-null. A data manager provides access to data in the data files, such as by offering various functions, using caching for efficiency.

Abstract: A summarization system and method. The summarization method includes utilizing a first body of information to obtain a second body of information, which is identified (by a hyperlink, an attachment identifier, a reference, etc.) in the first body of information. A summary of the obtained second body of information is then computed. The computed summary can be displayed to a user and/or stored for later use.

Abstract: A computer-readable medium comprises data structure for providing information about levels of similarity between pairs of N documents. The data structure comprises a plurality of entries of similarity values representing levels of similarity for a plurality of pairs of the documents. Each of the similarity values represents a level of similarity of one document of a given pair relative to the other document of the given pair. The similarity value of each entry is greater than a threshold similarity value that is greater than zero. The plurality of similarity-value entries are fewer than N2?N in number if the similarity values are asymmetric with regard to document pairing, and the plurality of similarity-value entries are fewer than N 2 - N 2 in number if the similarity values are symmetric with regard to document pairing. A method and apparatus for generating the data structure are described.

Abstract: This invention provides a document management system regarding deleted information for suppressing restoration of information that one does not wish to be referred to again. This invention comprises an electronic document DB device in which a DB is stored and a DB device used for electronic document backup that stores a BDB. When the electronic document to be deleted of the DB stored in the electronic document DB device is indicated, the DMA deletes the electronic document from the DB. Furthermore, when the electronic document is indicated, the DMA deletes the electronic document corresponding to the electronic document in the BDB stored in the DB device used for backup from the DB device used for electronic document backup.

There is one object discovery agent (ODA) client and at least one ODA, wherein each ODA is associated with one application and includes: (i) application programming interfaces (APIs) to communicate with the associated application to discover definition information on objects maintained by the application and (ii) code to communicate with the ODA client. The ODA client communicates with one of the at least one ODA to cause the ODA to gather definition information on at least one object used by one application. The gathered object definition information is provided to an integration server to integrate the object in an environment including heterogeneous objects from different applications.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for performing structural joins for answering containment queries. Such inventive techniques may be used to perform efficient structural joins of two interval lists which are neither sorted nor pre-indexed. For example, in an illustrative aspect of the invention, a technique for performing structural joins of two element sets of a tree-structured document, wherein one of the two element sets is an ancestor element set and the other of the two element sets is a descendant element set, and further wherein each element is represented as an interval representing a start position and an end position of the element in the document, comprises the following steps/operations. An index is dynamically built for the ancestor element set. Then, one or more structural joins are performed by searching the index with the interval start position of each element in the descendant element set.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for searching network data for one or more predetermined strings are disclosed. In one embodiment, the string search is a multi-stage search where the stages of the search are performed by different hardware components. In one embodiment in a first search stage, a first processor performs a comparison of blocks of incoming data to determine whether the blocks potentially represent the beginning of one of the predetermined strings. If a potential predetermined string is identified, a second processor performs a further search to determine whether the string matches one of the predetermined strings. Because the first processor searches only for the beginning of the predetermined strings, the first stage comparison can be performed quickly, which improves network performance as compared to more detailed searching. The second stage is performed by second processor, which allows the first processor to search for potential matching strings.
