Abstract: Timing considerations for autonomous uplink (AUL) downlink feedback information (AUL-DFI) is disclosed. With the flexible timeline for new radio (NR) operations, signaling of the processing timeline may be used for the served user equipments (UEs) to properly interpret the acknowledgement information in the AUL-DFI. The UE receives a signal identifying a minimum processing time of the serving base station to process AUL. Using the knowledge of the minimum processing time, the UE determines which of the outstanding AUL transmissions are accurately addressed in the AUL-DFI and which are still pending. Additional signaling to the UE may instruct the UE when to implement any changes to transmission parameters also signaled via the AUL-DFI. Slots prior to the indicated change time will be transmitted using the current parameters, while slots after the indicated time will use the updated parameters from the AUL-DFI.

Abstract: Mobile devices, base stations, and/or relay stations may implement a method for an improved and reliable automatic repeat request feedback indication. A mobile device (UE) may establish communication within a wireless network, and indicate to the network that the UE is a special type device, e.g. a constrained device. The network (base station) may then not send an indication on a physical indicator channel to the UE when certain conditions are met, and instead, the mobile device may interpret control information received from the network on a physical control channel as a negative acknowledgment indication corresponding to an automatic repeat request from the network. The UE may then perform a retransmission according to the interpreted control information. A new control information format may be used to further define how the network and UE implement the automatic repeat request process, to reduce the total number of bits required in the control information.

  • Patent number: 10680764
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to low density parity check (LDPC) encoding. At least a portion of the parity bits generated by an LDPC encoder for an initial transmission may be stored for use in generating subsequent hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) redundancy versions. In some examples, at least the degree-two and degree-three parity bits included in the initial transmission may be stored. The parity bits may be stored within a layer 2 (L2) or an upper layer buffer or within the LDPC encoder. For example, the parity bits may be stored within the HARQ buffer.

Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), using mixed numerologies, may, in a first codeword, map a first set of bits to a higher order modulation scheme and a second set of bits to a lower order scheme, and transmit the first codeword. The WTRU may determine that data of the first codeword is to be re-transmitted on a second codeword, containing the same number of bits as the first codeword. In the second codeword, the WTRU may map a first set of bits to the lower order scheme and a second set of bits to the higher order scheme. The first set of bits of the second codeword may contain the same number of bits as the second set of bits of the first codeword and may contain at least a subset of data in the first set of bits of the first codeword. The WTRU may transmit the second codeword.

  • Patent number: 10630430
Abstract: An origination device (e.g., a base station) encodes first and second data packets according to a first set of encoding parameters corresponding to channel conditions associated with a first communication link between a signal forwarding device and a destination device. The resulting first and second single-encoded data packets contain the same data. The origination device combines the first and second single-encoded data packets to generate a single-encoded data block. The origination device encodes the single-encoded data block, according to a second set of encoding parameters corresponding to channel conditions associated with a second communication link between the origination device and the signal forwarding device, to generate a dual-encoded data block. The dual-encoded data block is transmitted to the signal forwarding device.

  • Patent number: 10560221
Abstract: One or more codewords are generated by encoding input bits at input bit positions onto sub-channels that are provided by a code. Each of the sub-channels has an associated reliability of correct decoding of an input bit at an input bit position. Each codeword is transmitted to a decoder, and a word based on each transmitted codeword is received at the decoder. Each received word is decoded, and the reliabilities of the sub-channels are determined based on decoded bits and known input bits from which each codeword was generated. An indication that is based on the determined reliabilities of the sub-channels, such as an indication of the determined reliabilities, is transmitted to the encoder, and may be used by the encoder in selecting the sub-channels for encoding subsequent input bits, for example.

  • Patent number: 10548124
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. In one method, a control format indicator value for a frame may be received over a physical carrier in a shared spectrum. Based on the control format indicator value, a number of subframes of the frame to be used by a base station for downlink transmissions over the physical carrier may be determined. The control format indicator value may indicate an end of transmission, if data is to be transmitted during the frame, a number of subframes to be used for transmission, or whether the current subframe is the final subframe used for transmission. In some cases, a user equipment (UE) may use the control format indicator value to determine a sleep schedule. Further, ACK/NACK transmissions by a UE may be scheduled based on the control format indicator value.
